Thank you Isaac for this comment. Qn. If you don't trust the supplier, can you vaccinate chicks again? Answer: Even if you trust the supplier, it is advisable that you vaccinate them again on arrival at the farm. 1. In most cases, suppliers have many chicks and they usually vaccinate using a sprayer or other group vaccination methods. Chances are that some chicks may miss out getting the vaccine. It may land on the head or any other body part. Therefore end up not vaccinated. 2. Some companies may actually not vaccinate. So what do we do? Always vaccinate your chicks on arrival at the farm. Vaccinate each individually on the eye. It may be tiresome but it saves you a lot of money in treatment. Thank you once again for this comment. Dr. Dorothy.

What do you do with the food that remains in the plates the next day since some of the chicken poop on the plates with food mixing their poop and the feed
Dear Football Phobic, Thank you very much for posting this comment. Question. What do we do with the feed that remains on the plates since its mixed with chicken poop? Answer. That remaining feed is discarded or thrown away. Why? 1. It is mixed with chick feaces, so it can be a source of diseases to the chicks. Chicken feaces contain many disease causing micro organisms that can cause the chicks to be at risk of infection when ingested. 2. Chicken as a whole do not likeeating left over feed. As chicken feed, they drop saliva into the remaining feed. With time, the feed smells stale for them and the intake of leftover feed is reduced. So even if you choose to leave it in, the chicks will not eat it properly because its stale according to them. So what should we do? 1. Put small amounts of feed at a time. Put just enough for the chiks to eat and finish - this is the best solution. When you put small amounts, it will ensure that they have access to fresh feed all the time. They will enjoy eating the feed and they will grow fast. Thank you once again for this comment. Dr. Dorothy.

Dear nkalubo Emmanuel, thank you very much for this comment. Qn You dont do Brooding papers? Brooding papers are advisable to be used to cover the little for the first three days. i mean from day 1 to day 3, then you remove them. Brooding papers help to prevent the chicks from eating the littre material directly. Some times they are used to place feed for day one. However after day one you have to use other surfaces to put the feed as the chicks would have but fecal matter on those papers, and this would be health risk if you continue placing feed on those papers
Dear faith Wanyonyi, thank you for this comment. AT out farm we supply produce and supply day old broilers. A chick goes for 2800 Uganda shillings. Our parent stock is Hubbard breed.
Dear Mulema Arafat, Thank you for this comment. Incase you are in Uganda, The good quality kroiler chicks can be got from NAGRC &DB, LES station in Entebbe. The ministry of Agriculture Animal industries and fisheries farm, its located at Entebbe near the airport. Incase you are out of Uganda, you can get proper information from your area Veterrinary Doctor or from your Ministry of Agriculture help desk. Thank you once again for this comments. Dr. Dorothy.
Dear Ibnu Astra, Thank you for this comment. These chicks can be got from breeder companies within your country. They are commercial broiler chicks incase you want those for meat production. They can be reared for 28 - 42 days depending on the target weight for your market. Incase you want chicks for egg production, they are commercial layer chicks. Please make sure you get chicks from the breeder companies to avoid being cheated by persons who look out for selfish gains. Such people could give you poor quality chicks or they can tell you a price of chiks that is too high compared to the actual price from the breeder company.
