  • Destiny is a streamer and a UA-camr.

    Expect to learn what the future of media might look like, why being tribal is so dangerous, whether we have passed peak wokeness, Destiny’s thoughts on the 2024 election, if the red pill movement is dead or not, what Destiny thinks about his most recent ADHD diagnosis, his reaction to the internet chiming in on his divorce and much more...

      You guys dismiss the Red Pill movement. And I understand some of what you're saying. But what you both fail to realize is that its becoming stale and repetitive because you can't move past the red pill unless there is consensus and acknowledgement on both sides of the truths its trying to show. There is still half the people who want to say the realities the red pill are pointing out aren't true. So thats why you end up in a merry-go-round of repeated content

    On the ADHD: My 27 yo son has recently opened himself up to the understanding that he has ADHD. It has been an evolution for him that has allowed him to understand that he is not the "loser" he thought he was. He was constantly questioning why he struggled with some basic tasks, and now he is more accepting of himself and allowing some grace. It has been life changing to eliminate the negative self-talk.

    • @ron4tron
      @ron4tron 2 місяці тому +11

      That's awesome to hear. I hope he finds a great path that works for him moving forward.
      Everyone's different, even among those with ADHD. And while I'm not sure if you've played many video games before, I'll mention a video game analogy to ADHD, that an old friend once told me.
      The way he described his ADHD was like an inherent modifier on his person, that most didn't really have: "Deal 2x the damage, receive 2x the damage."
      I'm not much of a gamer myself, but the point was that his ADHD wasn't necessarily good or bad. That weakness may be 2x as difficult to deal with, and it can be hard to make any progress without getting a better handle on it. One may get a slower start, and end up "falling behind" as a result, maybe even far more than what you feel should be the case, just like he did through high school and somewhat beyond.
      When he started to figure himself out, it was like he performed 2x as well at everything he approached. Doesn't mean things weren't messier than most, but at a glance, he'd seem like he was "lucky" or simply "gifted." He wasn't. His mind just operated a lil differently, and while he once despised this, he now wouldn't have it any other way.
      I'm still working my way towards feeling the same, and I hope I'm getting there, in whichever form that may take for me. And the same for your son, in whichever form it may take for him.

This one cultural ideology pushes every differing opinion off the edge of being tolerable because the premise of your culture is that everyone is trying to achieve maximum selfishness in order to win in society. @MsChampagneSanity 2 місяці тому +1

      This. I feel he presents himself as having thought these things through deeply, but really only provides quite superficial and reductive thinking. For example, stating he doesn’t have a political affiliation (but xlearly states he’s left leaning) and says he’s happy to change his mind based on evidence but Ben Shapiro wouldn’t? Where’s the evidence to suggest such. He doesn’t give others the same grace he gives himself. But, I did find this very interesting

    • @skenderdokovic
      @skenderdokovic 2 місяці тому +4

      @@MsChampagneSanityyou completely missed the point, his main point was that he will not lose money for stating an opinion that’s affiliated with a specific political leaning, and you can see this over the course of his career.(getting banned on twitch for trans issues). Or how he was also hyper attacked by the left for his BLM takes. And he still finds a way to take these unpopular opinions within his “group” (ex;israel v Palestine). However with Ben Shapiro his whole company is based off being conservative and the identity of the daily wire is conservatism which can only lead you to believe that the success of Ben’s company will pressure him to take certain positions

    • @MsChampagneSanity
      @MsChampagneSanity 2 місяці тому

      @@skenderdokovic I did understand this. It is well known the daily wire isn’t left, but it does also house centrist views too and those of the silent majority (hence its meteoric rise). The reason I say this is because within its own house, creators have butted heads and disagreed. Vehemently. Ben, I feel, would follow the “facts” if say, the science or literature reflected it. However, he is a religious human and takes a hard bias stance in some (not all) cases. He’s been vocal against and for trump for example, pro and against many other issues. It’s not as clean cut to suggest he simply wouldn’t change his mind. As if it’s set in stone. I think he’d agree. But would he change from right (or centre right or libertarian) to left? Absolutely not. There’s nuance missing from destinys argument. That was MY point. That you missed.

    On ADHD. For any parents who feel like Destiny did, thinking because their kid can focus on video games he must not qualify as ADHD. ADHD is not the inability to pay attention. It is a deficient ability to DIRECT your attention where you want it to go. It is more difficult for an ADHD person to direct their attention toward something that is low stimulation (homework+hygiene). It is also more difficult for an ADHD person to direct their attention away from something that is high stimulation (videogames).

    "This is such a good conversation" comments are incredibly significant, because it's a response to where we are at as a society right now. People agree that it is more important to create meaningful dialog between people who disagree with each other than to determine a "winner" and we are trying to incentivize and promote that kind of dialog. Once we get to a place where we feel there is enough respect between people who disagree and that we've reduced the amount of polarization, we'll be able to talk more about the content of the conversations themselves.

    For the ADHD stuff, since we can't fully figure out the brain. If you appear 'normal' then people think you have no defects whatsoever. People really only believe in stuff that is obvious like Schizo, Diabetes, Seizures. For some reason, we just become hyper-skeptical to anything we can't see since internal experience is subjective. Even chronic pain people or people with high anxiety get the same criticism. Really annoying to deal with.

