"But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments" (Matthew 19:17)."Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, 'Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?' So Jesus said to him..."You know the commandments" (Mark 10:17,19) and then He listed half of the ten commandments (also in Luke 18:19-20).
The devils believe also and tremble... you see that by works a man is justified and not by faith only! I think we should listen to the inspiration of James and not rip what Paul said out of it’s context! An obeying faith is the only way. Not a dead faith that James warns about !!
The phrase, “shall be saved,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism. In Romans 5:8-9, the apostle Paul said, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” But when Jesus gave the “Great Commission,” He said these words: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mk.16:15-16). So, while there is no doubt that Jesus saves us by His blood, He only does so when we are baptized. This connects the blood of Christ to baptism!
John 3:26 New International Version (NIV) 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan-the one you testified about-look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
THE BIBLE SAYS BAPTISM SAVES US Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Acts 16:30-31 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. The prison warden asked Paul and Silas a direct question - WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED - they answered - BELIEVE (TRUST Jesus) and you will be SAVED. No mention of baptism here and in dozens of other verses.
todd smith - the thief on the cross went to heaven without being baptised. We are told to be baptised but it is not a requirement for salvation. We are saved by grace through faith ALONE, NOT of works (Eph 2:8-9) The 3 words “repent of sin” are not found in the bible! God repented more than anyone in the KJV bible. There are 4 different types of repentance in the bible. You need to correctly apply them to each case. Turning from evil” ie repenting of sin is works in Jonah (very clear). Jonah 3:10 “And God saw their WORKS, that THEY TURNED from their EVIL WAY; and God REPENTED of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.” Romans 11 “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.” Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 2:16 “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Romans 4:4-8 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that WORKETH NOT, but BELIEVETH on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness WITHOUT WORKS, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
@@Matthew24.4 , Very well shown, however I think that those who believe that you must be baptized to be saved, will not be swayed. Many times have I tried to reason with them, using verses, reason, and straight forward commonsense; to no avail. My hope is your post would make a difference to those who are new in the Faith. Be blessed.
david graham - thank you for the insights and encouragement. My hope that is I may at the very least be able to plant a seed and get people to read the bible and study this out. I know that the orthodox and many larger denominations believe that baptism is required for salvation eg RCC etc. Outside of them, is there any other significant sized groups that believe this eg Pentecostals? I’d like to better understand what I’m dealing with. God Bless.
@@Matthew24.4 , I'm clueless as to exactly which denominations believe that baptism is necessary for salvation. I do know that Catholicism teaches infant baptism, but as far as Protestant denominations, I'm no help. The one thing I do know, is that when discussions of hot topics such as this one, the debate rages on, and on, with not much accomplished except wasted time. I've learned not to get to deep in theological discussions with strangers. I figure if you believe that Jesus died on the cross for us, was killed, sent to hell, and resurrected, and you have faith in him, then there's common ground to discuss. Sadly, I've had discussions with people who believe that we must do even more to have salvation, and that also has lead to debates. That's why I'm careful to get into discussions on posts. I try to limit my comments to positively affirm posts I like, such as yours, and generally, leave it at that. I pray the Lord blesses you mightily.

