You got the swing comparison backwards. Even Tiger admits that there were only two individuals that truly owned their swings and he , Tiger wasn’t one of them. Ben Hogan and Moe Norman. So it’s Tiger compared to Hogan not Hogan compared to Tiger.
A good recommendation is to watch pros who have a similar body size and swing style. Different swings can all be good but we can improve within ourselves

Mickey Wright was a student of Alex Morrison. Henry Picard was also a Morrison student. Hogan dedicated his first book Power Golf to his friend Henry Picard. They played a ton of golf together and it was Picard that told Hogan he should weaken his left hand on the club. Picard was semi retired from the tour and Head Pro at Hershey country Club. Picard's Asst Pro at Hershey was Jack Grout....Jack Nicklaus' teacher. Ergo.... Grout learned from both Picard and Alex Morrison. The principles of Alex Morrison was then passed on to Jack Nicklaus. When Picard left Hershey Country Club He told the board that they needed to hire Ben Hogan as their head golf professional. They didn't want to do it because Hogan at the time wasn't a big enough name but ultimately he got the job. Finally..... Alex Morrison wrote a book in 1932 called A New Way to Better Golf. It was the best seller. The same principles in 1932 that helped Jack Nicklaus are still valid today.

Yes, indeed. When I was a kid, I read his book and I read Julius Boros’s book and I read Jack Nicholas‘s book on how to swing a golf club. Ben Hogan at the time was considered to have the most mechanically perfect golf swing of any golfer ever.
Depends who's teaching - teaching and swings seem to have come back to Hgans swing fundamental from the crap they (Leadbetter) used to teach in the 80's.

Serious question: If Hogan was playing today, would he be able to hit as far as the top players today? Is a guy like Rory have better mechanics than Hogan or is it all equipment. Take it easy on me, keyboard warriors. I'm genuinely interested. I play golf when i can, but i know nothing about swing dynamics.
@@demsareunamerican6800 Hogan was great but I'm sure he didn't face the same competition that today's golfers face so it's no guarantee that he would have the same number of wins. I'm sure many of the golfers he faced weren't career golfers and probably had side jobs to help maintain a living.

Show me any Golfer today that will win 31 tournaments in a 3 year span. Hogan did 1946-48. Then from 1950-53 in 9 total starts at the majors, he won 6X, after his near fatal car accident. Even Tiger won't do that after his car wreck. Hogan would only play 6 tournaments a year due to his car wreck, and still won.
I swear I have no idea why anyone in this day and age would go back to Hogan. First off he's all hands by necessity after the accident and no one teaches a hands move anymore, then there's all the crazy timing moves. There's about a hundred and they're all crazy idiosyncratic, because he's still got the buggy-whip hickory action in there and had to figure out how to do that with a lead pipe.
Is the hand move like a supination of the hand or the hinge? I used to swing plane, which force me to time the club head when dropping my hands. When I see hogan, I see a little over the top love, not excessive but a minor one. So I switched to an inside out swing and got consistent. What I said before was my experience. I assume people go back to hogan because he explains the basic fundamentals of golf in my opinion in an easy way to understand. Some coaches can have that teaching or they can provide many factors to the swing. As well as UA-cam golf is mostly confusing. With drills trying once and not working, Hogan explains the swing simply.

I get to make this decision because not only am I the one who got the D1 scholarship, I am also the one who won all those tournaments and whose name is on all the trophies. That means I know what I'm doing. And I'm telling you a few things here: 1. Nobody gets good from watching UA-cam videos 2. Hogan didn't write any of that, ghostwriters did 3. Hogan didn't have the slightest idea what supination or pronation was, he dropped out of the 12th grade in 1929 4. I don't guess about what some rando thinks he's doing and what he's really doing, couldn't give a shit 5. I'm a proponent that every golfer has an avatar of their swing and fitness level so their action posts with every comment

Hogan would destroy Rory with today's equipment. Rory won't reach 71 career wins, like Hogan.
The average driver distance for Hogan was 235 with the old equipment back then. Hogan had the heaviest driver swing so I assume he would beat Rory
