The last time raises came out we finished 5 cents above min wage. Min wage up again Oct 1. Guess what? They were trying to keep new people there, now I am making min wage ...again. Yes I can look for other work and probably make more per hour in less than year. Where else do I gwt the hours I need and want?

The money going into the first has stagnated for 40 years while the latter has skyrocketed exponentially. The same $10mil profit bonus going to 1,000 employees instead of 10 executives doesn't cost consumers money.
Increase worker productivity to pay the higher wages. Productivity has declined because companies hire cheap labour instead of investing in technology and processes to increase productivity.

We have a 9% unemployment rate in Edmonton. I have sent out literally thousands of resumes and specified cover cover letters in multiple fields. Almost no responses at all. I'm in my 30's, have university education and tons of experience. Cheap foreign labour is completely replacing me as a Canadian
It means I will be able to order coffee and a burger from a younger person who was born in Canada and speaks proper english. And I will be able to find a place to rent. And wages will become more competitive. I don’t believe for a minute there is a labour shortage. Wages have not kept up with cost of living and hiring outside of Canada just puts downward pressure on wages.
These shortages are a myth. Finding employment has always been challenging regardless of industry. Immigration is nothing more than a tool to keep labor costs low. There's a saying about learning from history. An excellent example is Europe post the Black Plague (bubonic plague). There was labour shortage. Wages wet up. More people could afford higher end goods. Profits went up for merchants. As it stands now, there's only so many jobs and too many people. Bringing more people just means the jobs available get spread even more thinly, wages go down because people will work for little because that's all they can get , prices go up because of demand. In effect, mass immigration results in a whole lot of people working for very little, including the immigrants themselves. The only ones this helps is big business. People can't afford the prices smaller shops have to charge to stay afloat, while the bigger chain style stores can afford to stay open. They pay their staff little, so all they can realistically afford is too shop at the type of store they work in. It's the modern version of the old company store.

Like these cheap labour is really doing a good job... probably used less nails/ screws/ cheapen the cement compound, etc.... would never buy anything that was built in the last 10 years. can we all say leaking building.... if they are lucky for leaks as pose to foundation problems
