Hey George, thanks for making this video of my garden. It's interesting to see it through someone else's eyes. Your photography skills are next level and make everything look lush. I don't think to 3m tall gardeners have ever been caught on film together so it's a UA-cam first! 🤣😂 I'll have to return the favour sometime and visit your garden....
Thanks Kris, I enjoyed it and you’re more than welcome to come over here, whether it’s when the garden is more complete or to document part of the journey! The little photography type clips definitely help to make it flow, thank you. Yes, we made the Miscanthus look like regular grass 😂
Great new video from you both, Chris you have such a great jungle style garden, I love both your channels and can't wait for more collaborations in the future, fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞❤️
Thanks Richard! Kris has definitely got an amazing garden full of exotics and it’s great to see in person. We appreciate the support and will see what we can sort in the future 😃
I can't believe how much everything has grown in the month since I was there ,I found his scheffleras and that huge jubaea chiliensis incredible . So much bigger in the flesh than you imagine from viewing on a laptop screen . Another great video guys .
@@YorkshireKRIS I'm the guy who was visiting Simons garden after visiting your garden .His bamboos were exactly as you described and those 30 year old scheffleras just wow a true jungle. I cant see my wife letting me ever go that extreme with our garden 🤣but it was really impressive to see ,its on another level 👌 I got to see 2 of my favourite UA-cam gardens that day you've got a cracking garden kris I was impressed you have some beautiful palms and plants on show .
@@staffordshireShane Thanks Shane and the growth that happens at the back end of the summer, particularly after a good bit of rain is something else! I've not seen Simon's garden myself but remember seeing it on Gardeners World some years back and being really impressed, it's fascinating to see what a lot of these exotics look like after some years in the ground.
Thank you very much, I'm pleased you enjoyed this one! Mark's done a lovely job of it for sure, the way it all works together is impressive too. I can't wait until I can get to the finishing touches and decorative hard landscaping stages of mine but no rush!
Omg! The Borinda papyrifera, that blue colour is mindblowing. Great footage of the gorgeous Dahlias! That Jubaea is gigantic, be patient George, time will come for yours... The Yucca linearis is a real beauty and the Agavesas well. The Brahea armata, omg again, so beautiful, and the T. princeps as well. Hi Kris, thank you for the tour, you're doing an amazing job, just as your friend George does! RIP Elisabeth, big respect, you will be missed a lot.❤
Thank you very much as always Bernard for a kind and considered comment! Once again you’ve chosen some of my highlights too. The Jubaea is definitely something I’m looking forward to but like a lot of things, the joy is in the journey and seeing it grow. The Borinda papyrifera are a real showstopper, it’s a shame they’re not more widely available here. I appreciate you watching and hope you have a great week!
Hi George and Chris, Great tropical style gardens. I fallow both of you on UA-cam, good to see both of you together. Please keep inspiring us. Best Wishes.
Great video. Superb plants and the water feature looks so natural, beautiful 😍 Your gardens are an inspiration to me and my garden in West Yorkshire. My plant wish list just got longer, again.
Thank you very much! Kris has an amazing garden and a wealth of knowledge and experience in growing these exotic plants in a colder climate. I know how you feel about the wish list, I'm the same every time I visit another tropical style garden haha!
Loved this, two legends together and a great dynamic, you really brought out the best in each other. Will watch this again whenever I need inspo and encouragement, not to mention more for my exotic shopping list for next year! Thanks guys 🌴
It is indeed! I know I focused mainly on the plants in this video but the garden is definitely more than the sum of it’s parts, Kris has done a fantastic job with it 😃
Great video George! Love watching both of your channels, so was fantastic to see you both collaborate together! I still can't get over the size of Kris's Jubaea, an absolutely beautiful specimen!
Thanks Peter, I appreciate it! Kris is only just over an hour away so we’ll make it happen again I’m sure. The Jub is a real beauty and it’s right at the stage now where it’ll hopefully really get going 😃
Great video guys. Good one to start of my day I'll catch the q&a later. Always nice to see someone else's take on your style and decisions you've made in your own. Hopefully constructive for both of you. Catch you later.
