Messicole it depends which one the main go karts are usually 8BHP so it kinda depends the higher BHP the higher MPH/KPH. I also race too what club do you go?
Tip 6 if you are coming up behind a really slow driver best place to overtake a slow driver is at a Hairpin or then end of a Straight because they will most likely brake earlier meaning you can brake later then them get along side them before they turn into the corner
On some corners it’s actually very beneficial to enter and control and oversteer. This is a much more advanced technique, relying on vertical weight transfer, I don’t recommend doing it in WEC cause it wears the tires out.
Yeah, this is also known as "rotating the car around the corner". This is done by getting the right amount of slip angle and trail braking coming into the corner, it takes a lot of practise and it is usually done easier in sim racing games than in real life. It is also much harder to do with a go kart than a normal road car, I haven't proceeded to do this technique right on a go kart yet, just in a sim, but I'm looking forward to going karting and trying to practise it as soon as it will be possible :)
not necessarily if you are one of those people who have some weight then you will have more grip in the corners because there will be more load on the tires
@@terrainaheadpullup3092 if you look at all the fastest laps at any go kart place they are set by lightweight drivers, it's correct more weight is more grip but if a lightweight driver knows how to drive and use a skittish kart to his advantage its the faster kart overall I know of the daytona dmax karting championship in the UK, they race in weight divisions and the difference in laptime for the lightweight and heavyweights is easily 5 seconds per lap
Getting kicked out hahha, I was crushing into everyone on purpose and the team gave me thumbs up, it’s actually fun and you can see them getting mad about it
Sliding does help rotate the kart round corners, but it’s more the drifting part after you’ve passed the corner where you have no grip where you’re trying to accelerate :)
Tbh Racing line isnt that important but is actually amazing. Try going really wide and cut in for good speed also the others need to go in which will make a gap.
I thought I was gonna learn something......... I would have said... keep it calm at first through Quali and build speed. Position your weight to the outside wheel (for additional grip) when turning and use the car in font as a marker. If hes too slow and holding you up, gently keep your front bumper on his (without the marshals seeing) and push them gently wide as they approach the apex. This way you will pass without marshals hearing you've smacked their bumper.... What goes on behind you is of no concern as its all about momentum in front....
As I said dont actually be that aggressive, am 13 and more aggression can lead to Black flag but rush them and stres them more. Try going really wide on corners and cut in always works
you can be aggressive just don't go over the top if someone in front of you is swerving all over the place don't complain that he/her is dangerous driving find a slow corner then just send one down the inside so your along side him/her by doing this you block them from the Apex forcing them wide if he/her is getting on your patience then just be impatient but fair
So where do you start. Kids need to start somewhere to make it further up and also karting is not about power but weight shifting and momentum. One skid and you're done
@@LastStar007 exactly! I finished 7th out of 8 in both Teamsport Crawley sessions this weekend just gone. The driver behind me managed to out do me on one lap but they finished behind me. It's not always about position it's mostly about lap times. My mate who finished second and third was slower than me over two laps!
With these tips, I shaved 8 seconds off of my lap times last time I was on the track!
just tried go karts today with friends, i'm hooked
Awesome 🤙🏻

I tried it to its great
Joe Teare which one did you go bro?

a tip that helped me alot: push the seat to the front as much as possible, the difference is like night and day.
I'm going here next Saturday for my party! So excited!!!
No contact? Sometimes you just have to give that slower driver a 'nudge' to get them out of the way...
Needlesgunsandgrass especially when playing as bowser.
If they don't move you have to move them.

how to annoy slow drivers
1. Nudge them
or
2. send one up the inside so they can't turn in to the Apex then blast away from them
Ya look at the pro drivers they bump draft a lot
It’s funny, racing games like forza or other simulator types actually help
I think this is my favorite driving video from you so far! Loved hearing these tips!! Thanks Matt! :D
Thanks for taking the time to make this, nice and succinct.
My main focus right now is learning how much to brake. Btw, subbing cause I also see u do GT Sport!
I’m going tomorrow, and this was very helpful
That's my favourite track

No contact, but we do anyway, TEAM TOP GUN
.... I watched this video to be faster then my dad... he just told me that there going to set a speed limit for me...
What GoPro settings did you use here?? Thanks
great tips. thanks for sharing :)
Be as light as possible, better acceleration meaning getting to the top speed faster

Great video Matt. Good tips, well presented

I'm pretty sure if you slide very specifically around some corners it can make you faster

Belive me, it matters. A lot.
Yeah you go out there and run a non racing line and I'll run a racing line And watch how fast I closed the gap lol
if you understand circles and how going round a bigger arc is quicker than going round a smaller arc
As I am the 3rd fastest in team sport in Liverpool ask for Ben Wilson if you visit
Awesome!
Im 1st in Coventry
just be smooth and that and keep trying
I’m going go kart racing in an hr and I’m literally terrified
You should try doing a wheelie with a sport bike while lane splitting
My biggest issue is starting first and the engine failing
brake and turn is litelary how you drift
Do off road go kart tips
Search Pastor Maldonado, then you'll truly know how to race
if you mean the ex F1 racer, you are out of your mind. (unless of course you meant that sarcastically, in which case you're a genius)

Be aggressive as you can.
No it doesn’t work like that

Every time I tried to go fast the go kart felt like it was going to fall apart
Daniel Philpott as said by many fast drivers ‘if you are not afraid your not going fast enough’
Lol
Just send it!
think of it like riding a bike the faster you go the easier it is
I'm ten and I did the wide line but I keep being cut off by other competitors so create a gap before taking wide lines Im based in Crawley teamport

But I actually did this and I came second in a kid cart against loads of adults
not used brakes to hard you spinout more
I watch all the karting videos and just disregard dumb and/or obvious things
Since I’m 13 I get to use adult karts, hope I bet my dad lol
Same im 14
Go kart racing is a joke. Whoever usually gets started at front usually wins. If you start in last place, its almost impossible to pass 10 people.

@@akinatouge9763 You go as fast as you can then turn the wheel hard around corners and power slide. Its called drifting. I watched Tokyo drift bro.
That's why a lot of tracks score based on lap times instead of position.
