Actually world-class technical instructions in every GamerPoets guide. Too many instructionals have wacky pacing and so much fluff that distracts and not enough clarity on how and where to do the things -- but you've got a serious economy of language and visuals here. Straight down to business. Literally better than most professional technical writing I have seen. Pretty sure I could do anything if you wrote a guide for it.

Thankful you are feeling better! With the newest update to Skyrim AE I am still having problems getting my modded game stable; however, this video helps me not feel so intimidated to just do a clean install to try and get it playable and modded again. You are a Godsend to this old girl.
Great video as always! A Quick Tip I use a lot, both in modding and otherwise, to get to appdata quickly, use %appdata% to go to appdata/roaming, or %localappdata% to go to /appdata/local.
Have you considered streaming or playthroughs....your tutorials break everything down barney style and are much appreciated...but DAYUM your voice is so soothing I could definitely appreciate some long form content.
Only have SSE and wouldn't need the video anyways (currently installing a wabbajack list) but I had to give my boy the view, comment and like, the triple wambo-combo

Thanks, good vid for a clean restart. Should may be add if using Vortex should deactivate all mods, etc, then you could then reactivate the mods you want to re-install (except those with old DLL's that need update by authors.). The only problem I had was I deleted the Creation Kit and could not find where to download it. Beth net kept installing Old rim Ckit into old rim folder, lol. (found your vid ckit fixes and install, a life saver, thanks.)
That would be a topic for a mod manager video :) and if you keep your mods you aren't starting fresh. If you go the route of starting over... start over 😉 Glad the videos have helped

How to actually use the creation kit is a broad topic. That could be a 40 hour long video lol. Change forms: load plug-in into ck. Save plug-in. It auto changes forms on save unless that's changed in recent months.
Not sure if it was covered by another comment - if you can't delete the Skyrim folder in the Steamapps/common due to a permissions issue (under your own username), you may be able to by deleting the contents first. That's what worked for me.
Hurray, he's back! Hope you're doing better! Uh, so one can deactivate even the four CC free mods (fishing, survival...) without problems? I thought that those were mandatory 😮
"Without problems" is up to you to decide :) lol. I'd leave them. If anything requires them (many mods will) the game won't work. And you can just deactivate survival mode on start up.

I don't know where toa sk this so just gonna post my question here: Do I need to clean the Creation Club plugins? LOOT detects ITM records on several of them.
Question. Some of my sounds mods dont seem to be working. Horse sounds. Horse footstep sounds, a werewolf footsteps sounds mod. Also nord mead and a white wine isnt like registering. I can see the bottles. But no key to pick it up. No interaction. Its weird. No merchants sell it anymore either... If i do this clean install, could it fix this issue? They were working but randomly stopped. Even the one with an esp. Uninstall. Re install. New game. Ive tried all sorts of things with no luck. Im guessing some other file isnt allowing it maybe, i dunno Also, will a clean install affect my mods or MO2? And lastly, do I absolutely "have to" delete my saved game?
If you delete mods and keep your save game the save either won't work or will be corrupted. A clean save is a fresh start. Start from scratch. Mod from scratch. I don't know the mods so I don't know what would cause it. Could be conflicts/load order issues. Could be old mods that don't work on the newer game (or vice versa). When I mod a add a few. Test the game. Make sure things work. Repeat. It's the only sure way to know what is causing issues in some cases. Can try xedit to look for specific conflicts

I saw skyrim uninstall is in the old windows uninstall program so I Ran RevoUninstaller, that program keep track of orphaned Registry Keys and Files that were created by the uninstaller and gives you an option to delete.
@gamerpoets would love to know how to recover missing items eg a Bow that is no longer in your list. Somehow it got lost or glitched software. and other technical repairs tweaks.
Hi, so I got the GOG SE version (the installation files say Special Edition). But, when I install it the directory say it's AE... the version in game is 1.6.695. I would like to use the community uncapper to go above 100. Is that just a bethesda thing? I am also using MO2..I did create a data/SKSE/Plugins in the Skyrim folder.. I don't know which address library to use... thanks for the video!!
ITMS and UDRS. Its up to you. There's never been a single source that could ever prove that cleaning would cause harm... and its hard to prove it helps,,, though many feel it does I don't know how much it matters either way. Skyrim LE benefited a lot from it, particularly for dawnguard, but that was a long time ago. If you want proper knowledge on it, ElMinsters and Sharlikran at the xEdit Discord are the best source for this stuff. ... just keep in mind that this video that we're talking on is about cleaning = )
for some reason when I open Skyrim special edition I cannot upgrade to anniversary edition. I have already purchased it and did the clean install like the video showed, but nothing seems to fix it. Any thoughts?
hey dude i have followed your guides step by step completely, trying for two days but nothing has worked. Every single time i completely do a clean install of skyrim and MO2, skse... everything but every time i launch the game using skse from the m02 application it acts as if my game is completely vanilla with no mods, i have everything enabled and have followed your instruction EXACTLY every single time. When i pause the game and go to creations it even shows all my downloaded stuff but its greyed out with no check mark. have been trying to solce this for 2 days
If you've done everything I'd tell you exactly how I would do it that doesn't leave me much room for conversation = ) If you have a chance stop in my Discord. Magus, Brandi or some of the others may know whats going on but you'll need to give them details when they respond.

