Hello Lucia, Welcome to the world that grumpy men tend to think of as their own. I have been working as a machinist, toolmaker, while welding and fabricating what we need on our farm. Grandpa is fortunate to have someone to hand the reins to at this inevitable part of our lives. You, and your husband are fortunate also, to have each other to hug and lean on during “those” times. My wife Diann and I have been married for fifty years, and are supportive of each other’s dreams and needs in life. This can be a great source of joy and comfort. My best to you and your family, in your adventure. Your’s, is the first lavender mill vise that I have
Lucia, it was a pleasure for me to find your channel and get to know your work and your challenges. I'm Brazilian and I try to follow MANY Russian channels, mainly related to the development of mechanical artifacts and, surprisingly for me, I discovered a lot of similarity between Brazil and Russia in this field, in the way of doing things, in sharing their way of doing things, I would say, even in the lightness of living and working (in detachment from what they do and how they do it). I've been learning A LOT from this follow-up of Russian videos (spoken in Russian, which I try to solve with UA-cam's automatic traditions). Today we have several Russians (usually Russians women) living in Brazil, spreading the Russian language and culture, and helping to bring our countries and our national souls closer together. A big hug.
Smart, talented, pretty, and able all at the same time. Nobody is perfect, but you're about as close as you can get. Love the channel. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing some of your life story with us.
Your grandpa must be so proud. I hope one day to have such a wonderful grandchild to pass down my teachings to. Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us strangers. Means a lot.
I love you, with genuine admiration. Your husband is so blessed to have you and you to have him to motivate, encourage and support you to blossom into the beautiful flower yet capable powerhouse that you are., You are a blessing to the rest of us! Thank you both! My life is better and joyous, having experienced your videos!!
Thanks Lucia for the background on the shop and yourself. I appreciate that you are self taught, and do not let thing stand in your way. Kudos to your husband for assisting you in any manner that he can. Also, thanks for the motivation to clean up my shop as well.
I was impressed by you and your wisdom from your first video and am impressed more with each video. I love that you are using your grandpa's shop and tools and that you have the support of you husband and family behind you. That makes for a winning ticket.
Thank You to your grandfather !! You and your husband together do a truly wonderful channel, and its so good to now understand your backstory. Im really proud of you for your interest, initiative and success, as well Im also proud of your husband for being a wise man to encourage and assist you to follow your interest. Here in Australia, most men seem to be not quite so evolved and many, many dont want women in 'trades' work. I know this from first-hand experience as a woman who went through hell doing an electrical apprenticeship. Although that was many years ago and things have definately improved, as the younger men are so much less closed-minded. So I get a lot of enjoyment watching your channel, and I look forward to seeing you complete your projects. Kind regards !!
I think it’s fantastic what you are doing, it’s incredible to see a woman that is a phenomenal self taught fabricator. I’m 34 with four children, three being girls. We watch your videos together and I think it’s very inspiring for them and myself to see the level you are at! As a self taught individual as well, I will be introducing them to welding/fabrication after watching your content. Thank you for what your doing, keep up the great work!
I'm not going to lie...I was 1st drawn to your channel by your appearance. A gorgeous woman welding? This I've got to see. But looks only get you so far. I keep coming back because your skills and projects are fantastic! Great channel. Your husband is one lucky guy.
From the USA......I would love to be your neighbor, I live outside of Washingto, DC. and everyone here is a paper pusher, can not even change a light bulb. Your building skill is great. What a nice person, thank you for all the videos. I am waiting for your skid steer project to start again. What a cool project.
Wow. A woman with a workshop, just what a man needs! Is this some sort of dream? Interesting story, very well spoken, enjoyed the video. It was actually uplifting to see something nice from Russia with all that is going on and from such an educated and talented woman. Grandpa is a lucky man to have you, you would make him feel so content, his woodshop is not lost and you have learned the skills to use his workshop. Amazing. Thankyou and Congratulations from Australia. In Aussie, we say, Good on ya mate for having a go! 👍
You've become my inspiration Lucia! I enrolled in a welding program and am going to start next month! The ability to create, design, fabricate, duplicate, use your mind and your hands to build things is the dream. I have always thought outside the box and know and believe that if you have a willingness to learn a skill like this or anything for that matter it will take you far in life. To anywhere. Anyplace. And you can sustain yourself on it for the rest of your life. Thank you Lucia for being an inspiration to us all but most importantly for those who have been told you can't do this because you're a girl!
