"You believe the mechanic was actually driving the car?" "Yeah, my brother-in-law and I both testified that he was." This is the first I have ever heard that James Dean was not driving the car in which he was killed but that it was Rolf Wutherich, the mechanic who was with him. This seems impossible since Dean's Porsche 550 sports car was struck by a much larger oncoming car and was totally crushed on the driver's side. If Wutherich was driving he would have at the very least sustained massive injuries and would likely have been killed. Although Wutherich was thrown from the car on impact and had injuries to his hip and femur that required surgery, his injuries were not nearly as devastating as were those of Dean who was pronounced dead-on-arrival at the hospital. And the fact that Dean remained in the car and his left foot was crushed between the brake and clutch pedals indicates he had to be the one who was driving.

And it forces me to think what am I doing with my life, why did I waste it till now. Let's all try to root out ego from our lives. And just play your part and be always ready to leave.
Thanks for the comment S/S, there is a fickle finger of fate at work, however, I believe "THE LIE" is the one we tell ourself about ourselves, the lie can be positive or negative. Life as it shows up is reality or the truth. Our conciseness is made up of three parts, a balance of power between our ID, EGO, & SUPER EGO, if one of those is out of wack there can be trouble. We are what we create for ourselves. Life is but a stage and all of us players, however the play is not cast in heaven, we can audition for the part we want as Jimmy did, achieving the dream does not guarantee longevity.
Hollywood movie star James Dean was killed 65 years ago at the age of 24 in a car accident with his famous Porsche in California. The day before his death, James Dean had finished his third film, The Giant. Elizabeth Taylor was her co-star in the film. James Dean, who has appeared in many television programs, became famous with his first starring role in the movie "East of Paradise". His second film, Rebellion Without a Cause, had not yet been released at the time of his death. دینJames Dean quickly became a star while alive and immortalized one of the Hollywood legends.

James Dean 1955 - Porsche spyder 550 - he wa stopped for speeding in a 55 mph limit, he was been Followed by a 1955 Ford County Squire Station wagon pulling a trailer ! Also just watched UA-cam video - James Dean's Spyder...Found? SEE 22 seconds says Serial number of car 550-0055
He could have been saved if they put a neck brace on, supposedly he was still alive but the drive to the hospital is what killed him, all the bumps caused his neck to break even more and was dead on arrival.
Fica uma sensação de como seria o restante da carreira se não tivesse morrido no auge. Seria uma carreira tão brilhante como a do Paul Newman ? Too bad.
James Dean left Blackwell's Corner at 5:30pm. He crashed in Cholame at 5:45pm. That means he covered almost 30 miles in 15 minutes!! Do the math. That is an AVERAGE speed of 120 mph! It is flat leaving Blackwell's but it is a long winding UPHILL drive over the hills to Cholame. If he just filled up with gas and had two grown men in the Porsche Spyder there is no way he was going uphill fully loaded at 120mph. But on the downhill side with a long straight away ahead of him in a car with a top speed of around 140 mph then 120 mph would be no problem! He had just told Bruce Kessler at Blackwell's he already had it over 120 mph on the trip up north. Mr. and Mrs. White testified they were doing around 65 mph when the Spyder blew past them like they were standing still just before the crash. Donald Turnupseed in the 1950 Ford had just overtaken some cars on his trip heading east. The Y intersection and Hwy. 41 is just a slight veer to the left with no stop signs or lights and no reason for Turnupseed to slow down much to make the turn. WORST case scenario: The Ford was doing 70 mph when it turned in front of Dean. The Spyder was doing top speed of 140 mph at the bottom of a long straight hill.
To observe the angle of turn no more suited for 30-40 mph from Turnupseeds Ford, his car would have flipped and rolled at a 70 mph mile turn. There was the CHP who issued the ticket that would have delayed the ETA by 12-15 minutes to the crash site. Can we suppose that the very same CHP who issued the speeding ticket was in fact the officer that Dispatch sent him to investigate the incident? To take that turn at 70 mph, you'd have to be one hell of a Hollywood Stunt Driver. (Or...........shall we say it was?)
If you read " On the road to Salinas " by Lee Raskin ,that chronicles the day Dean died ,from 8.00 am in the morning to the actual accident .He has also included the witness statements from the inquest with the probable speed of both cars,Dean and Turnupseed ,and several witnesses who were driving that same stretch of road .If you read the book you will learn that Dean does not come out of it very well but that is for you to decide ,should you get the book !
I've never heard that the mechanic was driving. This is the first place I'm seeing/hearing that. I heard James Dean was pushed down and somewhat under the steering wheel. I hear this sheriff saying he testified it was the mechanic driving but I've never heard it before. Maybe I haven't visited the right site yet. R.I.P. James Dean
You get the truth here my friend. "The Squares" as Jimmy would call them were trying to "save lives" by lying...They were worried so many girls were ga ga for him and all us boys wanted to be like him, (true true, still do). They figured if our hero was driving we'd a) reject him, 2) drive safer, 3) see that living in the fast lane is a dead end,...see what I did there? lol.. Thanks for watching my films, remember don't believe anything you read, look for video our eye witnesses, and even then, trust you gut, cuz people are pulling you leg...
@@Airbaja Wow! I watched/listened again. I hear that sheriff saying he and his brother-in-law testified that it was the mechanic driving. Was that at Turnupseed's court hearing? Dad always told me to not believe everything I read in the newspaper. I wonder if the mechanic asked Jimmy if he could drive. After all, maybe he wanted to see how the car ran, since he'd be taking care of it. Maybe they split the driving. Man-oh-man, what a thought. By the way, good video indeed. There sure is a lot to think about eh? Thanks! R.I.P James Dean.
@@shawneedalegrimm9728 It was very common to split the driving. The Mechanic was his buddy, James might had been asleep, we'll never know. All we do know is Jimmy was not at the wheel..Follow you Pop's advice, people who love you mean the best.

