We can build our platform but if we don't improve the quality of the music nothing will change. If we were doing good music like in the 90's they wouldn't remove the chart. They remove the chart because we stop sounding like Jamaican and start sounding like American trap. They use to imitate us now we imitate them. We lost our way.

People getting a bit emotional here, building your own platform for music that is average at best doesn't address the current issue. As usual instead of analysing the quality of our music we respond with emotions, neither of those 2 can help Jamaican music, one thing for sure though, they are the most emotional.
Jamaican music is one of the most loved and influential but its standard and quality have depreciated because of what we now create and deliver to the marketplace, its our fault, produce quality and the patrons will support it.

I have to disagree with certain aspects of what you say, good music is out there but our own people won't invest in the talent. They will talk about the devaluation of the music but won't do anything about it. Agent Sasco was saying it a longtime that dancehall is following hip-hop too much but people said he was badmind and there is the problem, once someone points out the problem with the music people will start say "stop fight di yute dem and lowe dem!"
@@wayneebrilliant For sure, good music is available but it is very quickly becoming a needle in a haystack scenario. The truth is this, at least in my opinion, for our music to flourish like it once did, artists and patrons have to change their thinking and mindset. The music now produced lacks the ability to inspire, its shallow and depressing.
The subjects being discussed are repetitive, the majority of artists are doing and talking about the same thing, where is the inspiration?
Another challenge for our music is the fact that only few Jamaicans actually buy the music irrespective of the quality or the artists, however, I'm not sure what the artists are interested in more, is it sales or social media likes, the latter seems to be the trend.
We have reached a stage where it's not the quality of the music that gives it airtime but the artist or producer's ability to pay, when an industry reaches that point its over.
For the music to get back on track it will take a collective effort by people who appreciate the music. There are people that come on social media and blah blah as if they have the answer but if you look beyond the surface you'd realise they are a major part of the problem, their ignorance is bliss, stop listening to people that make a lot noise on social media, it's all hot air from the same people who are destroying our music.

Statically every single artist should be able to sell Gold in jamaica easily! Why and how? We have a population of over 2 million people living here, it only takes 500k sales to sell gold.... We don't support anything Jamaican and anything Jamaican managed is never transparent nor can be held accountable, don't believe me? Ask the local artists and producers about these departments, the Jamaican Radio stations, JACAP, JAMMS, Zojak and Hapilos just to name a few!.... They may sign the artist for a moment, then drop them. Use Tylor Perry's formula; produce professional and quality songs. Reggae is a style of music and Jamaica has no control.