The most important thing to learn welding is when to weld. There are better times to use the process and not so good times. Basically only weld when you should and have to. Don't use the when all you have is a hammer then everything is a nail approach. Only weld when it is appropriate.
@@1pcfred I totally agree. I like to think of myself as the anti welder. If it’s not structural then the less welding the better. Mechanical fastening keeps the job neat and doesn’t stress the metal like you would get if you over welded something. Just depends on your project I guess.
@@carbonunit6573 it mostly depends on the opinion of the person. I didn't reach my conclusions immediately. It took some time living with things I'd made to draw them. Just how to differentiate what's parts and what's pieces. Pieces you can weld together. Parts you should fasten.

You husband is quiet good at handling the production/direction aspects, plus all the behind-the-scene muscle for your channel. You are a very pleasant, articulate and confident as the host and narrator. Truly interesting and a rare treat to enjoy.
I too am a grandpa and over 2 years ago pushing age 80 I decided to buy a TIG welder and learn aluminum welding. After building a couple of steel projects to get started on the machine, one of which was a stand for my mill, I switched to the aluminum. That stuff is very hard to weld compared to steel, and I don't know how you picked up those skills so very fast. I sure did not. Also I have been self taught mostly from UA-cam where I found you when you first started your welding in the shop. My first aluminum project was a cargo sled to tow behind the snowmobile. Not nearly as difficult as the boat you used to improve your skills. Now I guess it's time to go to the shop and continue on the current project, an aluminum launch tower for my rockets. You are amazing!!!!!
I taught for 25 yrs and just started teaching in a wood shop. I am disheartening with teaching as I don’t do I tell. I wonder what my use to society is? I grew up in Canada in an apartment. Having a skill and passing on true knowledge has real meaning. Never give up what you’re doing, thank you!

About being clean - I remember reading something Rudy Kouhoupt said. He has published many books about his shop wisdom, wrote many articles about machining and took and developed his own photos for the articles. Someone once asked why you never saw metal chips in his photos... he said you would see them when it was important for them to be there. I loved that. You don't have to be greasy, dirty to be a good fabricator... When that's important to what you're doing then it'll show. lol
Over the years, I've watched so many UA-cam channels where the maker starts off very modestly with basic tools and skills, and I've enjoyed seeing them grow and improve and upgrade. I feel like I found Lucia's Workshop at the perfect time (a few months ago). She obviously has some brains and native talent, as well as a decently appointed shop to work in, and I can only imagine how awesome this channel will be in five years. I am looking forward to great things from her. I would also like to see her get folded into the group of makers that have similar channels and who collaborate on various projects. With her talent and personality, I could easily imagine joint efforts with the likes of Abom, Fireball Tool, This Old Tony, Inheritance Machine, Ca Lem, and even April Wilkerson... if Lucia found herself playing with wood. Honestly, how fun would it be to see her build something silly with Colin Furze?
I have 25 years of diverse experience and training and an engineering tradesman and I am profoundly impressed by your skill set developed in what seems like a very short time.. Your are an exceptional human ,,,,of course your family is so proud of you .Thanks for sharing your story
Lucia. You are an inspiration to anyone who thinks "I haven't had the schooling or training to tackle projects like that". I love your enthusiasm and the skills you've learned and by all accounts mastered are a real credit to you. Your grandpa and your husband being right behind you and supporting you no matter what shows the true meaning of family. Love from Sydney, Australia.
You are a rare and amazing soul Lucia, I'd like to toast your grandpa, your husband, and you - for helping to create such a wonderful life and story. Thank you so much for sharing, your sincerity and intelligence shines through all that you do. We are far more alike than I'd imagined, in many ways, and you even look like my sister (a lot!). So thank you sister, for contributing your knowledge, time, and skills to the benefit of others. I think I'm going to go ahead and get my channel launched now, I found your channel last night and you've already inspired me tremendously. Спасибо, сестра! 💙🙏
Thanks for the backstory Lucia. Not only is your content amazing, so is your editing. I know having a channel myself, thats a whole other skill in itself. Looking forward to more videos!
