None of us thought at the time that this would be a great movie, but now it is a classic.
None of us thought at the time that this would get a sequel - and espescially not a sequel as bad as Resurgence
+Mark I don't think we'll have a third one but i hope we don't
noel hernandez Lol, I agree - and looking at it's box office numbers, it looks like we won't get anymore of them anytime soon xD
well we made it through Resurgence without Russel Casse and Steven Hiller, but I wouldn't want anyone else killed off because Jasmine and President Whitmore died
tapu
I remembered seeing this film with some friends and liking it very much. The entire cast did an excellent job with the film, especially the three leads, Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, and Bill Pullman, respectively.
This has become one of the greatest classics in the summer blockbuster department.
A great movie.
no, this movie sucks more than my mother, m'kay
@@reek4062 that's your opinion
Yeaaa such a great movie wait until you found out it actually happened that where the idea even came from 👁
@@cosmicinsight3255 Where did the idea come from then?
@Recht_voor_zijn_raap this actually happened, but so many things you would have to innerstand to know what I’m saying there was battle that actually took place but everyone memories were wiped of it and lots of other things to make people forget
I remember going to the cinema to watch this I was 17 with my brother 12. July 1996
Liam Blackman I was 6 years old, also went with my brother
i was born on 24 th july 1996 ... ya i don't watched this film at theator... ha who cares my birth 😂
Things were so better without smartphones back then. Good old America
@@mrjohnwickreal8065 You're breathtaking.
i wasn’t even born
“Just a little anxious to whoop E.T’s ass that’s all” favorite line right there😂
Nah. Best line of the entire film was “When the aliens abducted them, they abused him……….. sexually”
The effects and the space ships looked so much better in Independence day 1 than second movie.
The sequel is such an excuse that sometimes major studios messing up the original film like this.
I skipped the 4th of July barbeque for this, twice.
Totally worth it!
Man I remembered seeing this in the big screen when I was 12 years. Remembered big tension when that spaceship approached and the big explosion like I was OMG!!
It's a classic now and still one of the best movies in my books. For me it just brings back better times and brkngs everyone together.
I remember seeing the UFO footage leaked from the Pentagon on CNN 10 months ago.
Get ready to see real aliens in 2020👹
I was 2 months old my dad took me to this movie in India. He is a Hollywood movie lover.
Epic
I watch this movie every couple months, I don't care, this classic just hits me on so many levels. I'm always entertained while transported back to my childhood.
I have to keep re-watching it to remind myself how good it was. Sometimes I'm like, "No way. It can't have been THAT good. I must be misremembering something". Then I watch it and I'm glad to take that back every time.
I'm gonna watch this today for the very first time.
Even in 2023 this movie is a masterpiece 💥💥💥💥💯
Agreed!!!
Went to see Independence Day opening night in Los Angeles on July 3rd, 1996...Every theater in the city showing this movie was sold out....Such a classic movie...We all cheered "ET getting his ass kicked"....
It was very popular in India too. Watched it twice in Mumbai theatres, those wonderful college days 😊
bang bang
u got
This is one the best sci fi movies ever created, seriously is 2021 and still looks awesome
25 years for this movie.
LOL! Yeah. Even after the sequel, this is still the best!
Yeah man its really slaps
Watching this film right now. I made my own tradition to always watch this on the 4th of July 🇺🇸. Update in 2023, watching right now.
they used to make really entertaining movies back in the 90s👌
omg I hope they bring back Elvis lol classic line
Not in that movie, honey but anyone will do that.
Thinkin 2020 might be the year we get a visit.
Yes...We will see aliens in 2020.....but not from space... from our southern border....lol
No we got much worse
Well ,it's not
They keep dropping the intel about the UFO’s. Beware of incoming false flags and psyops
2021
"Welcome to Earth!"
"Now that's what I call a close encounter"
My condolence for persons who wasn't born in the 90s😔
You lost a great time.
Happy 25th anniversary! A now classic sci-fi epic.
'We've always believed we weren't alone. On July 4th, we wish we were."
What a tagline!
What a trailer!
What a rush!
rush 🤭
:s
im gona go
thanks for the 20 yrs of memories. Our kids get the learn some box office history 2 generations perhaps 3 get to enjoy these 2 blockbusters as a family
This is still on the top of my list of favorite movies
25 years now. An American classic. When I think of Area 51 I still think of this movie.
Thanks👍
Love Is Noise
Love is noise! :>
Love the cinematography and special effects in this movie. Best alien invasion movie ever.
Lightning in a bottle. Easily my favorite summer blockbuster of all time.
your movie taste is wrong
I watched this film the other day and loved it. Its interesting how upbeat and triumphant the film is (at the end at least) contrasts a lot to modern films that I sometimes think are made to demoralise people.
Excellent point, George.
You're right about modern films being designed to demoralize and destroy us slowly.
"KEEP MY PLANET'S NAME...OUT OF YOUR f0CK1N MOUTH!!!"....LOL.
Such a great trailer. This was the one I saw 6 months before the films release and it really built the hype for it. Showed just enough of the movie to make you want more.
This is the coolest movie I've seen
A good movie to watch these days...
Best invasion movie EVER.
1:48 "Mr. President, allow me to demonstrate the awesome lethality of the Alan Parsons Project. FIRE THE LASER!"
