I think 1 4 6 5 creates an emotional mediative atmosphere and is easy to listen to.

It's all about tension and release, with the 5 bringing the highest tension (being the most dissonant relative to 1), which is why the 5-1 cadence is probably the most common in all genres of western music. The 6 actually has relatively low tension (low dissonance) to the 1, as most of their tones are in common, which is why it can easily be substituted for the 1.

By your own rhetorical admission this is a "straw man" argument about the "simplicity" of CCM trying to single out a frequent diatonic chord progression, eg I, IV, VI, V. The analogy would be an acoustic guitar that always plays "G position chords" and uses a capo for different songs in different keys, which BTW is not that uncommon. However, current CCM song recordings go beyond just their chord sequences and include the things you've demonstrated - different voicings, instrumentations, rhythms, and specific parts (melodies or counter melodies). The question for the keyboard player is how much of the original arrangement and to what degree do you incorporate it for your church's worship team, just piano chords, the actual piano part, layered pads, other independent instruments such as organ, or one of your Song Specific Patches? Your videos are great, but I would encourage you to go a little deeper into why you're selecting specific Sunday Keys App patches, which for the majority are not similar to a song's original patch selections? Of course the piano is an exception to this last premise.

All of these songwriters claim to be inspired by the Lord… I believe they’re inspired to make money. I really believe the God of heaven in earth has more imagination than 1456 progressions. It is so boring if you listen to modern pop music. They use 1465 or 1456 or 1654. Same four chord progressions. Come on guys seek the Lord and ask him for truly anointed Musick that causes him to want to come and hug his church and hug him in the spirit.

Making a video on chord progressions is super cool. Often times learning the progressions helps with flow of service and spontaneous moments. It simplifies it so that you can focus on what you should be focusing on…worshiping

As always fun discussion. Love the dissection of the underlaying framework of the songs we sing. One thing… do we REALLY need a new video view every sentence?

Hey David! How are you doing? I like how your discussing music theory and even calling at the psychology of the chord progression. Very cool, something that I never experienced in the 1980s. Although I did take music theory at college. Anyway, thanks for making those plug-ins available on Sunday keys app. I’ll be using the Model D Moog Keith for leads to this Easter Sunday I’m really glad the pitch bend works, still, hoping you’re gonna put PB on the app, so we can bend the actual strings in Sunday, just like a violin! 🎻 happy Easter resurrection Sunday, , congrats on 100 K See you at worship innovators!

Most songs use the chords I, IV, V and VI. The differences are only result of permutations, eg VI-IV-I-V. But fortunately there are triad extensions of seconds, sevenths and ninths. And the third in the bass also sounds very attractive. I suspect that there will be a return of the non-scale dominant seventh chords.

I was waiting for you to go C/E which makes it sounds like any other worship songs but I learned about the Bb7 chord.