You are so very inspirational Lucia, I’ve been fabricating and welding for 40 years and am very impressed with your work. Can’t wait to see the completion of the skid steer
Lucia, as a grandfather I love that you’re being successful in YOUR grandpa’s space while he’s still around to enjoy and appreciate it! As a man, I love seeing such a charming and creative woman showing us part of her world… And as a fellow craftsperson I cannot thank you enough for your contributions to the craft world at large! THANK YOU!!!
Grand parents are the best. They have time and so much knowledge that your willing to listen to as they are not your parents. My grandfather was a fitter turner and could make anything probably like your grandfather. Enjoy as much time with him as you can I wish I'd spend more with mine. Thanks for sharing your story. 👍
For a banker, you have the most beautiful welds I have ever seen. Your grandfather must be extremely proud of you as well as the rest of your friends and family
Mad respect for leaving the bank job and getting into something that is actually productive. Props to your husband for encouraging you to do what you want and like. Thanks for the Q&A vid. Cheers from the U.S.S.A.

What an awesome story. I too was inspired by my Grandad. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to work at his side. I take any opportunity I can to work with family. Congratulations Lucia!!!!
Congratulations! Inspiring for men and women, boys and girls alike! With channels like yours, the future of STEM education is in good hands! Thanks for sharing this.
Hi Lucia, my name is Leonard. I think that it's so cool that you have chosen to put your grandfather's shop to such good use. I have picked up a few neat tricks and actually wanted to try and copy your plasma table when I get some free time. I would also like to say what a lucky man your husband is to have such a beautiful and talented wife that doesn't mind getting a little dirty in the shop. Also would it be possible for us to meet your grandfather? It would be an honor to meet and thank a man who was so instrumental I teaching and helping you when in his day was not so easy to do. Thank you for being how you are, don't ever change, Leonard
You’re a beautiful lady in just about every way possible and I bet your grandpa is thrilled beyond measure that you are using his shop and excelling like you are! I’m blown away by the things you build and the quality of your work especially considering how little time and experience you have as a fabricator, there are people who will work for a lifetime and not be able to turn out the work that you do. Keep up the good work!!
I have always noticed and enjoyed how you do all this work and keep your nails manicured and often work in open toed shoes. It is usually Grundy looking men doing the work. You are a breath of fresh air. I was telling my wife about you the other day. Your husband is a very lucky man. We appreciate him also and the support he is to you. Keep up the good work!
You are amazing. I am sending the link to this video to my grand daughters for inspiration. Please make more videos, I enjoy every one of them! Thumbs up!

Just amazing. You are beautiful, mechanically inclined, an engineer, very maticulas , and not only can you mig weld, but you can tig weld too. Very impressive.
Hi Lucia. I extend my heartfelt best wishes for grandfather's health . A difficult time for one like yourself who is very close to him. Your workshop enjoyment is very important as it has the benefit of being useful to be active and creative while remaining valuable to those about us. Thank you very much for the introduction to your life and self. Very interesting. I wish Russia and Ukraine be at peace. That area of our world is rich with such things as yourself and many great products that we would like to receive with clear conscience. At least my conscience can be easy with you and your beautiful teachings and sharing. I watch your channel to learn as you are a student off the higher order. Quick and intelligent. May God go with you, and your people. Thank you.
I am a grand pa and will be over the moon happy if one of my G-kids will let me share some welding skills with them. Back in 1999-2000, I headed a project to build new livestock pens for the 4-H at our county fair. I had a lot of help from the 4-H families and it made me proud that a lot of our youth got their first hands on welding experience building these pens. My proudest moments was when my daughter who needed to complete an educational requirement to be able to show her animals at the fair that year, contacted me and asked if she could come down and work on the pens. I had allready a plan in mind as to what I was going to do that day so I was a little perturbed as stopped what I was doing and moved things around so she could do some painting. When she arrived,I started to explain what to do, she looked at me and stated "I really wanted to do some welding" She has made me proud many times, but I don't think I have ever been prouder of her as I was that day.If your grandfather is even half the man I think he is He is just as proud of you. the best thing you can do to pay him back is to pay it forward (and you already are by sharing on Utube) and to keep using his machines. LL&P
This is a worthwhile channel for my sub box, and what you say about the hand is true. The damage to my hands speaks more about momentary carelessness and lack of respect, than about experienced competent craftsmanship. A recent nick to a fingertip and a burn from touching metal I mistakenly assumed had stood around long enough to be touchable, neither or these were necessary. A cook does not have to have lost fingers just because he works with knives.
