  • THE TIME HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!! We get to take the SleeperGTP down the road to see how everything does. still needs more work, but it's getting closer and closer to being done!
    For anyone who may be wondering, the high pitched noise is a split vacuum line for my fpr and the clicking noise when turning is the sound a detroit locker makes when turning. Had someone mention it so I figured I'd let everyone know here. thanks for watching!
    Also, consider checking out the t-shirts I've made available and showing your support by picking one up! teespring.com/stores/autotechtylers-store

      You said it bro. I love my my 01 Grand Prix so much. I sold it like a fold because I had no idea how or even if I could have done the Cavalier 5-speed swap with the Jeep CV axle with help from a machine shop. I saw it driving around 5 yrs after I sold it. It had perfect compression too. Water out the tale pipes every start up. Only had 85,000 miles when I got her salvaged put like $350 in it after I bought for $850. I sold it at 95,000 miles llike a fool for $1300.

      I was told to make it work is as you can afford. Buy an old model camaro/transam/firebird as your parts rwd car. Then slowly convert everything over, however it will require fabrication work like this gentleman has done to his. I'll just go one step further and also swap the front end and the dashboard from the 04 gto.

      You’re a 100% right I hate Pontiac started turning into a abandoned brand and starting using other people things they use to be the trend setters back then early 2000s came and they started doing what Dodge does and started taking parts from European brands being lazy and wonder why no one bought them and currently Dodge is turning right back into that old brand about to go out of business rebadging Alfa Romeo crossovers

      The main reason I didn't want to just buy an already RWD LS car is because I wanted to take on the challenge of doing this conversion. The knowledge and experience that I have gained from doing this project has been substantial and I wouldn't have been able to get that from just buying a car. This project was meant to be a platform for learning new things from the very beginning. Now that I have achieved what I have with this car I know that on the next wild thing I decide to do I'll have a new set of skills to be able to apply to it. And I gotta say. The look on people's faces when I open the hood of this car and they see what's going on is absolutely priceless haha

    • @AutoTechTyler

      I've have had some concern expressed to me about those. It is a 5/8 grade 8 bolt with a thick walled 3 inch aluminum spacer that has a flanged nut on top with the spindle drilled to have a perfectly snug fit for the bolt to go through. I have had no real issues from this as far as flex, bends, or loosening up. I plan to eventually have either custom spindles made or have stock ones modified in the future, but for now I have placed my concerns elsewhere because this solution is holding it's own so far.

    It really sucks gm never made one of these with a V8 rwd. I want to do this to mine so badly. Mines in great shape. Perfect dark forest green paint job. No rust underneath. I paid 100$ for it with a blown head gasket with only 105,000 miles on it. I had the heads resurfaced and replaced the head gasket, radiator, water pump, thermostat, and the water reservoir. I flushed the system and put regular coolant in it. Car runs great. Great acceleration for a V6. But, one day I want to make a track car out of it. I could just go get a car that's ready. But, I like sleepers. My plan is to stick an ls engine in it. I don't want to take it to drag races. I want it on a track. I think this will be a good car to do it. Since I've only put 500$ into it. I can get what I need from a junk yard and gut the car. So max money I'll put into it. Would be around what I'd think 6k. I want to turbo the ls engine. Maybe 10k into the project. But, I should end up with a track beast. Suspension will be redone. These cars should've been born with an ls. They're smaller than the Camero and Corvette. Gm sucks for not putting those engines in these cars. Garenteed they would've sold a hella alot more of them if they had.

  • @GMCGUY-
    @GMCGUY- Рік тому

    I had exactly the same one but it was an 01 Pontiac Grand Prix GT two-door coupe with the 3.8 l V6 200 horsepower I've put a cat back exhaust system on mine when I first bought it and if you really want to open this thing up to make it sound really good you have to put on flowmaster super tens for the mufflers I had to get them customly installed because they wouldn't fit correctly so they have to do some adding this and adding that and cutting a little bit of this for those mufflers to actually work but once they put them on they look great and it only cost me an extra $150 for them to convert those to fit otherwise I would have to return them and then I wouldn't be able to use super tens. It sounded absolutely fantastic I had it on the car for about 6 months but where I lived the neighbors were complaining on how loud it was so unfortunately I have to take the mufflers on and I have to put some quieter flowmasters on it still loud but just not as loud as the super tens . Be prepared flowmaster super 10 mufflers are extremely loud I have a dual exhaust setup of these on my pickup truck. I replace 60% of the exhaust with a flowmaster exhaust system dual exhaust system and that exhaust system had the super 10 muffler 18 horsepower gain on a 5.3 l vortec V8

      In this video it has an LQ4 from an 04' Silverado 3500. It currently has an LQ4 from an 02' Sierra Denali. It's a hell of a good time that's for sure

    I want to do a rear wheel conversion with a ls3 in my 06 g6 gt. I love the body sleekness. I’m starting a good job to buy everything . Think I can get it done?

      @AutoTechTyler  2 місяці тому +1

      Of course you can do it! Anything is possible. It'll be a lot of work and definitely isn't for the faint of heart, but if you are determined enough and stay dedicated to the project, you'll definitely be able to make it happen! What you're talking about should be a pretty cool car when it's all said and done.

    I found your instagram after looking up 3.8 Miata. Did it ever work out? Did you get a rear sump pan or cut the subframe?

    • @AutoTechTyler
      @AutoTechTyler  3 роки тому

      I unfortunately had to sell that car before I moved to North Carolina. All I did on that car to make the oil pan work is notch the 3800 pant to clear the subframe. It wasn't bad to do at all. That was a fun little car.

    Better do something about that pinion bearing.

      Used r&p bought from a swap meet that was 21 years old. Have a full video detailing the assembly of the third member. All preloads and backlash are within spec with a good pattern, but still noisy. Can only assume that the r&p is worn in a way that it's noisy which is likely why I got it cheap and at a swap meet. Noise is also likely being amplified by the poly bushings in the rear control arms. Already have plans to replaced r&p with a new set once I have the money to do so. For now I will tolerate the noise and focus my efforts on other things the car is needing right now. All in due time.
