  • A talk for the Oscar Wilde Society. In November 1892 Wilde was a guest at the Royal Bath Hotel. He signed the Visitor Book for his party which numbered Boise, Lord Alfred Douglas, Maurice Salis Schwabe and Charlie Mason. How did these friends contribute to Wilde's downfall in 1895?

Thank you. Everything about Wilde fascinates me. Greetings from Brazil.

Very descriptive. She puts you on the scene and atmosphere of Wilde's social circle.

Thoroughly brilliant Anne! As much as I enjoyed reading your article it was even better to listen to you talk us through it all.

Thank you Anne, extremely interesting. In case anyone is interested (as I am), in the elusive Maurice Schwabe, I believe Laura Lee, author of 'Oscar's Ghost', has just completed writing her book about him. Publication date yet to be agreed I understand.

54:34 Re. the photograph of Douglas seated on his brother's lap: I read somewhere that Douglas confirmed that he was actually seated on Maurice Schwabe 'for a lark'. I know various books credit the photograph as being of the two brothers, but I think it highly unlikely they would pose like that anyway.

I came across this attribution too but the photograph is one of a series...so I erred on the side of caution.
