    The problem is that special weapons are inherently annoying to die to. It isn’t fun getting sniped, fusioned, glaived, or shotgunned because they often make the player feel like their deaths weren’t preventable. For instance getting sniped after you two tap someone with a handcannon, or getting fusioned by someone invisible in a corner never ever feels fair or preventable. At least with shotguns the error is always a positioning one made by the player which may still be annoying to die to but it doesn’t feel like dying to it was unfair or cheap. I know this doesn’t really help the variety of the crucible but it definitely makes it a more balanced experience. Although I do understand your point that players need to stay engaged and enjoy PvP to actually play it regardless if it is balanced or not.

    Honestly as a "Dad" player approaching 50, I find it easier to run a good sidearm as a my secondary. If I main an auto or a pulse, then someone gets in my face, the sidearm always has ammo. Even if I score special, and say rock a fusion or a shotgun, I'm usually on defence trying to helplessly to to fend off an aggressive hunter who is juking left and right, zig zagging every way, stompee rolling dodging invisible, bouncing, throwing knives - like a single short range shot with a shotgun doesn't reach him, and he one hit kills me with his knife thing, or if I go fusion I'm dead before the charge fires off .. if my shot missed I'm vulnerable. With a Helio or whatever, I can track the hunter better and keep shooting til he dies or I do. TLDR: As a low skill player, even if you started me with tons of special ammo, I'd rather just go double primary cause sidearms are more user friendly. A good cascade point SMG compliments and auto rifle pretty well too for second kill cleanups

      I'm a scout/pulse and sidearm player as well. Have been since sidearms were first introduced in D1. It just works.
      Edit: I only use shotguns when I really need to in pvp, which I hate.

    I agree with a lot of what you said in this video but I am not a PVP main I have just recently fought my way above a 1.0 KD but what I don't agree with is you saying everyone needs to fight for the ammo because that's just going to end up being the best person on the enemy team probably killed the entire enemy team and got the heavy ammo and it's just going to be a further snowball effect because the matchmaking is still not super fantastic so you get those games where your entire team might get 10 kills a piece and the best guy on the enemy team is sitting around 40 kill just stopping all of you.

    • @Dockula
      @Dockula 7 місяців тому

      Now occasionally very rarely I have been the guy on the enemy team stomping the entire other team and I can sit there and tell you in those games when I get to be God if there was a point to fight over like the heavy I would say my super or something and completely wipe the other team if I was the enemy badass. And I'm not. So I'll be honest I just don't think that is the solution because that's just going to get bad players snowballed

    No disrespect towards bungie but the 2 crates test trials weekends were pretty pathetic. 1st weekend there were crates in each spawn, so all you had to do was run up and hold e, basically pre ammo meter system with 2 crates in mid. Then the 2nd weekend the first half there was no special at all (which I found to be very enjoyable ironically).

      Nothing pissed me off more than having to walk up to the box on endless vale to get my ammo. Like just put it in my inventory if it’s going to be 10 meters away from me on spawn.

    Imo Conditional doesn't need a nerf, well and bubble do, or did
    Let's see how it shapes out now.
    Also, DUDE thank you, you're the only other person who brought up how information regarding special and heavy is relayed.
    It is too buried in the kill feed, that information needs to be on the top center of your screen where raid important stuff is now in TFS.
    And more so, under the sub class icons you should be able to see a green and purple ammo box if the enemy has that ammo in reserves, so you know what to expect.

    • @itsjustsideways
      @itsjustsideways  6 місяців тому

      Dude such a good idea, having little boxes under the subclass icons up top is a perfect place to communicate that info.

There’s an underserved audience of smart pvp players ready for real conversations about these elements of the game.

    I havent played in a while so its possible this has changed, but when I was playing the trials meta was 3 defender titans waiting for the control point and then popping bubble on it for 3 rounds in a row. The only viable bubble counter was having fast cooldown shutdown supers or playing the double bubble game. In my opinion, without conditional finality, trials becomes too super centric due to bubble. Unless they have added a new counter or nerfed bubble, the meta will just go back to this in trials if they nerf conditional finality, which is why I quit playing.

    • @itsjustsideways
      @itsjustsideways  7 місяців тому +2

      I totally agree, and yes conditional has been one of the few things that can break up a bubble titan shut out. But I don’t think that’s the way to put a balancing check on super strategies in trials. I think we just need more similarity in super cooldown times between roaming, shutdown, and defensive. And maybe not get them so quickly like you can with bubble titan. In the time since you stopped playing I’m pretty sure they’ve nerfed bubble cooldown time a little bit. And they just announced a big ability rebalance yesterday that is making cooldown times between the supers much more comparable.

    • @ModularRefridgerator
      @ModularRefridgerator 7 місяців тому

    Preach!!! Speaking as a 1.3 I am more competitive without worrying about losing my super because I took off a special and I’m in my first year of D2 PvP. Sweats get all the good shit. I liked it better when it was just dropped by the people carrying it and getting some on every death. More fun strategically.