Cornelius and the Gentles with him were clearly saved before their water baptism. They already received the Holy Spirit which is not given to unbelievers (John 14:17).
THE BIBLE SAYS BAPTISM IS IN WATER. 1 Peter 3:20-21 (20) Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. (21) The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Mark 1:9-10 (9) And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. (10) And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: Acts 8:38-39 (38) And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. (39) And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
THE BIBLE SAYS BAPTISM PLACES US “IN CHRIST” Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Colossians 3:2 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Please don't hate because I believe in what God says, trust not in man for salvation, stop looking to the thief on the cross, only God is judge only He Has the authority to forgive, Don't trust in man where there is no truth, Trust in Christ Jesus, Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. PS I love Dr. Erwin Lutzer, and God bless all in Christ Jesus.
"The thief on the cross proves to us that baptism is not necessary for salvation." Baptism is part of NT law. The NT was not installed until Christ's death! The thief on the cross was saved by Christ while He was still alive and therefore under the still under OT law. When we are baptized, we're done so into His death (Rom 6:3-4).
🤦♂️ Oh the biblically ignorant. How they embarrass themselves. The CRIMINAL (he was no mere thief) was pre Christ's death and resurrection. Still under the old Covenant and before the church and New Covenant were established. Study people. Study.
The Bible never tells us for sure whether or not the thief was baptized. The Bible never says the thief was baptized. It also never says he wasn't. Anyone using the thief on the cross to support the doctrine of salvation by faith alone is basing their beliefs on something that 1) does not in any way support their position and 2) is improvable. What we need to take from this is that if someone is going to make a decision that is going to have eternal consequences, then they need to make those decisions based on facts and not on assumptions. We need to make decisions that affect our eternal souls on fact and not on guesses or feelings.
@@Ktb141 How many faiths profess to be Christian? 1000's...Only one has the proper authority to baptize, and it isn't the Catholics, or the other 998+ or -...God has given light unto men and yet so many reject it preferring darkness.
The idea that Nicodemus would not have connect water with baptism is incorrect. Jn 1:24-26 the Pharisees investigated John and where very interested in water baptism because they connected water baptism with the ministry of the Christ.
If your doctrine is correct concerning the method of salvation - that baptism is not the method of conversion, and that all you need to do is believe to be saved - then those that believe that baptism is necessary for salvation meet the requirements of your doctrine and they are saved! These people are not in jeopardy. However, if they are correct - and baptism is the method of conversion and necessary for salvation - then all those that have taught and believed otherwise will be eternally lost. Therefore, those that teach and believe that baptism is necessary for salvation are safe either way, whether their doctrine is true or not. Yet those that believe baptism is not necessary for salvation are completely dependent upon their interpretation of scripture and doctrine to be true, otherwise they will be damned. I dont know about you, but I would rather err on the side of caution! Matthew 7:21-23 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:" Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." SPEAKING TO THE MAN IN THE VIDEO: Concerning your understanding of 1 Corinthians 1, you need to have understanding of the complete context to see that Paul actually teaches that baptism is a part of conversion and salvation. 1 Corinthians 1:12-17 12. Some of you say, I am of Paul, another says I am of Apollos, and another says, I am of Cephas (Simon Peter); But I tell you, I am of Christ! (I am a Baptist, I am a Methodist, I am a Lutheran…) 13. I ask, has Christ been divided? It was not Cephas that was crucified for you; It was not in the name of Paul that you were baptized! 14. I give thanks unto God that I did not baptize any of you, except for Crispus and Gaius, 15. so that none might say that they were baptized in my name! 16. I also baptized the house of Stephanus, but I do not remember baptizing any other. 17. Christ did not send me to do baptisms, but to preach the gospel; Continued... 1 Corinthians 3:4-8 4. For when one says, I am of Apollos, and another says, I am of Paul, is this not evidence of a worldly mindset? (1 Corinthians 1:12-17) 5. Who is Paul? Who is Apollos? Are they not simply servants through whom you have come to trust in God? Did not both give unto you as the Lord allowed? 6. I planted (brought the message), Apollos watered (baptized), but it is God who brought the growth! 7. So the one who planted and the one who watered, they are not what matters, but it is the Lord our God who brought the increase. 8. One planted and one did the watering, and each of us shall receive a reward according to each one’s work. Can you see that your presumption concerning water baptism is in error? I pray that you can. Context matters. Jesus is our example: Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River, and then he received the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 tells us to repent and be baptized, of which we can do when entering the water. If we do this we will receive the Holy Spirit.
