thank you for the hopes :) I listen to this in my very worst times, and still today i came to here, to let all the pain away, still hanging to the bottle, and cannot let it go away for sure, but I hope I can, at least stop falling into this hole again... This song tells 100% the feeling...
I just found this (haven't listened Placebo for long time). This song has touched me deeply. It feels like through this song, someone truly understands what it is like being in relationship with an addict. And because the song is written from addicts perspective, it makes it even more powerful. Addicts are people too, and they can love someone deeply, but the addiction is always "getting in the way". Yes, I'm one of those who have hoped their partner to overcome an addiction, but have been waiting for too long to the detriment of my own well-being. Now, after 11 years and countless "second chances", I'm going to end this relationship.. I can't save him, but I have to save my self.
FlavusFeles Perfectly put! Sometimes you have to cut someone loose or end up destroying your own life by staying. I love songs like this despite how painful they are, Made Of Stone and Fossa by Daughter are also wonderful. I'd certainly check out Daughter, you should love them.
@@milanmiric5534 I think they're just bigger in Europe, right? They tour there all the time, and they haven't touched the US at great length (beyond California and a few other huge cities) since 2014. The Western market just isn't there for them.
Very famous and very much a European band. Every album since '96 reached the top 20 in UK. They still play many international festivals and tour constantly. In 2020 they are working on their latest 8th album, delayed by the pandemic.. Glad you've found them.
Oh , I was looking for that "Placebo are so underrated" comment. No, they are not even close to "underrated". They are famous. Underrated would mean that you never heard of them in your life, hence you wouldn't be here to comment that they are underrated. You would not know they exist.
Hate that people assume the "suck you dry" bit is sexual. Did you not listen to the rest of the song at all? Its about being a burden on someone you love.
Lemon Ste I drank myself into oblivion after my mum died in 1987 and I wrecked friendships and relationships until a friend helped pull me away in 1995...now I just drink Pepsi and Tea! When I first heard this song it destroyed me because I realised it summed up my life at the time. My God, what a truly amazing song.
When you hear this song the first time, a bit rough, a bit ouch. Repeated listening just reminds you that people can be horrible at love, but still love. You see the video. The rough gets even more abrasive. The ouch, a bit more sting to it. And then you realize this song was you, and how rough you made it on others, and how much "ouch" people experienced while loving and caring for you. You feel like you've failed... ...But post-failure, you remember you're still here, lamenting, mourning, putting yourself through hell. And when you check a calendar, you realize it's not then. It's today.
This song goes for my Boyfriend who passed away yesterday... I love you more that any man but something is getting in the way.... Always in my heart German :'( now you left me so alone
Lol, I can’t listen to this song without tears on my face. My ex had sent me this song before we broke up. This song describes our relationships very well. Thank u, Brian. Lyrics are powerful and full of sense. Melancholy perfection.
the look she gives him at like 3:19 - 3:22 along with the words and just everything, it kills me every time. It just encompasses the meaning of the song and entire video in one shot. I've watched it all through a ton of times and have figured out the storyline despite the - genius, but - kinda warped idea of time. And it's fucking heartbreaking. I think it's about a guy who's kind of a burden on his girlfriend, maybe gets drunk a lot, is an alcoholic like Brian is describing in the song (but it's hard to tell due to the rewinding of events) Everything happens in a weird order in this. I guess the version of the story they're trying to tell is that his girlfriend is cheating on him with another woman, who had to hide in the wardrobe, he proposed to his girlfriend and I guess she said no. I think they say "i love you" when he leaves but it's difficult to lip read. He then hears/sees the other woman and his girlfriend closes the door on him. He goes off, gets wasted and generally puts himself in danger. Seems like he gets in an accident through drink driving but then he seems fine after. idk. He gets mugged so the ring is gone, and gets home to see the bed the two women have inevitably shared, yet still he sleeps there. I guess the bit at the beginning of the video is the next morning. Maybe they're going to continue the cycle of destruction in their relationship. The actual order of events is really muddled, it's probably the total opposite, as suggested by the intro. This is incredibly simplified and I know all this seems obvious but just in case someone is as confused as i was at the start and isn't committed enough (kidding) to rewatch it loads, that's the gist of it. It's less about the story though, more about capturing the pain in the song and the characters of the video.