Great to hear a bit more about you. Your work thus far on this channel has been amazing, and I can't wait to see the continued progress on the skid-steer. I'm sure Grandpa is over the moon with happiness at your abilities and successes thus far. You're surely an inspiration to a lot of people. Keep up the great work, Lucia 🙂👍

Bravo, young lady! Please keep up the good work. As a retired engineer I am very impressed.
Greetings from the old welder Andi. That was so nice to hear your Story. 🤗
Thank you😊
Need a Keystone Girl & Lucia colab lol!
@@sonarsup1934 hah! Ya thats a great idea. The Keystone girl wouldn’t be much help though. Unless she needs a beer of course.
You are so very inspirational Lucia, I’ve been fabricating and welding for 40 years and am very impressed with your work. Can’t wait to see the completion of the skid steer
Thanx Lucia for the precise intro.will share it with my ugandan community, happy to follow yo footsteps of self learning
Lucia, as a grandfather I love that you’re being successful in YOUR grandpa’s space while he’s still around to enjoy and appreciate it!
As a man, I love seeing such a charming and creative woman showing us part of her world…
And as a fellow craftsperson I cannot thank you enough for your contributions to the craft world at large!
THANK YOU!!!
Oh, I'm so pleased to read this😊 Thank you!
Lovely story! Thanks for sharing and all the best on your future projects!!!
Great Woman. Great story 👍 I hope to see many more (especialy welding) works. Until next time 👋
Grand parents are the best. They have time and so much knowledge that your willing to listen to as they are not your parents. My grandfather was a fitter turner and could make anything probably like your grandfather. Enjoy as much time with him as you can I wish I'd spend more with mine. Thanks for sharing your story. 👍
thanks for the great videos, the workshop is awesome too.
Hi Lucia !...Just a big BRAVO for what you are and what are doing ! Greetings from Greece !
What a marvelous story, best wishes to you and your family.🤠🤠
As a dad of 3 daughters I love this channel. My middle daughter has taken up welding and some machining and plans to do it for a living. I have shared it with her for inspiration. Keep up the good work.
Lucia! You area absolute breath of fresh air! Keep up the Wonderful videos. Your husband is a very lucky man. Thank you for your projects and the sharing of them. 😊
What an awesome story. I too was inspired by my Grandad. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to work at his side. I take any opportunity I can to work with family. Congratulations Lucia!!!!
the best Russian accent I've ever heard, congratulations!
Thanks for sharing your story.... Keep up the good work.
That is a great story! Your grandpa must be very proud of you. I'm glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for being how you are, don't ever change,
Leonard
You are an inspiration that is sorely needed in this day and age, keep up the wonderful work Lucia. God bless you.
You're the BEST!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to watch the video!!!!
You are a very impressive young lady, and your husband is a very lucky man indeed. Very much enjoy your projects. Thank you!
Also thanks to your husband for supporting you and doing camera work. Keep up the good work you two 👍
You’re a beautiful lady in just about every way possible and I bet your grandpa is thrilled beyond measure that you are using his shop and excelling like you are! I’m blown away by the things you build and the quality of your work especially considering how little time and experience you have as a fabricator, there are people who will work for a lifetime and not be able to turn out the work that you do. Keep up the good work!!
Thank you very much😊
@@luciasworkshop thank you for sharing your story! I hope your grandpa is doing well 😊
I have always noticed and enjoyed how you do all this work and keep your nails manicured and often work in open toed shoes. It is usually Grundy looking men doing the work. You are a breath of fresh air. I was telling my wife about you the other day. Your husband is a very lucky man. We appreciate him also and the support he is to you. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
You are amazing. I am sending the link to this video to my grand daughters for inspiration. Please make more videos, I enjoy every one of them! Thumbs up!
