    That was fun. With absolutely no disrespect, it's how machines perform in dirt that's key. In the hands of a practiced, time-served operator, each has it's pros and cons fully exposed imho.

    those tesoro,s are great detectors ,
    tried a lot of machines and sold them all except my tesoro,s
    ,
    still have my silver u max and vaquero and those are my main score machines.
    they have less depth then some expensive machines but the accuracy , the fun and gaining is higher , period.
    i am not banging the other expensive ones , no one will deny that minelab s are great , and fishers too !
    just my two cents for having fun , accuracy and scores for a couple of hundred dollars .

    The Mojave will hold its own and for only $251.10 with a lifetime warranty, free shipping and great customer service, it's hard to beat. It will do things that other detectors can't do and other detectors can do things it can't do, so it makes a great companion detector. It's finding stuff that my more expensive detectors have missed. It has totally amazed me. Just keep in mind that in mild soil its depth is limited to about 7 inches, but that's in range of the majority of coin and ring size targets.

    Folks, all this shows is the difference between a concentric and dd coil design. ANY of these detectors, when fitted with a concentric coil, would have the same result as the Mojave, albeit they would have twice the depth as this particular Tesoro is not a deep detector. At a depth of say 4", the Mojave will only be covering ground about the size of a golf ball. The small dd search coils (shooter coils) are the perfect fit for this test. They will cover more ground, handle bad soil, and unmask better than the concentric. This is a biased test to the extreme. Don't get me wrong, I love Tesoro. I've owned a few Cibola's and Vaquero's, great detectors and deep, but this is not a proper test and it gives false info to uneducated newcomers to the hobby. All of these are great detectors in their own right, (I've owned all of them). For what it's worth, for a relic hunter and iron sifter (my genre). I would rate them Notka, Fisher, AT Pro, then Mojave. just my opinion.

    Did you keep the Mojave? Is it worth buying a used one or are you better off going with a new detector? Thanks for the video!

    The Mojave looks like a good detector for the price. I think it would be great if Tesoro would come out with a multi tone detector. I can understand not having number ID. One tone for every metal is not keeping up with the competition!!!!

    • @horseman528
      @horseman528 7 років тому +2

      I agree. If they would just put a multi-tone selection on there like the old golden Umax, it would be a hot seller. Most folks like to have some indication as to what they are digging up without having to play with the disc. knob every time. It wouldn't work too good in a highly junky environment like most parks. One would spend all day playing with the disc. knob to get an indication.

      Good luck with getting info from Tesoro. They no longer answer or comment on their Facebook page and will not respond to my emails on their website. I have also called with my concerns about their future plans and they hung up on me. I'm a 15 year customer but will no longer use Tesoro.

    did you try notching out the nails or even id mask the nails out to be a more direct comparison to how the mojave is running while blocking out the nail? maybe by the relic masking the nails it will still see the coin.
    just an idea

    The mohave is no compadre. This detector has a 2 inch gain on depth on almost every target. And in hot ground just flip the switch and it runs quieter than a flea fart. That 7 inch coil is a blood hound!

    So basically the machine that looks like a toy has as good or even better internals than these other expensive looking, big digital screens and different beeps, bongs, and buzzes? Yep, just ordered a Mohave..

    you can cancel out the nail with the at pro to just like you did with the the other metal detector

  • @danb7211

    The Mojave looks like a great detector at a fraction of the cost of the others. What happens with the other machines if you eliminate the top left nail? Will they find the coin between the nails below it like the Mojave does? That would be interesting to see.

    • @gwl325
      @gwl325  7 років тому

      No there would be no change in the results, the top left nail is only there to show that nails are discriminated out.

    • @danb7211
      @danb7211 7 років тому +1

      Is that really the best those machines can do for disc'ing out nails? Is it not possible to make them go silent on nails, or will you always here the low grunt of iron?

  • @shatzdog7342
    @shatzdog7342 7 років тому +1

    Why did you only discriminate out the nail on the Mojave? Would have liked to see the comparison done with the nail discriminated out on all of the detectors.

    • @gwl325
      @gwl325  7 років тому +2

      The Mojave is a single tone detector and if you didn't discriminate out the iron nails every target would produce a tone. Most people use the other detectors as I had them set up. I tried other settings on the other detectors that would allow the nails to be discriminated out, but they still failed to sound off or ID the quarter that was between the two nails.

    Ok Roger a deeptech can do what this machine can do. Does your machine cost less than $260.00 bucks?

    • @jeffmyer5263

      No detector on the market compairs to the mojave's performance at that price range.

      gwl325 around 400$ do you have a suggestion?

    • @charlesdeshler202
      @charlesdeshler202 7 років тому

      Tesoro Lobo Supertraq. But its $800 Mojave is 12khz, the higher the better for small gold. lobo is 18khz. AT Gold is also 18khz and can be found for $400 used.

  • @jeffmyer5263
    @jeffmyer5263 7 років тому

    Neil the point is that when you go over iron and get a rotten iron signal you move on. Thats just to show you that a $250.00 dollar detector can put the hurts on these other over priced machines.

    you whould not want to sell a detecter whould you ? I got mine stolen at the park when I went to get something to pick up a syringe from the kids park near my house I know it was my fault for leaving it there and walking about 100 ft away being on disability I can't afford to buy a new machine thanks .

    Put a similar size concentric coil on the other detectors and run the test again.

    • @gwl325
      @gwl325  7 років тому +2

      I don't have any concentric search coils for the other detectors and most other people don't either. They usually just use the stock coils.