There's so many versions of mods for different versions of the game now. All the game updates have been a pain the butt. It's probably something to do with different versions of things

I did a clean installation, "exactly" as you showed us. But MO2 won't recognize the folder, and when i play the game, with all my mods installed, in-game shows none of them. Just a new game. I verified the game, even repaired the folder, but nothing. Just a plain new game. I'm using GOG.
I'm confused. "Just a plain new game" and "when I play the game with all my mods installed". Two contradicting things. Either you have a clean install with no mods or you have mods installed = ) Keeping all your mods in MO2 is fine but once you load them in you no longer have a clean installation. It's now modded again. If MO2 is not recognizing the folder you new to check your file paths in settings and see that its actually pointing to the game folder. Seperate issue from cleaning the game.
I have a question I wanted to use wabbajack tempus mod list. But it requires AE but when I try and install the mod list it says AE content not installed even tho I opened the game and made sure cc was installed If I did a clean install of my Skyrim would it work forsure?
I've never used wabbajack. I'm not sure what each list requires. All the updates to the game probably require you to be on a specific version of AE for that modpack you are using to work. You'll need to do some extra digging on your mod list. Clean Install just sets the game back to how it was on day one. No mods (unless you have them in your mod manager still). No saves. No game folder tweaks. Clean game to start from.
Hi, for me skyrim always crash after clicking download button, every next time when i start the game this window never appears again, so game cant upgrade to AE. When i enter Creation Club then click download all owned mods, its instantly says download complete, but nothing is downloaded(checked in load order option). Any help with this situation? I'm fighting with it from 3 days, now i ended up here.
That sounds strange. I've never seen it not work. Sometimes the sites themselves can go down but they usually are working again within a day. I wish I had an answer. I'd reccomened wiping everything, like this video shows, but if you've done that I'm not sure what else it could be. Your PC storage isn't full? It's downloading a bunch of stuff to take up more storage space.
I wanted to say that your videos have helped me a lot so far. ❤ Especially when I started modding. 😵💫 Do you still recommend cleaning DLCs and CC content with SSEEdit? I saw a video of yours about this a while ago. But this is now marked as archived. Keep it up and stay safe! ☺
Hei is it possible that game version 1.6.1130 makes mods unusualy not working becuse i have installed Traverse the Ulvenwald mod and it only replaced pine trees and nothing more same goes to grass mods.
This video = ) Are you asking how to get them out of your mod manager? You delete them all. That's it. You do this process because modding messed something up and you can't figure out what happened. This way your game folder and all files are set back to the day you first installed the game.

Did a clean install and it did not download any of the creations at the menu, but I did get the pop up.

There's never been a single source that could ever prove that cleaning would cause harm... and its hard to prove it helps,,, though many feel it does I don't know how much it matters either way. Skyrim LE benefited a lot from it, particularly for dawnguard, but that was a long time ago. If you want proper knowledge on it, ElMinsters and Sharlikran at the xEdit Discord are the best source for this stuff. ... just keep in mind that this video that we're talking on is about cleaning = )

for some reason when I open Skyrim special edition I cannot upgrade to anniversary edition. I have already purchased it and did the clean install like the video showed, but nothing seems to fix it. Any thoughts?

hey dude i have followed your guides step by step completely, trying for two days but nothing has worked. Every single time i completely do a clean install of skyrim and MO2, skse... everything but every time i launch the game using skse from the m02 application it acts as if my game is completely vanilla with no mods, i have everything enabled and have followed your instruction EXACTLY every single time. When i pause the game and go to creations it even shows all my downloaded stuff but its greyed out with no check mark. have been trying to solce this for 2 days
If you've done everything I'd tell you exactly how I would do it that doesn't leave me much room for conversation = )

@@gamerpoets thank you for your response, i found out that the mod SSE engine fixes was for some reason breaking my game, i completely deleted that mod from all files and now the game works… weird but ig that’s missing for ya
There's so many versions of mods for different versions of the game now. All the game updates have been a pain the butt. It's probably something to do with different versions of things

I did a clean installation, "exactly" as you showed us. But MO2 won't recognize the folder, and when i play the game, with all my mods installed, in-game shows none of them. Just a new game. I verified the game, even repaired the folder, but nothing. Just a plain new game. I'm using GOG.
I'm confused. "Just a plain new game" and "when I play the game with all my mods installed". Two contradicting things. Either you have a clean install with no mods or you have mods installed = ) Keeping all your mods in MO2 is fine but once you load them in you no longer have a clean installation. It's now modded again.
If MO2 is not recognizing the folder you new to check your file paths in settings and see that its actually pointing to the game folder. Seperate issue from cleaning the game.

I have a question I wanted to use wabbajack tempus mod list. But it requires AE but when I try and install the mod list it says AE content not installed even tho I opened the game and made sure cc was installed If I did a clean install of my Skyrim would it work forsure?
I've never used wabbajack. I'm not sure what each list requires. All the updates to the game probably require you to be on a specific version of AE for that modpack you are using to work. You'll need to do some extra digging on your mod list. Clean Install just sets the game back to how it was on day one. No mods (unless you have them in your mod manager still). No saves. No game folder tweaks. Clean game to start from.

Hi, for me skyrim always crash after clicking download button, every next time when i start the game this window never appears again, so game cant upgrade to AE.
When i enter Creation Club then click download all owned mods, its instantly says download complete, but nothing is downloaded(checked in load order option). Any help with this situation? I'm fighting with it from 3 days, now i ended up here.
That sounds strange. I've never seen it not work. Sometimes the sites themselves can go down but they usually are working again within a day. I wish I had an answer. I'd reccomened wiping everything, like this video shows, but if you've done that I'm not sure what else it could be. Your PC storage isn't full? It's downloading a bunch of stuff to take up more storage space.

Hei is it possible that game version 1.6.1130 makes mods unusualy not working becuse i have installed Traverse the Ulvenwald mod and it only replaced pine trees and nothing more same goes to grass mods.

Are you asking how to get them out of your mod manager? You delete them all. That's it. You do this process because modding messed something up and you can't figure out what happened. This way your game folder and all files are set back to the day you first installed the game.
