Please make an updated version of this. This is by far the best (and funniest) explainer I have seen on this topic. I use it in many presentations but I now have to add 6 years of 'what happened next'...
16 year dark age under the corporatocracy, no kind of rennaissance in sight. Many religious people are not climate deniers. It's not in the culture of many faith communities to unite as one caring voice for Creation Stewardship and mercy for future generations. With a little leadership most people of faith are ready and able to take a stand.
The US signed (then Vice President Al Gore did on US citizen's behalf) but Republican Congress refused to ratify it. The good news was: The US actually ended up cutting a lot more emissions than many nations that signed and ratified, and subsequently failed to deliver (there were no consequences for countries like Canada, Russia, Austria and several others ). Not saying the protocol was unneeded, just that other factors (such as the fact that coal makes no economic sense) can help. Obviously it is better if international treaties actually work and everyone pulls in the same direction. But even if the US leaves Paris that does not automatically mean we are all fried (though it does raise the odds, let us be clear about that).
The difference between then (when the Kyoto Protocol was drafted and this video was made) and now (during the Trump presidency in the US) is that then there was no denying that global warming was occurring. The question was who was going to have to paid to reduce global warming.
Awesome as always. Makes u laugh and think. So, as long as we mess with the planet less than the planet messes with itself, it's cool? So, go ahead, create a floating island of plastic in the ocean the size of Connecticut, it's not as bad as a massive volcanic eruption! Is that the logic George?
If in doubt of science: James Lawrence Powell has done a meta-study of 13950 peer reviewed scientific articles (1991-2012) on earths climate: only 24 deny global warming or point to a cause other than CO2.
Richard Muller: "Call me a converted skeptic." (NY Times article, July 28, 2012, "The Conversion of a Climate Change Skeptic) Sadly it was his own propensity to announce his findings before publication that hampered the review process, which is still ongoing. Science and journalism come to odds at the junction of accuracy and publicity.
Keep in mind that there are lobbies for "clean" energy as well. It isn't just oil companies. Also, because governments issue about 20 billion in grants for global warming research every year, there is also a funding bias on top of the lobbies. So, if you say money is an issue, you can't just stop the taxicab at oil companies and be happy. You have to investigate all sides to formulate your conclusion.
Lovely ad but still hard for anyone to accept it. We are a truly despicable to contemplate. I do hope that the patriarchal society which we inhabit will make haste before it is too late. Solutions are available but the money man rather keep his money in a safe haven...
but who says the CO2 that is more produced has an effect to the climate change? its also possible that the plants just grow more due to the increased ammount of the gas. photosynthesis needs CO2 and so it would be quiet logic that the reaction can be done better and more. and to the methane.. ok but where does it go or to which product is it degraded? thx
Basically they're saying stop using coal and stop progressing to developing countries while they already throw tons of emissions in totality out there.. Good for you rich countries.. Poor countries need to sacrifice progress to save the earth that been destroyed by rich countries... What a fair idea
Because we are wealthy. Our wealth comes from oil. We are also loudmouths when it comes to climate change. There is room for two, as we are rich enough from producing oil, so that we can buy our way out of the agreement we claim to promote. The flick is produced in Norway, so it is a kind of ironic portrayal of ourselves. Our culture used to focus on our effort, or lack thereof. Globalists brought the blame culture, and it turned of the lights. Stupidville next for Norway.
It doesn't matter if I am a 'warmist' or 'denier' - what matters is the fact. The facts are that Sandy is a natural but extremely rare event - weather is complicated and that a storm is caused by the interaction of lots of different factors. Note, climate =/= weather. And, in our limited history in measuring weather and the triggers and causes for weather - there is no surprise people blame this on human induced 'climate change'.

Lobbies are the biggest obstacles to evolution. Lobbies are the tool of the status quo that all generations to come will have to pay, for a couple multinationals to make huge profits now. I hope the billions added to the billions they had are worth it. I hope at least, they're enjoying all the cash. Everyone else but them will have to pay the price for it.
I'm writing a research paper right now, and this video is a thousand times more helpful than any of the other sources I've found.

your wish has been granted
Even though the actual situation is terrible, this was so cute!
I am working about Kyoto protocol for my school project and this video helped me more than Wikipedia!! XD
Same here
We watched this today in our English lesson. We really love your choice for the background music. Nice animation by the way :)
Thank you! 😃 And here's the "sequel" ua-cam.com/video/qfAeoBGS3Ek/v-deo.html :) about the Paris agreement!
Hell, I will never ever get this melody out of my head again!!!
Amazing videos for my green bonds webinar! Thanks CICERO!

I don't know why, but I find the melody amazingly humorous.

US did not sign Kyoto Protocol. They did not cut anything. They are still going full speed.
Nor did Australia. Now we are dredging a channel through the Great Barrier Reef to coal port. *sigh*
The US signed (then Vice President Al Gore did on US citizen's behalf) but Republican Congress refused to ratify it.

The executive signed it. Congress refused to implement it.
This is terrific!
6 years later, still catchy AF
This was sooooooooooooo cute!!! And it's true, we're damaging our only home, we have to fix what we've done.
Now I understand. Thank you for this.
Australia should clip its self ever so slightly then scream in the background for the rest of the video and demand everyone else cut instead.
This needs an updated version, please!!!

Yes, this is actually what is happening. Nobody is bothered about the actual issue.
What is the main message ?
Maybe someone can help Veronika out?
Main message: no one wants to take responsibility regarding climate change
uhm except for the US refused to sign kyoto, or at least the US administration did not consider it binding.