+Lemon Ste you just read my mind. I think he knows he is the matter in their relationship and he tries to get things better after all, but it's just too late. she loves him anyway but she can't take it anymore so she has a lover. he gets back home and see their bed messed up because of the two girls, but he has nowhere to go so he fall asleep in his desperation continuing "the cycle of destruction in their relationship". sorry for my bad english
+Lemon Ste hey, I think you're have a great interpretation of the video as it is presented, your thought that the scenes are not in order got me curious, I'm not quite sure how you perceive the timeline to be ordered though. I am 99% sure that the Bedroom scene (specifically the clips with the 3 actors in) is played in reverse (not reverse order, but rewind) while the rest of the video is straight forward. The most obvious clue is when the mistress "leaves" the closet...BACKWARDS at 4:41, and the reason you can't read his lips is because it's in reverse. it makes the production of this video really beautiful to me. This video makes great use of filming, editing and stereotypes to suggest that the guy is the problem, yet he did nothing wrong. I feel people are more likely to assume that the guy is the problem when in fact, in this situation, it is the girl. So if the bedroom is ordered normally, not rewinded what happens is -Girls are making out on bed, door knob rattles, guy is trying to get in. -Mistress hides in closet, GF stresses out, unlocks door, guy looks in, wonders what was going on. -Intense staring, both are nervous, GF about cheating, guy about his planned proposal, guy starts confessing love or such, holds hands. -Guy proposes, GF like "OMG", feels guilty, starts crying. -Guy realizes GF won't marry him, puts AWAY ring into his wallet, GF apologizes/comforts him. -GF leads him TO bed (guy might've seen mistress here) they lay in bed and cuddle for old times sake, he lays there distraught. (I get the impression she didn't tell him she was cheating, but he saw the mistress and is depressingly aware that the mistress is just feet away or otherwise, just distraught about rejected proposal and doesn't even know about cheating) -In the future, guy is out drinking, trying to move on with girl in red dress, fucks it up somehow, night goes terrible. Returns home where he now lives alone (assumably) and misses his (now ex) GF the way the video is presented, the guy starts out sad, proposes, gets rejected, guy becomes happy and leaves and the GF starts making out with her mistress STRAIGHT AFTER she rejects his proposal and the rest of that emotional moment?!?! she's not that heartless and that doesn't make sense. No, guy starts off happy, proposes, gets rejected, guy is now empty inside, mindlessly follows GF to bed where they lay as a form of comfort to the guy In the beginning, the video editing tells you that the guy is a drunk and a cheat, but obviously that is not the case, the GF is the cheater, so why trust what it says about him being a "drunk loser", the drinking is him trying to cope after the breakup. The video is lying to you, you can't trust how it has been presented. So given this, my interpretation is that the guy got utterly fucked over by the GF, not that she was trying to fuck him over, but she cheated on him, which caused her to reject his proposal, then they surely break up after that, he ends up miserable and alone, she ends up happy, she cheated yet she gets to be happy. He did nothing wrong, but he ends up depressed and alone, hopelessly trying to replace her and drink-coping.
+Thumper8544 I totally agree! You made a lot more sense of it than I did. I was kinda thrown off by the time stuff. I think that as well as that being the intent - maybe convincing the viewer he was the problem, at first - I think the time stuff and repeated cheating scenes are to show how tormented he is over the whole thing, reliving it or imagining what he did not really see (he only saw the mistress as we know). I also think thats why it ended badly with the other girl, he pushes her away or acts badly because he's reliving thoughts of his girlfriend. Having the story backwards this way puts it in perspective, almost shames the girl i thought more really. It was a no brainer to me at the time that the night stuff would be afterwards so I don't think "he's a cheater" and the idea he was a drunk was more me applying the lyrics to the situation.
