My mother is Norwegian. My father is Irish. I’d love to visit both. I know far more about my Irish side than I do my Norwegian side but I have 8 generations back in Norway and 13 for Ireland. My great grandpa began this documentation journey and then my grandpa and now my mother. It’s so incredible to see the amazing people my roots go back to. I’d love to experience it all in person.

The people that produced this video did an amazing job. The scenic pictures are great. There is not so much talking... there are long pauses where you just hear the birds chirping, which is refreshing. The music is nice and the direction is so good. Nice one!!! Thank you!

    • @Youtube_Stole_My_Handle_Too

You got it all wrong. Norwegian is much easier, both to spell and to pronounce. Not even Norwegians are able to sound like a native Swedish - after ten years of living there. All because of those 100 common words you must have learn to pronounce from the time you're three years old. Anybody can sound like a native Norwegian after half a year speaking Norwegian - if you're serious about it. If Norwegian isn't the most easiest language to learn to speak and write like a native, I would very much like to know what language beats it.
Norwegian is far from a perfect language. Just like all other languages there are parts you just have to learn by heart, but a huge part also follows strict rules and they are few.

If people lived in or rented the historic buildings, they would be easier to maintain. There is something about human activity that extends the life of a bldg. Without it, things fall apart. I think we add moisture, plus you have to maintain anything you're living in or using. So, if it was commercial rental space, they would have to maintain it for safely and for appearance sake.

A very good example, is the old part of Stavanger. Houses from early 1800, which have to painted in tradidional white, and no alternations are allowed.....

Maybe not Paradise . Summers fantastic! Try visiting in mid winter!
    Fishing has changed.
Fish farming became big business. Money not so much on local hands. Fish sent to Asia to be processed, packaged and then shipped back to Norway to be sold. Hard on local areas. Hopefully that will change . Local communities need steady work; tourism is good, but unreliable.
Winter tourism was great though- the northern light tourists - came from all over the world to experience it.
    Then came Covid- 19.
As usual, the Sami are doing a fantastic job doing what they’ve always been great at. Taking care of the environment and honoring their traditions!

I'm 53 kids r raised n out of college, i'm retired n if not for my mom n my wifes mom, id move in a heart beat , not sure what their rules are for retired people, most are retiring and moving south, me I always felt connected to Norway n Iceland, thought I was Irish n Scottish, found out my family Line of Henderson, way back to Magnus in Northern town in Norway, I couldnt have been more excited to find out my dna connected me to where my heart has always been, I just knew, I would bring my harley, sell my guns n move live a peaceful life as far north as possible there, or to my family's home town, if wife won't come, I will come anyway, my 3 kids can come visit me, n vice versa, if i ever get grandkids between now n then I might stay most likely here would be deciding factor, how much to just live on that boat for 11 months of the year, very peaceful n relaxing to watch n dream about. I don't see any Norwegians saying they wish they lived in Usa either, n don't they would, Trump has been a great President, the press n deep state actors not so good, best President of my lifetime ! Best wish's to my Viking Brothers n Sisters !
