Do you know who designed the Air Jordan 3? Tinker Hatfield, of course! The Air Jordan 3 ‘Tinker’ pays homage to his original design, including the Nike Swoosh on the side that didn’t make the final cut for the OG Air Jordan 3.
Nothing about this shoe is looking right…this is going to take some serious restoration work. Buckle up, this is going to be a challenging one! Welcome back to another episode of Restorations w/ Vick…let’s get started!
Of all of the problems with this shoe, the worst is probably the shape. Look at how smashed the heel is! After giving the Jordan 3 a thorough clean with the Signature Kit and Laundry System, the shoe actually regained its shape and looks much better, structurally speaking.
Let’s move on to the nitty-gritty restoration work. Vick repainted the entire midsole, unyellowed the outsole with Sole Revive, and dyed the suede upper. Each step was crucial in order to get these Tinker Jordan 3s back to factory feel and finish.
After spraying the shoes with Water + Stain Repellent to lock in the dye and finishing the Elephant Print with a hit of Mink Oil, these bad boys are ready to go.

Low key the way you revive the shoes especially repainting them is so much better than how they come from the factory with paint strokes and so many minor defects. Vick does a great job of avoiding these things with his quality restorations.

if the laundry system doesnt get the smell out of your shoe, you can always use a little bit of rubbing alcohol to kill the bacteria that is causing the smell! (beware tho, I pretty sure rubbing alcohol will dry out leather so this primarily works with the mesh/fabrics on the inside)
Yeah you’d have to recondition the leather immediately after, otherwise the leather will dry out and start cracking

Where did you get that dual shelf Nylon cabinet to whiten the midsole? It looks sick ! I'm a mechanic by trade and planned on building my own box using 1/4in steel plate welded together, then hinge the grow light assembly as the lid ( but I'd prefer it not weigh 40lbs , lol. Second option was plexiglass, pre-fab all the pieces and mirror tint the inside of all the segments then assemble it. Lots of variables in the second option, too many to even list, from reflective quality of tint, temp inside from light distorting plexi etc. I was wondering if you have tried either ? Had a better idea ? Or could let me know where you got yours ? Thanks as always , yet another amazing resto that you make appear effortless

I got some bred 13s that need some work ..and space jam 11s...he got game 1s...tinker 3..fourth of July 3s(.red blue and sail)and the black cements 3 and I think I still got the pink salmon ladder dunks I have to check..that all need work hmu..

Can I put angelus white leather paint on the toe cap. Because I do have a bottle of god of souls but it’s not working it’s still yellow, so just wanted to know if I can just use the white paint with a light brush?
you probably could if you prep it with acetone

My AJ3 Black Cat is the worst. Midsoles with cracks, nubuck's a bit damaged and the elephant skins are a bit scratched or worn off due to unintended bumps or contacts.

Great job As usual Vik but….. (just my opinion) you say Trashed!! When I personally just think they are Worn (which is what trainers are for right?🤔)
Not everyone buys their Trainers to NOT wear them or keep them brand new unless they are a collector (which to me is also a waste) they should be worn or as is the case they crumble and fall apart with no use making them a bad investment overall.
Don’t get me wrong I also collect and have around 35 pairs but I also wear every pair of what I’ve got.

Watching your videos, i restore a pair of air max 90s using angelus flat white, but the paint of the midsole crack after one wear, is it cos im painting it too.thick? Can you please tell me why it happens?

Does the bleach method you used on the toe also work for stitching on leather panels like the Jordan 13, or will that ruin the leather?
We only recommend using it on the soles of the sneakers. However, UV lights can help with the stitching and leather.

Hey what cleaning pack should I use to clean my Yeezy cream 350 (little yellow on the sole) and some small mud stains on the rest of the shoe. But overall it’s clean. And I got some new balance where I need to restore tho clean the suede 😊
We would recommend the Signature Kit for most mesh/ knitted sneakers.
How do you keep repainted mid soles from cracking after wearing them once the restoration is complete? I can’t figure it out on mine. Thanks
It is really tough especially if you are wearing them daily.

You can, but we recommend our Sole Revive it is stronger!

Be careful with Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow, I’ve been using this product for a few years now. If not properly used or not properly heat set/cured, the dye can rub off when wet. However, if used properly it’s a great weapon to have in the arsenal for customizers.

Do you put them in the dryer after wash?
We do not. We never recommend putting your shoes in the dryer because it can cause damage. We allow them to air dry in front of a fan or in the sun.

Hey Vick exactly what’s the name of the tape you use? I bought a crappy tape and the paint bleed to parts of the sneaker I didn’t want it to.