+Lemon Ste yeah, the bedroom scene is really beautifully done, I cannot imagine the work that went into trying to produce a scene that makes sense/looks right forwards and backwards. it's also scary how easily you assume he cheats just because of that opening shot. The video was timed to the song in such a way to mislead you, this whole video is misleading, it's brilliant :)
My introduction to Placebo was through the movie Cruel Intentions. "Every You Every Me" captured my attention and I was hooked. The Counting Crows' song "colorblind" was also on the soundtrack, and Placebo's "Bosco" brings back the emotions of hearing "Colorblind" for the first time. I had to get each album that first week, and just disappear into the music, Brian's vocals, and lyrics. Placebo is life-changing. Thank you Placebo
"But then i drink it all away" could mean a lot, not just in the literal sense of being an alcoholic. It could mean from an emotional sense, repeating the same behaviours over and over or even from a mental health issue falling back into the "black hole" of depression and making your partner have to go through the emotional roller coaster with the person suffering with depression. It can be just as exhausting for the partner having to deal with the sufferer aswell as the person suffering from depression, hence the term "suck you dry"

Why does such a masterpiece lack the high count views it deserves and other "music" that it's tune and lyrics are pure crap get millions? I just don't get it. Why?! This song is six and a half minutes of pure perfection
You see, It all depends. I am a metalhead since I was 12 and I only discovered Placebo 4 years ago and since then I don't understant why I was so reluctant to even try. But there are lot of people who don't like neither placebo nor thrash metal that I like the most. Which is totally fine, to each their own. Let's just enjoy the music we like and not pay attention to what these petty ones have to say about it. If you like it - enjoy, if you don't - just go and find what you like, Belittling others' tastes is probably the worst one can do... to themselves.
Oh God, this is my healing sog, may God bless Brian Molko, his talent and his voice. I am so drunk right now, I am at home thanks God, but this song heals my brocken heart and has been healing so many fucking times... May the Universe bless Brian Molko and the whole Placebo band. This is my magic pill. May it help everybody who suffers from brocken heart. Stay strong and have hope for tomorrow for there is one. From Russia with love ❤
I love this band so much.Thank you for continuing to create some of my favorite music of all time. True artistry from the lyrics to the music, Placebo is such an amazing band.
@@peterrobb2328 he loved the girl so much, he even proposed to her but she is a lesbian, she doesn't love him so she rejects him, he comes back home depressed and someone assaults him
This song teachs that it doesn't matter if the betrayal is between heterosexual or gay or lesbian , always a betrayal is and it make suffer at the same manner.
this song is so good... unbelievably good ...in a way that can't be described, how soul-crushing, heart-wrenching it is, the delivery, his voice, the words all is mixed in such perfect proportions it is so penetrating and it just so good is for this video, to be honest, lol I mean what is this video ..I kinda yes get it but .. ahhh..
I love this song but being someone who used to be drunk almost every day, it cuts. So glad I don't drink like that these days .. but this song always makes me think of a night at the club with one of my straight male friends and as usual I drank too much and wanted to leave early. I'll never forget how he drove me home and as usual I was crying and just felt so lost in life. While he was driving I just put my head down on his lap (nothing perverted!) and he started running his fingers through my hair and telling me everything would be OK. I then passed out and woke up with him pulling into our driveway and he walked with me to the door to make sure I made it inside before leaving. Best friend I ever had. 🥰
i gave my soulmate the choice. Stop taking the drugs or open the door...get out of the car and walk away. I drove home alone that night. My life has been great since. I just lost my soulmate though.
Well, I've added this song to my playlist like 2-3 days ago, though I'm not a fan of this group or genre (I think because of voice and text). But now, being not understanding and in some kind of constant war with world (people? women?) I just checked youtube and it suggested this. Video (big respect to script writers and directors) shown me a bit of another thoughts (either than text) and I just keep sitting here asking myself like WTF am I supposed to do when I ran out of my resourses and do not understand what is happening around and what I should do... Idk, I'm just sitting here and thinking of deleting all of social networks and sitting home just to avoid any negative emotions. Hope that I and everyone here will be okay.
Addiction is a terribly thing. Molko is an addict and he writes about it a lot. He is an alcoholic. This is what this song is about. It's a beautiful song. But it's very sad. I think he has worked to make amends. But it can never undo the damage he did to others over the years.
Placebo isn't mainstream nowadays, it doesn't fit with all this "fake positive bull*", but they take you back from mainstream. When music mattered. #WMM. Thank you for this portal guys

Piano and violins are wonderful.
Perfectly summarizes pain and happiness at once. Eternal and etheral.
This song makes my heart bleed and I can't help it. But somehow its beauty makes me listen to it over and over and over...
Emotional and Lyrical genius.
BEAUTIFOL .......
This song makes me cry.
One of the hardest songs to bear. How did they capture this feeling like they have.
It's 5 am
And I'm listening to placebo songs
So proud I saw them live
Placebo,is a good band.
