- Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has called the lawmakers into a special session to pass legislation to ensure President Joe Biden will be on the November ballot.
Yeah, Gov Mike DeWine one Republican with integrity and common sense.
They are just scared it's going to ignite Biden's base.
As a democrat I am heartened that so many Republicans are not maga partisans. I miss the days when we had the likes of Boehner and McCain to offer a balance to the democrat party. May the best ideas win for the good of all Americans.

He can start by stepping down as governor. A total failure with the East Palestine Derailment mess. And as far as the Democratic National Convention this year it's scheduled August 19-22. The last one in 2020 was August 17-20. No problem there. In 2012 it was September 4-6. No problem there. Seems to be a political issue from a Republican governor. Maybe check to see when the conventions are scheduled before you print the ballots.
The Republican party isn't responsible for this. The Democrat party is responsible for this and ironically of course after they tried to illegally and in a totalitarian fashion try to remove their political opposition from the ballot. The laws in the state of Ohio have not changed. The Democrat party knowingly changed their primary system and pushed back to date of their convention which does not meet the laws and standards of the state of Ohio and a few other states for that matter. They could very easily move up there convention date 2.5 weeks earlier and this would be fixed but of course they won't do that and they want preferential treatment to fix the mistakes and law violations that they made and are making now.

However, you do realize that the democrat party actually changed the election law/rules…..why do they not comply with their own changes. Seems like a simple fix. Accept Biden as the candidate and submit. It’s rather difficult to understand why it’s a shock for the party that implemented the rules.

If they meet the deadline according to the RNC and DNC deadlines and Ohio law. If Biden doesn't register in time and then they make an exception for Biden or slot someone else into his spot (say Gavin Newsome for instance...) that is PRE-MEDITATED FRAUD. Well republicans had legislature to permit Biden on the ballot. Democrats voted it down because it also had legislation to forbid foreign money from being contributed to Ohio elections and democrats didn't like that. The Republican National Convention was held from 8/24 - 8/27 in 2020. That was after the Ohio deadline for getting a candidate on the ballot for the president of the United States. Please state it that way Governor DeWine so your audience realizes they made an exception for their party last time. Don't be vague about it.
The RNC and the DNC should respect the laws of every state and plan accordingly. It’s ridiculous to temporarily change a law because they can’t, or win’t, respect the law. This year and every year
@christinemahboob5622 It seems to only be a problem in Ohio. No other state has this issue. Since the law was passed in 2010, it has affected both parties twice and was quickly fixed. The permanent solution would be to fix the Ohio law that causes the problem--3 times now in just 14 years. How silly to declare that the Democrats rearrange their national convention to suit Ohio especially when they've so easily done it before with no demands for Republicans to change their national convention dates.

I wonder why OH would pass a law that conflicts with that established tradition? I don't think this is a case of OH law being disrespected. I think this is a case of OH making a law incompatible with the election system.

It's very Honorable of the Governor to address the importance of qualified Presidential candidates be placed on the Ohio ballot. As a past Ohio resident I have experienced the friction in the State between the two parties. State legislation just moving back the Presidential registration date to coinside with the party's conventions should be a No Brainer.
" Qualified Presidential candidate," should remain as a civil right for citizens of every State, however, our 14th amendment rights to be protected from office holders who violate their oath of office, and participate in insurrection should be exercised by free States.
I feel the Supreme Court ruling on States Rights, and the application of the 14th amendment protections is deeply flawed, placing hypothetical situations ahead of real criminal, and treasonous conduct.
All the fake electors, all the MAGA cult State and Federal elected representatives who are found to have in anyway helped in planning, aided, or participated in the January 6th attack on our nation's capital, insurrection, and attended hult of the counting of electoral votes, should be band from reelection. This is not a hypothetical action, but rather a constitutional guarantee.
The nation can continue to suffer legislative malfeasance dew in part to cover for violations of their otaths of office, and insurrection, or Secretaries of State, of the manny State should choose to uphold our constitutional rights.

I appreciate him for doing this. Please, let's do two things- 1) change the requirement for a 90 day window, and 2) both parties, please follow the rules and don't expect them to be changed for you, even if they always have been in the past.

The parties must choose their nominees before the DEADLINE, which the democrats CHOSE TO IGNORE. So now they want to CHANGE THE RULES to benefit the DEMOCRATS... JUST LIKE THEY DID IN 2020.
1). Democrats could have met Ohio’s election rules by moving their Convention to an earlier date, instead they insisted that Republicans give them an exception. 2). Ohio’s Republican controlled Congress offered to make an exception to their state election laws IF Democrats would sign on to a bill that would remove all foreign money from both parties campaign coffers. Democrats refused and have accepted tens of millions of dollars from foreign countries for Biden’s campaign. Democrats had two opportunities to put Biden on the Ohio ballot and refused both, insisting that Ohio Republicans make an exception to the election law and put Biden on the ballot without Democrats making a single concession. And now Democrats have run out of time to get Biden on the ballot by filing a lawsuit in hopes of getting the 2010 election law, which requires a candidate be certified by their party 90 days before the general election, declared unconstitutional.

Both parties have had nominations past the Ohio deadline in prior years. They have extended the deadline for both parties when that happens. This year is an exception that they won't extend it for the Democratic party.

You have a right to your opinion but no one has the right to change laws, regulations or rules willy-nilly for no reason but to suit their own personal partisan agenda.
We saw this with Mitch McConnell in 2016 when he denied then sitting President Obama his presidential prerogative to appoint a US Supreme Court Justice when a vacancy became open. This made up rule stated...from now on NO president can appoint a US Supreme Court Justice during an election year.
As we all know Mitch McConnell changed the Senate rules again in 2020 to allow then President Trump to choose a SCOTUS jurist weeks before an election and long after early voting had started.
We need to get past this ridiculous extreme partisan that's tearing our country apart. It may be fun for some but we're the ones who will pay the price not the ones at the tippy top making this stuff up as they go along.

C-SPAN’s survey, first conducted in 2000, includes 142 historians, professors and other professional observers of the presidency who gave all former presidents a score from one to 10 in multiple leadership characteristics. The results are then averaged to tabulate a score.
Trump received a score of 312, giving him a ranking of 41 and placing him above former Presidents Pierce, Andrew Johnson and Buchanan. This is Trump’s first time appearing on the list, with the last survey having been released in 2017, when his term had just begun.
