Italy's youth is breathing new life into the country's rural areas. In the past two years, the number of young graduates - often from urban centres - starting up their businesses in the countryside has increased by 35%. Many are driven by a deep appreciation of Italy's rich local produce and have a good understanding of environmentally-friendly practices. These new forms of agriculture are now playing a significant role in youth employment and Italy's economic recovery.

The reason for no jobs is simple. EU

I met a French girl in South America a few years ago that explained to me her plan of buying some land with her friends and starting a community while producing food. I was like wtf is this in my head, I want to live in a big "in" city and launch my business. This pandemic happened, all my business plans went to hell and I got destroyed. This whole time she has been living her dream on a beautiful place with her friends the past year. I changed my mind completely about many things this year and after watching this video, I completely understand her.
Interesting that the lockdowns have had the (perhaps unintended) effect of providing a good reason for people, who might already have been thinking of not going the corporate route, but being self-sufficient, living the dream (why wait for retirement?) is the right way to go. To _not_ be overly dependent on the government, and be able to provide food for yourself and those around you. Toilet paper is one thing, but as we've seen supply chain failures with just about everything, we can certainly understand that putting all our eggs in one basket, and being 100% reliant on the government, is a bad place to be. And heck, you can live your dream too.
@@solarydays goverment help him
There is nothing more gratifying and empowering than to not rely on anything but yourself.
@@solarydays Alot of this land is for sale at really low prices, as some of these rural areas are practically abandoned and the Italian government doesn't want to see them go to waste or become forgotten. You can buy a house for 100eu in some towns, and the only legal obligation you are required to meet is that you will make sure these villages increase in value, that traditions are kept alive (eg the silk couple probably bought land that used to be a silk farm, so they had to come up with a way to produce and sell silk products) and also to pay for renovations when necessary, so I imagine a farm and a second hand truck aren't that expensive as it would have been for your father starting up, compared to these kids that already come from well-paying jobs and probably saved enough money to buy a house if they wanted to.
Same happened to me my friend I was in school starting my own food business things were going amazing until this pandemic hit and I was forced to go and work for family on there farm, completely changed the way I think and now pursuing more career opportunities in farming, I’m just thankful I had this opportunity, if any of you reading this have family who farms I suggest you ask if they need help, I’ve never felt better in my life!

That's not to say there might also be a grain of truth to it, but I see a lot of the points stated as trivial to human nature? Also, about surrogate activity and power process, the ideas seem so generalised to the fact that you could use the terms for everything you do; is brushing teeth necessarily a power process? Respect brother, from Italy
Astounding...So proud of these young educated farmers 🙏
My young adult nephew turned away from a career in professional sports. He's a college student almost done with his studies and on the side he bought some land and plants on it and sells the produce. He is very happy and my family is happy for him.
Less stress, more physical activity, more spare time. why not?
Physical activity? Absolutely. But less stress and more spare time? Nope. If you choose this life style, you literally live to work, you do not work to live. I am italian and my grandparents were farmers, so I know what I'm talking about.
More spare time?
Are you kiddng me?
As a child who grew up on a Poor farm, I wish it on NO ONE not even my Enemies,
No weekend's, No Holiday's School Holiday's? more work, Missing out on Birthday's and parties because had to work during harvest season 7 days a week.
I forgot add the point about the consumer wanting everything fucken cheap, and super market's selling produce below cost price.
@@pizzaki582 really depends on how much money you are trying to make. if you are able to live below your means then yes you will have spare time

Agriculture's not dead! This segment boosted my morale to pursue my plans in developing our farm land. 💪💪
all countries should have youths like them ^^
do continue to inspire people guys ~~^^
Nothing can compare to living in your own hometown and earning a mouthful than living away from your roots earning a bagful.
Impressed by the entrepreneur. Means a lot to people to stay in their native country.
even their faces show that they are far from all social evils
they look PEACEFUL and HAPPY!
Life is more peacefull and more fresh air. Kinda everything that the body and soul needs.
"So UA-cam wants me to be a farmer now?"
Wow good suggestion UA-cam, only if I had no other goals
....Yes.
Bro Google wanted me to watch this video so much that it was stuck in my recommended for almost a week i swear.
It's not a mattter that u r graduate or illiterate,in farming you can earn more than other service people, and its give so much enjoyment those who love nature.
Absolutely beautiful. African graduates in Europe should learn a thing or two from this. The grass is not always greener on the other side.
Dan Brown Africans don’t have acces to machinery’s in Europe making farming difficult
@@Bobelponge123 Yes they do. They can just import it
@@cs0345 You realize how much money that costs? Most poor country farmers don’t have it
This is freedom vs being slaves for city life housing.
lol where it takes a 30 year loan to own housing xD
The chaos is bring back common sense and old school jobs.
I feel this on such a deep level! From across the Atlantic in Canada 🇨🇦

I respect farmers with all my heart!
They are the people humanity needs the most!
I am so happy to see the youth of Italy are getting together to save the future of the forgotten regions of the most country in the world. Grazie mille ragazzi 🙏
Seriously this is very inspiring making use of the land with hard work and owning to it as well as giving work to people... great
And we Nepalese goes to different countries for seeking labour jobs, leaving our fertile land barren
I'm an urban indoor farmer in Florida it would be my dream to have a farm in Italy! Nothing better than getting back to the true roots of my family and culture. I'm really happy for all of these young adults making the right choices for the planet and the future of Italy! Perhaps I should start working on my passport to Italy. Here in the United States there are some states that are trying to take homesteads / farms land from owners and build large complexes on them it's a shame. They say it's an quote-unquote eyesore. That's terrible! Perhaps Dreams May Come True for some but I will definitely work towards mine regardless whether I'm in Italy or not but that would be the ideal location as I also grew up fishing.
Thanks
If you want to come back, then you will be welcome here in Italy.
Mother Italy opens her arms to everyone who needs.
Cannot imagine myself being caged in a glass cubicle for 8-9 hours a day in 5 days and enduring the heavy traffic for hours on the way home. As someone who grew up in the farm, farmers have much better health (especially mental) compared to city workers whose everyday life is about beating the deadline. But anyway, it’s their life to live. And most importantly- their own choice.

See, what baby boomers fail to understand about millennials is that we crave a calm and simple life that makes us feel fulfilled especially when it comes to our careers. If it were all up to us, sure, maybe we would stay in the same job/profession for 30+ years if our economy was blessed with the jobs that we love doing. I don't think anyone's dream career was to be a cashier getting paid minimum wage. We're not afraid of hardwork. We're not afraid of commitment and taking on challenges. What we want is to feel like we're valued and add value to not only our lives but other people's lives as well.
Most of us aren't some technology obsessed freaks who take selfies all day. A lot of us want a beautiful and simple life that makes us want to get up for work in the morning and a lot of the times...those types of job don't pay millions and we're fine with that. We just crave balance.
We have lost ourselves working for MNCs and stuck in the cycle of earning and spending that all on EMI's . This is postive trend . Hope some day I would also be able to take this decision.
Can't lie, this is also my passion. I'm tired of modern corporate society and dealing with lots of people. Taking care of my parents farm bring more peace to my mind
Be happy is the most important. Follow what make you happy
I hope the graduates of the Philippines also follow this example. The youth here is more inclined towards gaining a professional job and turns a blind eye to the agricultural resources we can take advantage of. There are many companies here that hire graduates as cheap labor and boycotting is a widely used way to stop. But i believe that it isn't the only way and to grow our own businesses is the better way!
Cr Own i wish all the best not only for you but for everyone else who will do it!!
I am going to start now also i have 30 hectares of land from my grand father n also water thank you ...