      That's a combined effect from those masking to appear normal and the tons of un-diagnosed crying wolf to explain away their lack of self-development. Ha! I wish! Look up the "do you believe in god" polls here on YT. 80% answer yes. So, yeah.
      Also, "we should become hyper-skeptical to anything we can't see", as in, we should be skeptical and not believe it until it's demonstrated to us beyond reasonable doubt and educate ourselves on what demonstrate and beyond reasonable doubt mean. Only then we should believe things, before that it's "I don't know". For example, I. Ask me if I believe in ADHD. I don't know enough about the problem to answer that I know for a fact, but I believe in it, because I trust the doctors, same as I believe in cancer, but I haven't seen those myself, but there's enough evidence for me to believe that they're true.

    The 'team sports' "either you're with us or against us" shit has literally driven me so far off the edge of online politics that I don't even bother anymore. I used to be willing to roll around in the mud with anybody but in the last year or two it's literally only been trying to play janitor to my own side and simultaneously prove that I'm not the second coming of hitler. I'm just going to do my thing and stay out of it until the needle shifts back to a more reasonable place.

    • @jasonwrner
      @jasonwrner 2 місяці тому

      The needle will not be shifting back to a more reasonable place any time soon. At least not without hell on earth being unleashed first. Truly I mean that because if things go that bad....more accurately when things do go that bad. There will be nowhere to hide or shelter either alone or with family and friends. The more people in your group the more likely you are to be targeted. A war now would be everywhere simultaneously and it will be ultra violent compared to what we've "seen" so far. For one thing, we've almost reached the point where they no longer need any of us left alive to do their work. That's what we know, so more than likely they've already reached that point and surpassed it.
      You're right though, to a point, society does behave as a pendulum most of the time. Things get pushed too far and then eventually there is a pullback, a correction. However, there are also extreme cases when the pullback is consistently deficient to correct the initial tangent. This is exactly what we've seen over the last 15-25 years. When this happens think of the pendulum of a clock, now imagine that clock is sitting in a canoe and a 300lb unathletic asthmatic is attempting to haul himself up and back into the canoe. He just keeps pulling down and down and down never letting up, which buries the pendulum far to one side. Everyone knows how that story is going to end. Eventually that grandfather clock is gonna tip all the way over, smack chubby Michael Phelps on the head, render him unconscious and he's going to drown. Have no fear, society is actually the canoe, the people alive today, yeah they're actually the fat guy, they're fkd. But the canoe will float away, probably get knocked around in the stream a little and eventually either turn upright or find it's way to shore. Unless there's a massive waterfall. Or a series of them.

I’m not surprised he eventually went to see someone and was prescribed medication, he seems wound up like a spring. I also thought it was positive that he admitted advising people to cut off toxic parents was wrong. Each person’s family is unique and it’s incredibly difficult to advise even your closest friends on matters like these. Podcasts on ‘values’ have to tread very carefully. Destiny is correct that with complexity comes more ability to insert bullshit explanations from outside like wild conspiracies, but the flipside of that is that complex organisations also hide information from within as well. That is members in large heirarchies lose direct contact with the costs of their actions and will have an incentive to reap benefits that push risks onto others, while obscured by the complexity. Actual conspiracies, corruption, incompetence, and moral hazards are therefore all bound to increase with the scale.

      Because everything Destiny disagrees with are just "talking points" or "popular soundbites", if somebody he agrees with does it, it's just brushed over. He's making his side "complex and deep" while everyone on the right is a caricature of themselves. That's how he's making you believe what you believe and automatically delegitimize any opposing comment in your mind. I'm actually very close to center, and i love watching Destiny, but when he talks about biases of other people he fails to realize that he has strong biases too. If a right wing person speaks he would always take a position of "well lets explore how this may be wrong interpretation" if someone on his side speaks, his position is "well lets selectively find clues that support our opinion"

      He does however miss the point entirely regarding college. The elites don't send their kids to Ivy League schools for the same reasons average people go to college. Elites do it for connections. Normies do it for "education". The connections are still as powerful as ever while the education (and the often debilitating cost) is becoming worse and worse.

All of the information you need is readily available from the best sources globally at the price of free. The US College racket is an archaic institution delivering an abhorrent tainted product whose price is only possible through the federal government butting their heads into the matter with predatory loans. Stop believing intelligence, skill, talent or education is dispensed by these buildings. It isn't. It's a receipt that proves you completed a course. That's it. What’s amazing is Destiny not 2 days ago grilled Candace when she said Americans are getting dumber. Great evidence of her claim in the debate, that Destiny is a pure contrarian. One of the most well articulated, intelligent delusional people I’ve ever heard debate.

      That’s because she said so many dumb things, and within that context, he was right to challenge her. Saying that people are becoming dumber in general is different from saying “…and so that’s why school is bad”. She is probably the most dishonest personality out there, and that’s saying a lot.
      Destiny also said that people are just acting dumber due to social pressures, but when you press them, most have the ability to think more critically.