@@kardiognostesministries8150 Based on whose criteria for what the true gospel is? Look, there are many modern preachers that claim what you have said, but their words are empty. They do not match up with what the men from the past have taught nor the scriptures. For a gospel to be true, it must be the original gospel - not the doctrines of men. I will allow the men who were taught by the Apostles in the first century - and those that followed after them to determine what truth is in this matter and help interpret the scripture. Practically every church leader before 400 AD taught that baptism is necessary and is a part of conversion - and thus necessary for salvation. If you reject their words, then you are a fool. “The Gnostics assert that it is unnecessary to bring a person to the water. Rather, they mix water and oil and place this mixture upon the foreheads of those being initiated. This they maintain is the redemption. Other heretics also reject these practices altogether, claiming that the mystery of the unspeakable and invisible power of God should not be performed by visible and corruptible people. They claim that the knowledge of the unspeakable greatness of God is itself perfect redemption!” - Iranaeus (180 AD) “He was born and baptized so that by his passion, he could purify us through the waters.” - Ignatius (105 AD) “I have heard that some teachers maintain that there is no other repentance than that which takes place when we descend into the water and receive remission of our former sins. Then he said unto me, that was sound doctrine which you heard; For that truly is the case. Because he that has received remission of his sins must not sin any more, but he must live in purity.” - Hermas (120 AD) “But there is no other way than this to become acquainted with Christ: To be washed in the fountain spoken of by Isaiah for the remission of sins, and then to live sinless lives.” - Justin Martyr (160 AD) “The union of living by the instructions along with baptism is like a mixture of milk and water. The milk allows itself to mix well with the water just as baptism does for the remission of sins.” - Clement of Alexandria (197 AD) “Oh how miserable is unbelief that denies unto God his own properties, simplicity and power! What then? Is it not wonderful that death can now be washed away by the sacred bath?” - Tertullian (198 AD) “Regeneration did not take place with John the Baptist. However, with Jesus and his disciples it does occur. What is called the bath of regeneration takes place with the renewal of the spirit. Because the spirit will come; But it does not come unto all that ascend up from the water.” - Origen (228 AD) “By the bath of regeneration, we were reborn as new born babies.” - Origen (228 AD) “One is not reborn by the imposition of hands when he receives the holy spirit. Rather, it is through baptism. Therefore, being already reborn through baptism, he is cleansed and may receive the holy spirit.” - Cyprian (250 AD) “Just as a heretic may not lawfully ordain or lay on hands, so neither may he baptize. Paul, when after John’s baptism, re-baptized those disciples. So why would we hesitate to re-baptize those that come in from churches of heresy? - Firmilian (256 AD) “The baptism of heretics and schematics do not bestow the true one… Therefore, unless one is baptized by the true baptism, one can not be saved, but will be condemned with the carnal in the judgment of Jesus Christ.” - 7th council of Carthage (256 AD) “It has been decreed that those who come in from heresy must first be taught according to true doctrine and then be cleansed by baptism.” - Dionysius of Alexandria (262 AD) “Yet if there is no baptism, there will not be remission of sins. Rather, everyone not baptized will die in their sins.” - Disputes of Archelaus and Manes (320 AD) Now the only question is, will you choose to continue in your error or will you hear the words of all of these men that were a part of establishing this solid foundation in the beginning of Christianity? If you want to believe all of the modern "scholars" who have been taught and helped perpetuate a false gospel which allows for sin and claims that we are all sinners and always will be, and that do not actually teach that a true Christian must turn from their sin, having had the chains of the devil and slavery of sin broken through baptism - If you choose to continue in your error, there will be no one to blame on judgment day but yourself.
Baptism is for the remission of sins. Paul was still in his sins before he was baptized. Arise and be baptized and wash away your sins!! 100% proof that Paul was still in his sins before being baptized. Peter taught that baptism is for the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost. Peter also taught that baptism now saves you 1 Peter 3;21 In conjunction with repentance and faith!! Stay clear from false teachers!!
1 Peter 3:21... baptism is an outward symbol of our dedication to Christ; Peter likened this to the saving of Noah and his family. However, it IN AND OF ITSELF does not save us. Only by putting faith in Christ’s shed blood and it’s redeeming value do we obtain salvation.
Wrong! Peter compared baptism to the water that saved Noah and said, “Baptism…now saves you” (1 Peter 3:20-21). Paul compared baptism to circumcision under Mosaic Law and indicated that being “buried with [Christ] in baptism” results in being “forgiven” of all your sins (Colossians 2:11-13). But no one made the relationship between baptism and salvation more clear than Jesus who said, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mark 16:16).
Karen Mize - the Holy Spirit resides in us and seals us the moment that we are saved ie trusted 100% on the Lord Jesus for our salvation. Ephesians 1:13 (KJV) In whom ye also TRUSTED, AFTER that ye heard the word of truth, the GOSPEL of your salvation: in whom also AFTER that ye BELIEVED, ye were SEALED with that HOLY SPIRIT of promise,
The accounts of receiving the Holy Spirit was marked by speaking in other tongues as was recorded in the book of Acts. It is a supernatural birth as the Holy Spirit gives the utterance. Cornelius, being a just and honest man, as was confirmed by the angel who visited him, received the Holy Spirit in like manner as was in the beginning when the apostles received the Holy Spirit at the day of pentecost. Then he and his house wad baptized. That is how 1st century christians did it. Why they change it now?
@@papetmaster2959 Jesus poured out the spirit to them to let them know that he's for real that's why he did that but you have to get baptized I can point it out to you I don't know how many scriptures in the Bible that says so that's called reborn again and you have to do that now not only receive him in your heart you have to get baptized to if you want I can send you the scriptures just let me know
John 3:5 Jesus' own words! Baptism by immersion, by one who has authority is an essential ORDINANCE. See Acts 8 and Acts 19 for the 2nd essential part-- laying on of hands by for the Gift of the Holy Ghost completes the baptism ORDINANCE I so testify. BAPTISM is the Covenant of Salvation and the gate and path to Christ's kingdom. Confessing Christ is good, but Covenanting with Christ demonstrates greater commitment.

