Taemin always has only the very best dancers with him no matter if it's Korean or Japanese team. His dancers need to be able to keep up with Taemin and also to project the mood of the song with their expressions, etc.
The MV tells a whole story very much in the vein of great South Korean cinema in which life is full of pain, people are deeply flawed and there are no happy endings. Superb.
Taemin has talked about the literature that inspired this concept: Erotism: Death and Sensuality by Georges Bataille and Demian by Hermann Hesse. The fans are also seeing influences from Lord of the Flies. But the director said that his sole inspiration for the MV was Demian. Love that Taemin decided to do things his own way with his own colors. I don't see anyone else doing this concept, or even the way in which he does it. Just stunning! Great reaction, thanks for giving so much love to his work
This week has a ton of comebacks. I will go back and watch his older stuff at a later date. I tend to do deep dives on artists when music releases are slow. I've added Taemin to the list. I have not watched or listened to any of his solo works until I started my UA-cam channel last September.
Taemin himself said the mv is about a toxic love but I think it goes deeper. Some of the shots lead me to believe that he has incorporated his time in the military in this. He had a rough time but never spoke up about it until they decided he wasn't fit for duty and was placed in public service work. He had lot of anxiety (I think it shows with the inhalor and the selfharm shot on his leg) The bunkbeds of the 'school' and the good memories and fun fading into nothingness, could be related to that as well. The controlling and manipulating of him and how he dances next to the car by himself at first, could reflect him slowly going crazy there. But that's just my take on it. I'm sure he will drop behind the scenes video's in the upcoming days. Whatever he meant with the mv, the king is back and what a comeback it is.
I 've waited smb's comment like yours. The music and voice are great, but the lyrics and videos make me think that the song is not about toxic love but toxic relations in the military. Taemin was roughly subjected to bullying when he was in the service. He never said about this and it's understandable that he needed to speak out. Love Taemin.

Lord of the Flies! I had a sense of that too. Thank you for watching!
Check Criminal, IDEA, and Want by Taemin, those are kinda dark concept.

Thats also something i thought about (toxic love). I like these videos that good deep into the mind or emotional state of the artists!
