I wish the people interviewing them didn't interrupt so much. Freakin Angie Martinez was doing it to Jay-Z when Jay made the $5,000,000 (Five Million Dollars) Only deal.
Let the people express themselves or don't interview them. I'm trying to learn something here. Interruption is a great disturbance to the lesson. You guys can't be that bad... you were over excited to be interviewing guys of this stature.

Lovine has some great comments about the content industry... Sadly the interview dragged on as "gotcha" journalism...

It's actually 'Iovine' with an 'I'. Properly pronounced in Italian as 'Yovineh'.

My guess is they want to have live TV eventually on their Apple TV box and have it so you can record your live shows onto the cloud flip through live tv though a overflow interface, and have a new audio system that works with a new sound file they will create that is better than current. So better sound, better organization of content, better storage than what is available today.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Lovine keeps saying "what?" despite him meant to have, I dunno, good ears working in the music industry?

Us engineers have trouble hearing speech in loud or noisy environments. It’s a product of long term exposure to loud or high sound pressure levels. In the correct setting though we can hear minute details that others can’t perceive. In general, hearing loss and hearing quality aren’t directly 1:1

I completely agree with Jimmy about the importance of curation in music. It really is an art and truly has the potential to enhance your listening experience. But the fact that he thinks Beats (both the headphones and the service) are the solution, I completely disagree. I'm not being an eccentric audiophile here, but the quality to price ratio of Beats headphones is absurd. They sound extremely poor for their asking price, a piano and a synthesiser are all the same through a beats, and it really grinds my gears to hear Jimmy say he introduced a better sonic experience to an entire generation through beats.
In regards to Apple Music, the business model that they think they have in place is questionable as it is, what is the incentive that Apple is giving people, to actually BUY a song? Apple Music doesn't pay artists nearly enough, how are they "Saving the music industry"? In fact, they're stabbing it while it's bleeding profusely.
The truth of the matter is that both Apple and Beats are technologically significantly behind in Music and audio devices. The songs that are on Apple Music are 256kbps while even a CD is 1611. There is actually reliable high end technology financially outside the reach for most people that reproduces music in astonishingly high quality. Apple with its billions of dollars should try to trickle those technologies down and make them more affordable while preserving the quality of the music file.
Long shot, but I really hope that Eddy and Jimmy see this one day and seriously consider it.

    • @PeteNicholsonAnimation

Hone Whetstone it's difficult to say if Apple Music is profitable, but the fact they have no free tier helps - everyone is paying for music. No one who uses Apple Music or iTunes is getting it free - you either pay to stream or pay for the song.
But given Apple's other products - iCloud prices, hardware profit margins etc I would be shocked if it wasn't at least on the road to being profitable, even if as they ramp up they're pushing more money into it than they get out of it.

Pete Nicholson Right. I see what you're saying and agree with some points you make. However me questioning the business model wasn't in the context of profit, but more in the context of saving the music industry as they claimed.

Hone Whetstone Ah, good point. The only facts I can offer you there is they give 70% of the revenue to the record labels. Whether that is enough, I don't know.

Eddie uses all the catch words like "great-sensational-amazing-incredible" I am literally typing those words while he said them. Crazy. I like beats personally. I have a pair of mixes for 4 years and they've stood the test of time. Overpriced. Good. Just marketing, I'll admit.

    Epic Fail
This will go into the record books as one of Apples top bad decisions.
Kudos to how a failing industry, over hyped, inflated priced product company can some how sway a company like Apple to buy in.
"Embarrassing to copy" Not only do they copy hardware but they are clearly aiming to try and make a profit from streaming since they see another company be successful at something they have failed at, so now they are going to "copy" the streaming idea.
I have been a musician almost my entire life. They act as though it takes incredible amounts of money, engineering and care to produce high quality sound. It simply doesn't. Any respectable recording studio "other than you know whos" would be using "Beats" equipment.
At the end of the day it makes me wonder how desperate Apple must be to have made this deal.
Sadly I see Now that Steve is gone, the ones left will slowly erode away Apple with poor ideas and riding the back of the Branding of the Apple name and what it USE to stand for to make a small fortune as the castle crumbles.

Apple was not a one man show. At first Steve was against the App Store on iPhone, and iTunes on Windows. He didn't invent the click wheel, conceive the idea of 'typing on a multitouch glass display', nor the 'Mac vs PC' ads. Since Tim Cook has taken over, iOS and OS X development has accelerated. This is particularly noticeable at WWDC 2014, when we had huge updates to both operating systems for the first time. Apple's stock price is twice what it was when Steve stepped down. Apple is not stuck in 2011: all its products have been updated regularly. It has unveiled a brand new product: Apple Watch. It has unveiled a brand new service: Apple Pay. I don't know what you're basing your perceptions of Apple on, but it doesn't seem to be reality.
