    • @Allegro_Giusto

How so? Are you implying anyone who differs from your opinion are from a xenophobic and racist standpoint? Because that would be extremely narrow minded no? Not to mention hypocritical in expressing generalistic views of a group of people just because you don't agree. That'd be mirroring the thought process of one's you hate. It beggars belief that some people on both sides of the FOOTBALLING opinion can't accept or understand each other, it's very childish.
Edit: For those of you who like to jump in and not read, I was in favour of Tuchel. Calling out dim generalisation is the point with clear inability to debate as proven below. It's pathetic how blown out of proportion the whole thing is showing how people cannot take in others opinion. People really to grow up on both sides.

    • @Allegro_Giusto

@redeye-ldn Who is? Are you another making an unintelligent assumption? No one's discriminating in the true sense of it, respectfully, that's completely disingenuous in context of what it's regarding. They are stating their preference purely on the basis of the spirit of the competition in national representation.
It's a fair merited opinion on that basis, and it's just an opinion. I like Tuchel, but I understand the point of wanting a manager of the same nationality. It's not outlandish, wrong, a new concept, or exclusive to football and England. Other countries follow the same notion.
It's just an opinion guys with merited reasoning. It's literally the default position of a national tournament, and they don't wish to waver from that regardless even if it means not having the most talented manager available. They simply feel it isn't in the very principle of the tournament and it's "cutting corners' to fill in until we have a quality English manager. Because that's exactly what's happening anyway.
What I find more amazing is people on either side can't understand the others preference. We all don't have to agree, it's opinion, and some people are passionate about it. No side is wrong or ultimately discriminating, context matters. Making such acute generalisations of one side of the argument reflects a poor understanding of the opposing view. Grow up? Or don't.

      A) Please speak like a normal human being would speak in conversation. You sound like a Redditor.
      B) Other countries are either: Winning things with their national managers, worse than us, have actually good managers from their own country (that are available for international management!), or don't have a manager from their own country. Last time England won anything, most of us weren't alive. I understand how it might be "Ideal" to have an English manager. England aren't in an "Ideal" situation. Don't give a toss which manager we get, so long as they're good.

    • @paulie-g
      @paulie-g 2 місяці тому

Not everyone who thinks England manager ought to be English is doubting Tuchel. Carragher, for example, thinks international football ought to be 'best of ours' vs 'best of theirs', meaning both players *and* managers, and that bringing in a foreign ringer as manager because English ones aren't up to snuff feels like cheating, same as if you drafted a foreign player in because your country was weak in that position. And he does rate Tuchel tactically. I don't know anyone who genuinely thinks he's not an elite manager, at least tactically/technically (whether his man management is good enough at the top end/with modern players is an open question, not helped by following Klopp at Mainz and Dortmund because of the comparison, and having a run of managing difficult clubs with too many political problems in Chelsea, PSG and Bayern). I'm not English, so I have no dog in this fight, but I fear for Tuchel with the British press who love tearing the national team and successful people in general down. I can already see headlines about discontent in the camp and pretend nostalgia for "Southgate's club England environment" and how Tuchel is 'aloof'. If this job blows up in his face, and it can - England aren't as good as the English think it is (some untouchable players like Kane fundamentally don't perform when playing top opposition for example) - he's going to have trouble getting another top job, given he already has a reputation as difficult for ownership to work with. I'd say he's best suited to Italy (they love highly tactical managers and disciplinarians are viewed positively), but they rarely employ foreign managers. I just don't see where he goes if this doesn't go well - presumably Klopp is nailed on as next German national team manager (if his association with the toxic RB doesn't tarnish his image), he's done pretty much all the superclubs that would hire someone like him (so not RM), leaving just clubs that are a very bad fit given his history with politically difficult clubs (ie Barca, ManU, etc). Not a Liverpool manager, I don't think (we need a manager we can connect with on a personal level, although I wouldn't mind the appointment personally if Slot doesn't work out).

Fact is, Kane just doesn't produce when faced with top opposition/playing against better teams, and that's what you need to win finals. He also can't be the future of the side given age and injury record. The trouble is, playing Kane requires you to set up in a way where you can't just drop in, say, Watkins or someone else. I do rate Kane, just not as much as you seem to.

Who was the last really good English coach who consistently won trophies with club teams? I think that dried up in the 1980's. If Bobby Robson had managed win the 1990 WC, would that have made any difference to the current dearth of good English coaches ?

Southgate's legacy will be the culture and togetherness within the team. Tuchel will benefit from that I think. He can get straight into the nitty gritty and not worry too much about the other stuff.
I predict he'll give us 2 tournaments and then itll end on a sour note.
Result wise I think we'll win the next Euros....

@@lisapoole4350 *any* player can be dropped - even Saka. To be honest his recent performances for England haven't exactly set the pitch alight, have they.

Mr Tucal does not come across as a “Yes Sir” man that the English FA like. This is a huge gamble that will either lead to a trophy or will go off like a Bomb… hence the 18 month Contract..Lets hope as our 3rd Choice (Pep, Klopp etc) he gets us a trophy. After this it will be between the top English Coaches.. Eddie Howe is my favourite

I feel that until more ENGLISH COACHES manage the top EPL clubs it's going to
be harder for the FA to appoint an ENGLISHMAN on a consistant basis.
However if Tuchel delivers the WC title to ENGLAND in 2026 then the ENGLISH fans
will not care his being GERMAN.
Something that goes forgotten is that to win a tournament it requires a collective effort
from the coaching staff as a whole so Tuchel will have ENGLISH coaches on his staff
    to help him.

At last, honest, considered and thoughtful discussion about a football topic. The British media think sensationalising and making everything binary is what we all want, as if we’re all thick as f@ck. Gareth Southgate I’m sure wanted to win and very nearly did, but oh how boring it was to watch. Nobody ever remembers the runners up. And nobody will ever look back at our lost finals and think we gave it a good go. I hope Tuchel goes for it, even if we do lose.

Why aren't there many great English candidates?
The F.A. keep the pool of talent small by making access to courses limited and where there are courses they are ridiculously expensive for anyone wanting to become a coach who isn't an ex- pro from the premier league.
The latest figures I could find for Uefa Pro Licence qualified coaches is from 2017 sums it up why German managers are more successful in English football compared to English managers.
    Spain - 2,379
    Germany - 861
    Italy - 826
    Turkey - 548
    Czechia - 391
    England - 383
Is it any wonder that we have to choose a top candidate from outside England. The pool of highly qualified candidates is so much greater when you look beyond England.
The F.A. needs to open up many more courses at a much more affordable rate and increase the talent.

I feel pretty confident that as soon as it looks like it isn’t working, and the longer it isn’t working, the more toxic and offensive the punditry will be towards him. Not the fans. The ex-pro pundits. Who are the most toxic contributors to football commentary today. The fans will get on board too of course, they’ll take their lead from the toxic pundits and the tone that will come from them.
Then he’ll be abused as a person. In person and on social media. And the same pundits will talk about how terrible that is. Without irony or shame.
    Pretty standard procedure these days.

Good luck to Tuchel, but IMO he’s going to face the same barriers as all his predecessors. he’s only got an 18 month contract. It’s a sad indictment of English football that we have to turn to a foreign manager to manage our national team. And its not Xenophobic; it’s the very point of international football for English players/coaches v other nations’s best. Hiring Tuchel is just a sticking plaster anyway because the underlying structures are not there to help the national team to win major trophies. It’s one of the reasons why England haven’t won a major trophy in 60 years.