When i seen this commercial in the theaters with my kids mother I threw my wallet right at the screen
Huh
"God, I hope they bring back Elvis." 😂😂😂
...They better not 🥴🙄
😂💀
A white man with a black voice. Nothing against him. He is also a good singer.
@@sabrinatackmann2010 Sam Cooke was better, a black man with a white man’s voice... what’s funny is sound has nothing to do with color lol what a foolish statement
@@cotaryan3740 ??? In my opinion Elvis had a black voice. But this is nothing, we should discuss in such a mad, bad way. There is always good music. Everybody can choose a type of music he or she likes.
@@sabrinatackmann2010 what's wrong with american, why everything always related to white or black skin? Smh
And yes the whole world is the stage!
I always find it funny that aliens only invade America
Because America is a weak ass continent
@@ibodana because the movie is made by hollywood and hollywood is in america it make no sence to make a movie in america about america by bollywood which is india just simple logic no patriotism , nationalism etc etc
@@azmicaseer8584 bruh
We’re worth more than what you think blacks in America is The Golden Race
@@hyperwar2304 The movie ins not only in america the ufos are all over the world. How about you guys inform yourself and actually watch a movie.
I wonder if aliens have actually seen this movie, and what they think of it.
We have. We've upgraded our anti-virus software. See you soon....
Aliens are demons.
Blown away as a kid. Just rewatched it with the typical disappointed, when you have become older than the heros.
Not as blown away as the kids in the movie.
Saw this in the theater back then. Can't believe it's 27 years ago. Then you had Twister the same year and Titanic in 97. Twister was awesome!
GREAT movie that is well written with superb actors and now a beloved Classic. Best Line: "Oops" by Will Smith lmao when he tried to drive the spaceship
Seen it in theaters on July 4th, 1996, opening day. I was 11. Remember it well.
Yeah, alot of people went to see this with their mom or dad. Back then movies were for everyone and there was always atleast one character you could identify with no matter what type of person you were.
Had this on VHS! Great memories
Still have it!
I come from the year 2096, the 100th year anniversary of this movie. My great grandfather was one of the aliens played in this movie. He tells everyone hi!
😆
A bit dated now but it's up there for one of the greatest summer blockbusters for sure.
Am I the only one who watches this movie every year on Independence Day?
Nope...me too, it's a must! xD
"Let's kick the tires and light the fires, Big Daddy!" Harry Connick Jr back when he was still kinda underground hip. haha
What a cast! Fantastic!!!
Happy "Independence Day" 2018,from your friends from a different galaxy 👽
Non american here, I remember watching this film back when I was a kid and it became a favorite one for me, I didn't know why, only later when I became older I started to see why, back then there was this whole sense of impending doom from the coming new millennium and coming from a very religious background this made it exacerbating, what they told you was you had to kneel and beg for salvation, yet, in this film, when confronted with an almost supernatural threat, you see the protagonists, however terribly flawed, fighting back, they won't give up, they made mistakes, they sometimes got cornered, yet they kept trying, there weren't miracles here, only the will of mankind always trying.
They weren't saints yet they willingly put their lives in the line, I didn't know back them the terms "humanism" or "western values" or "the idea of progress" but it was there, the sense you could change things for the better.
0:54 Now thats what we call entry!!!
And I'll be watching along with my wife Independence Day on the 4th of July & also we'll be watching Jaws as we do some grilling while celebrating the 4th of July. It's become kind of a tradition at our place. Two great movies & plenty of grilling & plenty of great food. Who could ask for more!!!
The people on the earth would not have had a chance in such a war.
The hype for this movie was next level at the time - must've watched the Quicktime trailers a thousand times.
One day, this movie will become a documentary!
I just want to say rest in peace 20 Century Fox you was a great movie company😔
Imagine watching this movie in the theatres. Epic movie
Bruh…. It feels like it came out yesterday.. when the heck did this much time just vanish?! Take me back 2 the 90’s
Oh come on, where's the signature;
"Hello Boys! I'm BAAAAAAACK!"
Today we celebrate our INDEPENDENCE DAY! 🌎
2021... we still here! 🙏
That was such a good movie. Went to see it on opening night, July 3, 1996.
Apart from the entire movie, only the US Presidents highly motivational speech was mind blowing
"I have loved you with an everlasting love - Jer 31:3" ❤
In a time when trailers showed basically the whole movie, it's interesting to see here that all the Area 51 and space parts were omitted. Good job.
Lol at the Predator music in the trailer. I saw the original movie opening day, theater was packed!
I was actually born in 1996, five months after this movie came out.
are u an allien??
@@lazn9863 no. I am not an alien.
Happy 25th Anniversary Independence Day!!!!! 🛸🌎🌍🌏
Nice
Happy 25th anniversary to Independence Day!
Released 06/25/1996
Happy 25th!!! Wish this was in cinemas
🇺🇲🇺🇲
I recommend the original "Independence Day" because it's a sci-fi classic. However, I don't recommend its 2016 sequel "Resurgence", which I hate with all my heart. 20 years was too late for a wait and Fox better cancel "Independence Day 3" before it's too late!
I recommend the UFO footage released by the Pentagon
apparently this was on tv today what a beauty of a film
1:48 We need to build a wall around Wal-Mart.
The 90s where awesome

Que gran película una de las mejores sin duda alguna
I love this movie is so action and epic
Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum are a work of art and you can't tell me otherwise.
Don't forget about Randy Quaid he was excellent.
Magnífica película de ciencia ficción y acción