I belive Dean wasnt driving but he had a reputation as a crazy driver. I have an magazine article about Dean before he died called Lone Wolf. It compares him to Brando but it does talk about his driving saying that crazy kid is going to kill himself.
w/o the CHP traffic stop Dean would have been well passed the intersection before Turnupseed's Ford arrived...twist of fate

Going to Fairmont in September.
65 years, that will be a painful experience, send him my regards. The man would still be as cool today as he was then. Absolutely timeless.
Ed , did you get to fairmount, let us know your experience there, should be cool stories about that visit.
Yes I did go to Fairmont last year. I had been several times but it was the first time to visit the grave. If they didn't have signs it would be easy to miss.
@@eddean6663 you’re lucky 🍀, do you live in USA, I’m in London, I’d love to visit Jimmy’s hometown, Morrisey of the SMITHS, once did a video of one of his songs in fairmount, he is a massive Dean fan, can’t remember the name of the song, but it goes to his grave, old school and other places made famous in the STOCK photo’s, be cool to see any film or pictures of your trip/trips, you should set it up on UA-cam. Anyone know that SMITHS/ MORRISEY VIDEO let us know the title of the song, good luck to you ED.

If alive today, would have dozen of Lamborghini and Ferrari
and maybe one Porsche....
How can you coll a baby turnip seed
He could have been saved if they put a neck brace on, supposedly he was still alive but the drive to the hospital is what killed him, all the bumps caused his neck to break even more and was dead on arrival.
clayufcmusicfan yeah right. He pretty much took it straight to the face. No way

Uma perda lamentável
Zorro Alphonso - wow, you did your homework.
I'm impressed with your calculations 👍

@@Airbaja Sure! I can see them splitting it up and I've heard that Jimmy could not sleep at night and would fall asleep during the day at times. Like you said, we will never know. Damn it! Thanks for the good advice!
Shawnee Dale Grimm Life is short, for some like Jimmy very short, but he lived life to the fullest, don't get cheated, take a big bite out of life, find something you dig and go for it. There will never be another time, there will never be another you, be the best version of you possible, that brings true happiness! Peace..
The photo with James Dean's head on the ground near the stretcher looks fake. The four other people at the scene do not seem very concerned with a dying man at their feet which leads me to believe there was no one laying there.
That’s Wolf Wurtherich on the ground.