You have come a long way in 3 years. Your grandfather must be so proud as you should be also. Thanks for sharing a bit of how you came to this point. 👍👍
You have a very well kept shop. There is nothing more rewarding than working with your hands and using your mind to do so.
Plenty of British people watch your channel as well. Love your work.
Hi Lucia. I'm Impressed by what Your doing. Alot of people would be afraid to do work in a Machine Shop. John Brzozowski, 01-19-2023
My grandfather had a weld shop, when he passed away my aunt padlocked it and no one has been inside for 15 years.
You are lucky to start with a shop that was already set up!
Looking forward to more videos and especially the skidsteer build!
What a fabulous, enchanting & epic uplifting story of finding your vocation in this world where so many never try to reach their potential. May you be blessed with success, happiness & a long life. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the EXCELLENT videos. You are an inspiration. Best to your grandfather, he must be very proud.
большое спасибо
I respect the fact you speak so lovingly of your grandfather. 👍🏻
Good for you. Keep it up. I always look forward to seeing one of your videos.
Thank you so much for this video, Lucia, and for sharing a little of you person. I love what you do and admire the courage it must have taken to change your career in such a dramatic fashion. Best wishes!
Love your projects, videos, and energy. Congrats to you and your husband for sticking out this journey!
Just amazing. You are beautiful, mechanically inclined, an engineer, very maticulas , and not only can you mig weld, but you can tig weld too. Very impressive.
Your grandfather must be very proud of your ability and understanding it's very impressive 👏
Thank you.
Thank you very much😊
I am a grand pa and will be over the moon happy if one of my G-kids will let me share some welding skills with them. LL&P
Thank you, you are very kind😊
This is a worthwhile channel for my sub box, and what you say about the hand is true. The damage to my hands speaks more about momentary carelessness and lack of respect, than about experienced competent craftsmanship. A recent nick to a fingertip and a burn from touching metal I mistakenly assumed had stood around long enough to be touchable, neither or these were necessary.
A cook does not have to have lost fingers just because he works with knives.
I appreciate your view of things and think this metaphor about cook is great ;0)
Thank you very much for the information, that answered all of my questions and a few more. The best of luck to both and I will stay subscribed 👍
Don't listen to the haters, as a guy who has worked in the trades and also takes excellent care of his hands, cleanliness is indeed a choice.
You are a very good speaker. I found your channel via your skid steer project, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you create.
I've been following you on LuciaReload since you first built the boat, and while subtitles helped, it was difficult to understand. I'm happy to see your new channel in English and I'm looking forward to watching your future projects.
I'm so glad to see someone follow dreams - your site is one of my favorite.
I'm a fabricator as well and have been for 35 years, but I think I'll probably be learning a few things from you. That boat is very impressive. Good job.
Oh, I'm very pleased with the fact that my videos are useful and contain things to learn even for experienced fabricators.
@@luciasworkshop My mentors told me you learn something new every day and it's so true. Again, for me, it's so uncommon to see woman doing what you're doing, so I hope you never tire of such an art. Have a great day
Such a great story! I'm so glad I found this channel.
Greetings from Puerto Rico, I recently found your channel and I love it. I also have a small workshop in my house and I am learning to weld in my spare time. Thank you for sharing your videos and the time you spend producing them. I wish you success and many blessings to you and your family. 😎✌️
I watched this video and after the end I am a subscriber because I respect the fact you are continuing your grandfathers dream and passion, im excited to join you on your UA-cam journey
Absolutely wonderful story. You have truly amazing skills, a lovely physical appearance, incredible demeanour and camera presence. You and your husband will achieve incredible UA-cam success before the end of 2023 if you stay on your present course. You have the right formula going and I absolutely love you channel and projects
Thank you very much!😊
Deep bow Lady. You’re doing a great job. And respect for your decision to take over the workshop and expand the work capabilities.
Thank you from 🇺🇸 for taking us on your journey of learning 🙏
It was my pleasure to see this video. I'm from Brazil and your's videos are awesome. Thank you for share your's skills with us!!!
Very impressive Lucia.
Great to see you back
Hope you had a GREAT Christmas and new year 👍👍
You have really inspired me to do Mechanical Engineering, because I'm always afraid of big and dangerous machines. But when I saw a woman like you can do that, I'm not afraid anymore. Thank you again Wonder Woman.
