Nice splitting 👍 I grew up around elevators like that, maintenance was always important, repairs were always a pain in the ass. The longer you used them the chain would stretch and you would have to tighten the chain. But at the end of the day you would have to remember to loosen up the tension or it would be too tight the next time you used it. Short couple hour runs you wouldn't have a problem, but we would run them for 10-12 hours straight.

Perfect day for this video drop. This week is going to be mess and the yard is already flooded from the overnight storms hitting Md. The more it rains the more I wish I had your splitter for a Day - lol. I have about 7-8x the pile you split, all Black Walnut, just waiting to be split.
Unfortunately I don't sell firewood so the cost of any processor is out of my budget.
Glad you were able to solve the Conveyor issue in short order. There is no getting around maintaining good working equipment.
Give us a glimpse into the Stack side of the operation.

Hey Scheib, you can reduce your splitter trash by trying to always have the butt to the wedge. This way the split is going from big to small so it doesn't shear the wood as much. You can really notice the difference on a round that has a lot of taper. If you put the small end to the wedge it will slice strings off. With the butt to the wedge the split gets smaller so no sheared strings. I have over a dozen conveyors. The secret to long life is to slow them down. I install jack shafts on mine and use pulley sizes to reduce the speed by around 75%. Another thing you can do to oil it is instead of dino oil you get used cooking oil from a restaurant. This will be veggie or canola oil so you get the needed lubrication and the splits smell nice and you get a couple extra BTU's also. I've attached a short of one of my converted conveyors. It is a grain elevator same idea as yours. I moved the engine mount farther ahead, added a jack shaft and changed pulley sizes. It is a direct drive ( no clutch on engine) motor so I keep the belt a little slack so if it does jam it will just slip the belt. The engine runs just above an idle so hardly uses any fuel and is nice and quiet. ua-cam.com/users/shortsuKcqFhFU4Es

I definitely touch my wood too much. The box wedges make it so easy, but I'm leaning towards ordering an axis over another horizontal splitter, my 9-16 pumps out more than i can handle anyways, but you know we always want bigger and better

That’s a pretty good run for the first chain break. We got cut short by the rain today out splitting and filming.

When i broke my chain it took me a minute to figure it out, the tensioners on mine are completely rusted shut and some of the locking nuts are broken off. So a welding project may be in order soon for me, cause it would have been a lot easier fixing the chain if i had some slack to play with for sure. Looked like a great splitting session brother🍻

Only having one chain makes it harder cuz you don't have the other side helping hold it together.

Designed for picked corn (not shelled). That's what the slots are for... loose grain would fall through and not end up in the corn crib. Also, used for hay.

I’m kinda wondering, I mean, I love an good eastonmade splitter, but every box wedge machine I’ve seen on UA-cam, they always seem to struggle, and slice rather than split.
Difference being when I watch other box wedge splitters or processors (Japa perfect split) they power through and don’t seem to struggle. I’m not bashing this product, it’s just an observation 😎😎
Another observation Mr Scheib, at that height, your grizzly bar angle needs to be less steep, it can’t do its job properly at such a steep angle.
    Thanks as always 👍🏼👍🏼

Don how many pullys and what sizes do you have on the conveyor? for the speed that it travels at.