    I only came back to this game a week ago and was just grinding brave weapons. I did pvp here and there i can feel the sniper lost its edge, did a field test sniping taken in the raid and no way I was not getting head shots, but eye of soul i was able to.....took it into pvp had some good kills though out but man special ammo sucked took for ever to get a bullet and was no longer fun to run with it.....back to pulse and side arm.......maybe shotgun is okay i just did not bother. One-shots aren't fun in any game. If all snipers were projectiles and we were engaging at long distances often then sure I could consider getting a one-headshot kill skillful. Currently they're hitscan weapons that deal too much damage so when you're at the top levels of play everyone is getting instantly killed and at low levels it's inconsistent and people end up learning the wrong lessons from engagements. Getting one-shot by a shotgun as someone slides around the corner isn't fun and there's limits to what can be done about that too.
    It may be the boomer in me but I'd rather the TTK be drawn out a little bit more and cap out special damage so 99% of them don't one-shot. The longer an engagement goes the more skill that can be displayed- not just quick reflexes. Positioning and consistently landing shots will matter much more. If you land a headshot on someone with a sniper, they live, and you are quick enough to swap to your other weapon and finish them off, then you deserved that kill entirely and/or they were not playing smart. Most shotguns should have higher consistent damage up to mid range instead of one-shotting when you're in point-blank and doing absolutely nothing from far away. At least Fusion Rifles require a charge up and to land several shots in the burst to get one-shots but them getting lower damage but being effective at mid range would be good. Primary weapons will have a much better stake in combat overall while secondaries still have impact.

    if they really decide to nerf con finality they better do it in a way that doesnt change it in pve because if yet again an awesome exo gets nerfed in pve because its good in pvp im gonna lose it. Also as long as bubble and well are dominent in trials we need that gun. outside of that its really just an above average shotgun (not even the best in the kinetic slot) that has the ability to get a multi kill from time to time. The reason its so annoying is just because everyone uses it, not because its actually that oppressive

    • @itsjustsideways
      @itsjustsideways  7 місяців тому

      I completely agree with it needing to be unchanged in pve. It’s been pissing me off for a long time that bungie won’t have separate weapon balancing for PvP and PvE. I’m bummed because well of radiance just got buffed in PvP, but thankfully bubble got nerfed. So there’s still going to be plenty of reason to use conditional. Hopefully the changes to how kills charge super will make other roaming and shutdown options more viable, then we’ll see less of the stupid shotgun.

    SBMM should fucking go. For real. And no, Conditional doesn't need a nerf at this point. They need to REALLY NERF bubble and well. Conditional is the only thing to have a chance against those supers. Then and only after that, they should look into the shotgun itself.

      Stop the cap. Pretty much every super instant wrecks bubbles/wells inc everyone inside. Several grenades kills people inside bubbles/wells. Snipers easily kills players in a well if you deal a presision shot. Even shotgun with one two punch destroys people in bubbles. Strand dive easily counters. Instant freez lock abilities counters them etc. Stop the effin cap kiddo. Bubble and well are hilariously bad in pvp. And easy to counter with pretty much everything. The best way to counter it is by having a brain and just walk away. I know right... shocking. 😂. Finality absolutely need some nerfs. It isnt just broken busted against supers but in general as well with the ridiculous range and instant freez so you have a easy free kill. Besides... a weapon should never ever be capable of countering a super in the first place. Other than by another super. Just give supers the same cooldown and just a 1 time only in a match.

    I'll add that being team shot for me is **no.where.near** as frustrating as being conditional finality'd for the millionth time by a no-radar signature invisible player, or one who continues to run directly at you, eating all your bullets, cause they know they can just slide shotgun and still come out victorious in the end. The tactic of simply running directly at people actively firing at you cause you know it's gonna take them half a magazine before the auto rifle peppering you "matters" enough for you to be concerned - its just not a great look. Running at someone with conditional finality should not "win" the encounter as often as it does. It should not be the percentage play but it pays off so much and to me that is the most frustrating of all.

    They should revert but move Snipers back to heavy. It's responsible for killing lobbies. People huddle up, followed by outright quitting and sniper rifles shouldn't have better stats than that of primary's with unlimited range.

    • @itsjustsideways
      @itsjustsideways  7 місяців тому

      Now that’s a spicy take lol. Idk they would be useless given their current performance, if they were heavy. Especially on m+k. Snipers are hard to balance in general, but especially so with all the flinch, accuracy bloom, and aim assist we have. Idk what the answer is there.

    @Wizemouth 7 місяців тому

    I think they should of left it alone. PVP was alright. Now you take away half the guns in the game because people don't want to take the time to get a decent fusion, sniper, shotgun.. So they complain and they take it away. Imagine doing the revolker bounty now..Most people just cant do it. Then it comes down to the Meta which is garbage cause it makes the game so liner where you should only use these certain guns. If it was for each kill you get a piece of ammo, i would like to see that. But this meter takes too long to fill up. For the 6v6 why are messing with it now that the game is dead. DLC over priced.

    Conditional doesn't need a nerf as it is functioning exactly how it should. Hell, it only gives you 2 shots at a time unlike other shotguns that give 6+. Its an equalizer that came to the front because of Bubble and Well that a lot of us don't want to use in pvp but feel like we have to.. What do you want it to do? If you are promoting a nerf, offer a valid solution or alternative to at least show you've given it some real thought.

      We got the super balancing in the community post yesterday, bubble will no longer be dominant and the cooldown times have been adjusted for every super to be more similar. That solves that issue you brought up, still conditional will clap bubbles and wells and frankly everything because of the dps it can put out with the shatters and ignitions. Maybe we just tone that down a bit so you don’t 1 shot guardians at silly ranges and in defensive supers in the crucible.