Do I take an Advil because I have a headache already? Or do I take an Advil to get a headache? “Be baptized everyone one of you in the name of Jesus Christ FOR the remissions of sins” So be baptized FOR the remissions of sins, why? Because I have already have the forgiveness of sins which is why I should be. I don’t get baptized to be saved. Paul never taught baptism of water. Ephesians 1:7-14 Do we have redemption through water baptism? No it’s through the blood of Jesus where we have the forgiveness of sins. After believing in Jesus, the blood, you are sealed. John 1:7 We been cleansed by the blood for ALL sins 1 Corinthians 1:17 PAUL was NOT SENT to baptize but to preach the gospel. If baptism is necessary for salvation, then he would of preached salvation through baptism throughout all his epistles
Dennis Morris - Of course , it takes 2 mins , but if the person believes in his heart that he will get saved only if he gets immersed in water , then somewhere deep down in his heart puts his faith on baptism. That’s wrong . I am immersed baptised , however until this day I strongly believe that it’s the grace of god that I saved through faith , not my baptism!! Jesus paid it all at the cross for us to get to heaven . If you add anything to it, you indirectly say his sacrifice on cross is insufficient for salvation :) HE PAID IT ALL !! So, It doesn’t matter whether believer went through immersion baptism or infant baptism or confirmation etc... it’s the grace of god that saves him through faith in Jesus:)
Kind of unrelated but still relevant: "Anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ shall be subject to the fires of hell" -Matthew 5:22. We are called to guide others in a respectful manner. Calling people names isn't loving or something Jesus would do. I'm not judging you, but i encourage you to repent and avoid this type of language in the future. After all, people are much less likely to listen if they feel disrespected.
They are false prophets. Jesus made it clear about baptism and salvation. The whole conversation was about salvation that he had with Nicodemus. Jesus brought up baptism and faith in himself. Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. ” “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked. “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven-the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” John 3:3-6, 9-15 NIV Next we have Paul a disciple taught directly by Christ, who even expounds on the matter even more. Showing that the flood in Noah's day was not only a judgement in the day of Noah but a prophecy about those were going to be saved just like Noah. The flood(water stabilizing baptism) came and wiped out all the evil in mankind washing them away, but the rightoues were saved in this act(Noah and his family) bc they put their faith in God and obeyed his Gospel(the ark). Today we are saved by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Bc of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection we too are saved by enacting his death, burial and resurrection through baptism which WASHES AWAY ALL SINS. The blood of Jesus Christ has the power to WIPE OUT THE SINS OF MANKIND. The only way to come in contact with the same water that saved Noah and the blood of Jesus is through baptism. to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also-not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand-with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him. 1 Peter 3:20-22
He was baptized by John as a representative of sinful Israel repenting. In Mt.3:15 Jesus doesnt say “it is right for me to do this” but “it is right for US (Israel) to do this”
There was another purpose associated with John's baptism, and Jesus wanted to do it "to fulfill all righteousness" (Matthew 3:13-15). It was "right" to openly desire identification with the will of God. And, it was at the moment of Jesus' baptism that God openly called Jesus His Son "in Whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:16-17). While Jesus was not baptized "for remission of sins," He was baptized to fill the order of what was right. Jesus felt it would be unrighteous or wrong to not be baptized.
Jesus spoke and said make disciples of all nations, and to baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That physical baptism is the beginning of community life within the Family of God. But He did not say that this was the way to Heaven. If so, the thief on the cross-who would be with Him TODAY in Paradise!- would have had to have undergone physical water baptism first before being able to enter Paradise! But the thief merely gave his life and faith- right then and there- to Jesus. There are many other examples like this in the Bible. The Baptism that occurs which saves us is through Christ Himself, as described in the video. Remember, Jesus was baptized before going forth into the wilderness and the start of His EARTHLY ministry. But His *ultimate* culmination of that ministry was finishing His work on the cross. The physical act we undergo when another Believer baptizes us is but a *reflection* of the Divine Act which Christ Himself accomplishes. Water physical baptism is for the benefit of the Believer to mark the spiritual act with a physical one. It is a physical celebration of a spiritual milestone- the ultimate Milestone of Atonement and Grace.
They are going by the law we are not under the law Jesus made a New covenant with us so you have to be baptized says it all the way through the New testament
Great video, says it all. If you read the book of acts you understand that you will be baptized by the spirit once you believe in your heart in your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After you have a “metanoia” or change of mind and a born again experience, you are baptized by the spirit (dead in your flesh and born of the spirit. Eph 1:13), Baptism by Water is no longer required (Believing by hearing, Acts 10:44). If you dont believe in your savior but yet you are “baptized” in water, congratulations, you just had a bath.
Baptism is a beautiful symbol of death and resurrection, the cleansing of the soul and the betrothal. It is important - just not a prerequisite of salvation. Read up on the ancient Jewish Wedding traditions

Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? We are baptize into Jesus through water baptism. A symbol of washing a way our sins. This is an out word sign we accept Jesus in our heart. Believe he a rose on the third day to take our sins away. Acts 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. Water baptism dose not save people ,Jesus is who give us salvation. Any one can cherry pick the scripture to make it a new belief that is not what the scripter mean. .Because Jesus was baptize in water. Then the Holy spirit came up on him after coming up out of the water. Thief confess to Jesus on the cross of his sin. There was no water for him to be baptize . So Jesus known that invite the thief into paradise .
Because Jesus did it and as Christians we should be aiming to be like him. But it isn’t necessary to be saved. It is something you should want to do and try to do.
Why can't the bible spell it out clearly:anyone who wishes to gain salvation in Christ do these :step 1 ...........step 2...........step 3..........etc etc Saved all the lengthy debates and controversies.
Peter meant it when he wrote that part. After all, he preached repentance, baptism, and receiving the Holy Spirit at pentecost in Jerusalem, when the church was born. Baptism was done and preached in all the world by the apostles because Jesus said so. Baptism in Jesus name = remission of sins. That is the only way.
@@doug1863 Certainly. Peter is comparing the flood having washed away sin with water baptism as the moment in which sins are forgiven and the Holy Spirit imparted. See Acts 2:38, Colossians 2:12 and Mark 16:16. and those are not even all the verses clearly indicating that baptism is far more than a mere symbol when it comes to the process of salvation.
Of course, he totally ignores the fact that Nicodemus was very familiar with both John and Jesus as evidenced by the context. Therefore, he knew full well what water baptism was. And the thief on the cross was saved under the Old Covenant - not the New. Poor John took it on the chin back in 1982 on television, and I see that he hasn't learned a thing.
@@fredrolinners8903 There were the various Jewish cleansing ceremonies which involved water or solutions in which water was the main element. Did this conversation not occur after John the Baptist and the disciples of Jesus had already been baptizing perhaps thousands of people?
@@fredrolinners8903 "Nicodemus would not have known about Christian baptism because it had not yet been instituted." That was not the question. The statement would have concerned whether or not Nicodemus could have possibly understood what "born of water and Spirit" meant. He evidently knew quite a bit about Jesus, including even the miracles He had performed - and recognized him as a teacher sent from God. Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38
This video explains it all. We are not saved by baptism. It is an outward expression of our faith in Jesus Christ and NOT a part of salvation.

