To anyone who says this is too fast, a lot of times bands have to play their songs faster on shows like this because of time constraints. This song even has a longer intro on the album. They probably only gave them a certain amount of time since it's on tv.
If these kids hadn’t heard of these guys before this show, the opportunity to work with these geniouses has probably made them lifetime fans and opened them up to a whole new world of music. Wish everyone could experience that. Fucking fantastic.
This is the performance that put them on the map for me. Been a die hard fan ever since. Just saw them live for the first time yesterday. They were epic!!
Look up live version of Virgin. "Ha, lead singer looks like Zach Galifianakis." Keep watching. Drummer looks like Zach Galifianakis too. Cuts to the chorus, 3 of the girls are Zach Galifianakis. Now whole band is Zach Galifianakis. Everyone is Zach Galifianakis. Zach Galifianakis sits in David Letterman's chair and stares at the camera for the last 45 seconds without saying a word. Close my laptop, start crying. Cookie monster bursts in my room and starts throwing ferrets at me.
I'm usually against having the kids in any song, because I see it as "Oh, how cute" kind of thing . . . But DAMN do they make it so eerie. Amazing band and song
@hahaloves no the lead did something different from when we rehearsed it lol so we got thrown off. I was the chorister with the curly brown hair and blue eyes. BYC had an awesome time doing this. It was awesome. It was so exciting!
Re: the choir, true - they may only have been rehearsing for a few hours beforehand and some may never had heard the song before...and the "mistakes" add the genuine nature of the performance.
2023 and still watching this.
2024, yep
Drummer is incredible by the way. The music is, too. Gave me chills.

Yeah! They didn't even sing the first verse or chorus. They went straight into the second verse, so they definitely had to cut the song down some!
Also songs change in the time they're first recorded to how they're played live. And I think that adrenaline kicks in live.
100% time constraints are an issue.

Okk
Letterman has the best taste in music
💯

This is one of the best Letterman performances ever.
I agree. This, the REM debut, and the Future Islands performance are all top notch.
Absolutely

@PuccaPuccaDanceParty That's really cool you got to be on Letterman and with a band as sweet as Manchester Orchestra. They friggin' kill.
Its so cool !!!
Having a chorus present just made is absolutely amazing! Great job
I'm usually against having the kids in any song, because I see it as "Oh, how cute" kind of thing . . . But DAMN do they make it so eerie.

Re: the choir, true - they may only have been rehearsing for a few hours beforehand and some may never had heard the song before...and the "mistakes" add the genuine nature of the performance.

Would have liked to have seen these guys tour with Thrice. Would have been a great show.
@CrazyLeCarlson
I think even Andy realized how that sounded when Letterman said it. You can see him laughing in the background right after.
2:10 is glorious.
@bananajug1 it's on the album
@MrTyler1022 I did see them with them and yes it was a great show.
Който е тук след клипа на Цанов да хареса!

nick diaz ! #209
Fuck yeah man
Wish they could've played the entire song.
The drummer looks nothing like Zach Galifianakis. He just has a beard.
A lot of bands go in tv and are kinda meh, this performance was top notch, very well done.
@Sean Meagher hahahaha! Good one.
OMFG MY DAD HAS THIS GUITAR. MIGHT HAVE TO STEAL.

Can someone upload this video with greater audio volume?
Anyone know what that pedal off his board is? EHX germanium OD I think?
It's a shame the song was cut short by about 2 minutes.
(1:49-1:59) slicked back haired Dr Steve Brule and Ron Jeremy members of Manchester Orchestra....Who knew?
sounds like roky erickson - night of the vampire
@Random633
is it the baritone or standard?
@TheKittykill9 Who cares, still sounded cool and you got to be on tv with Manchester.
nice eye brows @ 2:16
@hahaloves in their defense, andy hull does have a tendency to change things up from time to time