Thanks Hugh, I'm pleased you enjoyed the vid! Kris has got an amazing garden and it was great to experience it in person with everything growing so well.
This is a great video, and Kris' garden is amazing as expected. However it is really good to hear Kris talking about how this had developed over the years, and you made some great points about planning. I was wondering if you have thought about doing a video on planning a tropical garden for the long term?
Thank you very much Nick and it’s interesting to hear what really stood out to you. When you say long term are you meaning planting ‘permanent’ plants into a design rather than just creating a display as such?
@@GeorgesJungleGarden that's right. I like you had in your first garden, have a lot of plants in pots that I want to put in the ground. And I was wondering what are the things you need to consider for their permanent home.
Thank you very much Bernard, in all honesty it was a way of using some footage that I got earlier in the week before the rain delayed my video plans but it came together nicely as an intro 😃
Loved this video....just superb. Great to see and hear the tour with the cool commentary. Brilliant 👏. My three favourite plants when I went round this summer were the jubaea, brahea armata and the yucca linearis. 👍
Thank you very much my and I probably could have selected your top 3 from my visit! The Jubaea is a stunner isn’t it, just at that tipping point where things get really exciting. The gingers, Schefflera macrophylla and Pink China Colocasia were all really impressive too but I can’t fault you on your choices!
Thanks Heather, Kris certainly has some incredible plants and planting! I think we both try to get away with leaving a lot in the ground, when you have a winter and spring like this past year it definitely saves a lot of time!
Really enjoyed this! One suggestion for the benefit of us non-native English speakers: identify the plants in writing as you present them! Beautiful garden, impossible to replicate in my corner of Canada ... I'm jealous .
Hi and thank you very much, pleased you enjoyed it and I’m sure you could create a similar vibe, even if not with exactly the same plants. Don’t worry, I do usually try to feature more plant names but it was a bit of a rush to get this video out, hopefully you find other plant ideas and inspiration from my vids at Mark’s Crazy Tiki Garden etc. Kris had created a lovely paradise, I agree it’s an amazing garden!
Loved the tour. You guys make a great team. Early in video you featured some awesome cannas at entrance to garden. Do you know specifics on the actual scientific or common name of them would love to find some
Hi and thank you very much! Personally I use Premier Pro currently but it is on a subscription plan and needlessly complicated for simple chopping and editing vids, from what I hear Final Cut Pro is supposed to be simpler if you're on Apple but even I Movie will do a good job. Davinci Resolve have a free version that's well worth checking out too.
Hi Robert, pleased you enjoyed the vid! It completely depends on the plant but generally I’m a fan of larger scale soil improvement then giving plants a little boost of the right kind of fertiliser mix in late spring - which plants is it you’re wondering about?
My colocasia died this winter. Had them in pots and were fine the year earlier left out and came back. Didn't this year. Maybe they weren't really Pink China.
Hi, a lot of palms don’t mind getting their roots down into clay, they definitely generally prefer the richer soil and source of moisture to a an incredibly dry or sandy spot. The only thing I would say is that the spot doesn’t want to be waterlogged in winter here in the U.K. so I try to plant mine in banks or mounds to get the best of both worlds.
Hi, to be honest, I've never grown any from seed but looking at the amount of Chusquea seedlings in the ground around Kris' bamboo, then most of the hardier varieties aren't tricky to grow. Sorry I can't help specifically but if I find a good guide then I'll return to this comment and link to it.
Hi Phyllis, I do try to when I do my own garden tours but unfortunately didn't have chance for this one. Happy to help with any IDs you need though, I'll try my best!
Hi John, I appreciate the feedback and this is something I also realised myself. I’ve invested in new kit this year that’ll show gardens in a wider context going forwards so hopefully you’ll notice improvements 👍
It's definitely a strong grower! A lot of the tropical style gardening involves managing thugs and strong growers, the effect of the packed border at the end of the season is definitely worth it though!