Galatians 2:16
“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”
Romans 4:4-8
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that WORKETH NOT, but BELIEVETH on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness WITHOUT WORKS,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

"The thief on the cross proves to us that baptism is not necessary for salvation."
Baptism is part of NT law.
Study.
You are not correct. Baptism is required for the remission of your sins. Authority is also required by those who would perform it.

SPEAKING TO THE MAN IN THE VIDEO:
Concerning your understanding of 1 Corinthians 1, you need to have understanding of the complete context to see that Paul actually teaches that baptism is a part of conversion and salvation.

14. I give thanks unto God that I did not baptize any of you, except for Crispus and Gaius,

16. I also baptized the house of Stephanus, but I do not remember baptizing any other.
17. Christ did not send me to do baptisms, but to preach the gospel;

1 Corinthians 3:4-8
4. For when one says, I am of Apollos, and another says, I am of Paul, is this not evidence of a worldly mindset? (1 Corinthians 1:12-17)
Jesus is our example:
Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River, and then he received the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38 tells us to repent and be baptized, of which we can do when entering the water. If we do this we will receive the Holy Spirit.
If one believes they need to be water baptized today, then they are in jeopardy because they embrace a false gospel.
This
they maintain is the redemption. Other heretics also reject these practices altogether, claiming that the mystery of the unspeakable and invisible power of God should not be
performed by visible and corruptible people. They claim that the knowledge of the unspeakable greatness of God is itself perfect redemption!” - Iranaeus (180 AD)
“He was born and baptized so that by his passion, he could purify us through the waters.” - Ignatius (105 AD)
“I have heard that some teachers maintain that there is no other repentance than that which takes place when we descend into the water and receive remission of our former
sins. Then he said unto me, that was sound doctrine which you heard; For that truly is the case. Because he that has received remission of his sins must not sin any more, but he
must live in purity.” - Hermas (120 AD)
“But there is no other way than this to become acquainted with Christ: To be washed in the fountain spoken of by Isaiah for the remission of sins, and then to live sinless lives.”
- Justin Martyr (160 AD)
“The union of living by the instructions along with baptism is like a mixture of milk and water. The milk allows itself to mix well with the water just as baptism does for the
remission of sins.” - Clement of Alexandria (197 AD)
“Oh how miserable is unbelief that denies unto God his own properties, simplicity and power! What then? Is it not wonderful that death can now be washed away by the sacred
bath?” - Tertullian (198 AD)
“Regeneration did not take place with John the Baptist. However, with Jesus and his disciples it does occur. What is called the bath of regeneration takes place with the
renewal of the spirit. Because the spirit will come; But it does not come unto all that ascend up from the water.” - Origen (228 AD)
“By the bath of regeneration, we were reborn as new born babies.” - Origen (228 AD)
“One is not reborn by the imposition of hands when he receives the holy spirit. Rather, it is through baptism. Therefore, being already reborn through baptism, he is cleansed and
may receive the holy spirit.” - Cyprian (250 AD)
“Just as a heretic may not lawfully ordain or lay on hands, so neither may he baptize. Paul, when after John’s baptism, re-baptized those disciples. So why would we hesitate to
re-baptize those that come in from churches of heresy? - Firmilian (256 AD)
“The baptism of heretics and schematics do not bestow the true one… Therefore, unless one is baptized by the true baptism, one can not be saved, but will be condemned with the
carnal in the judgment of Jesus Christ.” - 7th council of Carthage (256 AD)
“It has been decreed that those who come in from heresy must first be taught according to true doctrine and then be cleansed by baptism.” - Dionysius of Alexandria (262 AD)
“Yet if there is no baptism, there will not be remission of sins. Rather, everyone not baptized will die in their sins.” - Disputes of Archelaus and Manes (320 AD)
Now the only question is, will you choose to continue in your error or will you hear the words of all of these men that were a part of establishing this solid foundation in the beginning of Christianity? If you want to believe all of the modern "scholars" who have been taught and helped perpetuate a false gospel which allows for sin and claims that we are all sinners and always will be, and that do not actually teach that a true Christian must turn from their sin, having had the chains of the devil and slavery of sin broken through baptism - If you choose to continue in your error, there will be no one to blame on judgment day but yourself.
This is perfect. John is spot on here.
Peter also taught that baptism now saves you 1 Peter 3;21
In conjunction with repentance and faith!!
Stay clear from false teachers!!
Luke 3:21 22. Mark 1:9;11 Matt. 3:13 17. Baptism

Many Christians are not even aware of what baptism is about, and those who are aware have little faith in carrying out its meaning.
YESSS, im surprised no one brought this up
The phrase, “shall be saved,” connects the blood of Christ and baptism.
Romans 6:1-7 You must be crucified with Christ to have the blood pay for your sins
Romans 6 is baptism with the Holy Spirit.
Amen!🤗💖☝️

The accounts of receiving the Holy Spirit was marked by speaking in other tongues as was recorded in the book of Acts. It is a supernatural birth as the Holy Spirit gives the utterance. Cornelius, being a just and honest man, as was confirmed by the angel who visited him, received the Holy Spirit in like manner as was in the beginning when the apostles received the Holy Spirit at the day of pentecost. Then he and his house wad baptized. That is how 1st century christians did it. Why they change it now?

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”
John 3:3-6, 9-15 NIV
Next we have Paul a disciple taught directly by Christ, who even expounds on the matter even more.
Jesus is the perfect model to follow , so why he got baptized by John???
In the NAME of the father, son and holy spirit. Be baptized in the NAME and That NAME is JESUS

If Jesus was not baptize in water which is a cleansing of our soul of sin . Our sin will not be forgiven . We were baptize into Jesus. We can not separate the spirit from the water. John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
Why even bother getting baptised if it isn't essential
Because Jesus did it and as Christians we should be aiming to be like him. But it isn’t necessary to be saved. It is something you should want to do and try to do.