As a victim of narcissistic abuse, this song hurts deeply. It seems something my abuser could say to me if only he recognized his behaviours
Mon amour est mort ya 1 an 1/2. .
Such a beautiful and powerful song. But also..can't help but think of an episode of Seinfeld with George and his ATM password lmao.
I love Placebo.
I do love PLACEBO & Brian Molko : great artist. All my respects and all my love for your songs &.your legacy ! ( Friendly from France)
Hard not to cry for even a man of 43.
How is it even possible to create something so beautiful?
Why does such a masterpiece lack the high count views it deserves and other "music" that it's tune and lyrics are pure crap get millions? I just don't get it. Why?!
This song is six and a half minutes of pure perfection
Good Music such as this just is not for the Masses!
Don't concern yourself with what others think enjoy the song for yourself it doesn't need others approval
This is a beautiful song but makes me sad. A real Placebo's song.
Agree
That's the real placebo effect
This voice…💙
Best UK Band ever
Und Depeche Mode
The perfect song to follow begin the end. Two songs I struggle to listen to without welling up
Te amo Mishell
u_u olvidame
This gave me chills. On a deep level I feel understood. We've all known someone or been someone.
And when I get drunk, you take me home and keep me safe from harm.
When I get drunk, you take me home.
Great song!!
I love the video, and the song it's the best of the album. Wonderfull!
One of the most humane song I’ve ever heard.♥️🌹
The first time I saw it I wanted to cry. The music will not get out of my head..
They are both so real- great casting..
Try MTV version. Respect from Israel 🏜👍🔥
What a powerfull, meaningfull, vulnarable, incredible song really!!! I simply adore it but this vid what it has to do with this one lol
This fucking hurts to the core.
yes.
the song was really sad but the video is heartbreaking
I don't understand the video tbh
@@peterrobb2328 he loved the girl so much, he even proposed to her but she is a lesbian, she doesn't love him so she rejects him, he comes back home depressed and someone assaults him
This song teachs that it doesn't matter if the betrayal is between heterosexual or gay or lesbian , always a betrayal is and it make suffer at the same manner.
this song is so good... unbelievably good ...in a way that can't be described, how soul-crushing, heart-wrenching it is, the delivery, his voice, the words all is mixed in such perfect proportions it is so penetrating and it just so good is for this video, to be honest, lol
I mean what is this video ..I kinda yes get it but .. ahhh..
If you're in such a relationship, run. Run for your sanity, run away like you life is at stake, because it is.
Narcissistic abusive relationship
Never knew that I will listen this song thinking of him. I'll will always love you
absolutely beautiful/ underrated band / Love Placebo
ESTA MUSICA NO ES PARA CUALQUIERA , DEDICA MUCHO TALENTO Y ARTE .
another beautiful picture of imperfect love. I love you always Placebo xxxx
10 years of marriage. 4 kids. And this song has been ghosting me all of those years... 💔 the pain is real
Fukin brilliant
Nice to meet yall...I'm Bosco.
At least for a while.
What a song what a sound what a voice ❤❤❤
i gave my soulmate the choice. Stop taking the drugs or open the door...get out of the car and walk away.
I drove home alone that night. My life has been great since. I just lost my soulmate though.
this too shall pass..
Marita Levonian nice...youve got a bit of an artistic vibe about you.
thank you :) well im studying graphic design and i like anything related to art :)
sorry i can't win with opiates.
Damn. Lived a similar situation, except he didn't want to decide, and I had to do it for both. So I left the man I've loved the most.
Perfect song
Bienvenido a placebo world jeje...
Addiction is a terribly thing. Molko is an addict and he writes about it a lot. He is an alcoholic. This is what this song is about. It's a beautiful song. But it's very sad. I think he has worked to make amends. But it can never undo the damage he did to others over the years.
An anthem! Top shelf 👏 👏 👏
Yeah, i love this group of individuals playing there music snd hitting a hard gor in me. Thankyou

Fred tu me manques tant
The best of album
stunning track from a band than never fail to deliver
Placebo isn't mainstream nowadays, it doesn't fit with all this "fake positive bull*", but they take you back from mainstream. When music mattered. #WMM. Thank you for this portal guys
Pure, pure so pure... just pure...
The girl with curled hair is Mazuka's daughter in Dexter ;-)
