    Stoke's throw ins are a part of Premiership legend. Was of course aided by the height and physicality of the squad: Kenwyne Jones, Robert Huth, Ryan Shawcross and later Peter Crouch - as a goalkeeper, you knew you bloody earned your pay playing Stoke that week

    In that match where Myhill put the ball out for a corner Windass went and did his warm-up just by where Delap was going to launch a long throw. Windass got booked for it😂

    The game Arsenal lost to Stoke in the FA Cup 3-1 Delap did play, so Tony's memory is obviously failing him. It was the 2010 FA Cup Fourth Round.

    From memory, I think Rory Delap was one of those whose throw in was (ridiculously HUGE!!!) and yeah wasn't an incredible player by any stretch but that was one part of his game that stood out anyways

    I am pretty sure I saw delap at Southampton under Strachan using the rocket launch throw tactic many times before his Stoke days. Was a great servant to the saints.

      I know it is talked about on this podcast, but I've not listened to it yet. However, I have heard from very reliable sources that Gnabry just wasn't anywhere near what he'd become...attitude was shocking...aptitude was shocking. Albion experience was apparently the wake up call for him and made him realise he had to alter his behaviour.

    Rory Delap was my nemesis as a kid 12/13 years old, he was left back and I were right winger.
    I'm not lying by saying I usually got the better of him. I was very good as a kid and played for North East of England at one time Wembley Arena paper boy's 5 a side. Always used to make me smile throwing those bombs in to the box!! 😂

    I couldn’t understand the obsession with Rory Delap’s long throw. He obviously had more to his game than that. Also, Steve Sims was doing this for Watford in the 80s. And I’m sure he wasn’t the only one.

    The thing is, anyone can train themselves to do a delap throw in, start with a light ball work up to heavy ball, by the time you can throw the heavy ball far the actual match ball is like throwing a balloon... It's a learnable skill, not a random talent ✌🏻

      The fact that the truth of the matter is ONLY Glenn Whelan comforted Ramsey whilst all the Arsenal player surrounded the referee who, the truth be told didn't even initially go to book Shawcross because it wasn't a bad tackle!!! We still after go over and over again with the sad story . It was just unfortunate accident. And they didn't boo Ramsey being stretchered off it was Wenger and HIS reaction, that added fuel to your and the rest of AFC delusions

    Definition of narcism - Tony Pulis

  • @Viewer41
    @Viewer41 6 місяців тому +8

    Wenger is the most overrated manager in Premier League history.
    Here's why;
    - Arsenal are a big club, and he only won 3 Premier League Titles in 22 years.
    - Wenger only reached ONE Champions League Final despite having 22 attempts.
    - Wenger only won the Premier League whilst it was a 2 horse race 98, 02, 04. As soon as Chelsea came along, then Man City, he won 0 Premier League Titles.
    - He was apparently famous for finding unknown talent for cheap, which he did with Henry, Anelka etc. Yet as soon as the stadium was built, Wenger FAILED to repeat this, and the stadium was blamed for him not winning the Premier League. Why couldn't Wenged find the next Henry, Viera etc during the stadium building years? Oh, yes, he couldn't handle a Title race that was more than 2 horses.
    - Wenger actually went 9 whole years with ZERO trophies.
    - Big clubs are measured on winning two things. Domestic League Title and Champions League. Nothing else.
    So, yes it was good for Wenger to win a few FA Cups, that isn't the ultimate aim of a big club and a so called world class manager.
    - Apparently Wenger invented fitness, diet and nutrition. Big Sam was already using sports science and nutrition in the 90s, whilst he was in the lower leagues.
    - 1971 - 1995 was 24 years BEFORE Wenger.
    Arsenal won 3 League Title and 0 Champions League Titles.
    1996 - 2018 was 22 years (almost an identical time frame).
    Wenger years.
    Arsenal won 3 Premier League Titles and 0 Champions League Titles.
    Did Wenger really improve Arsenal? Or did he just win what the club had already been used to wining in an almost identical timeframe.
    Yes, I know.
    The Truth Hurts.
