Custom Ink is usually that first comparison because they have the online quote form and typically appear at the top of google for those "custom t-shirt printing" keywords. Having that be visible can be a good thing and a bad thing: Good if you can beat their pricing, helping you win on your quotes, but if a customer is trying to drive your price down (sometimes not selecting the exact blank on custom ink)- you're right, in many cases its better to say "no".
We do have a "suggested retail pricing" chart you can use to help quickly figure out what to charge your customer for each print depending on print method.
