Great stuff, Hellhades. I recently pulled some really good Clan Boss mobs and am in the middle of creating a new composition to take me beyond a 3 key brutal. Ive had Rearguard Sergeant for a long time as my dungeon tank/support and she has felt like a minor role in my Clan Boss teams. After watching your take on her, I may try and keep her as a primary member of the CB team. Just gotta work out who to move in and out of the team now!

Great series. I’ve actually just finished Aina for this role, got her in relentless gear. She’s actually performing quite well, and the extra turns can increase the amount of time her debuffs are up. Main issue is being attack based. Then i fused rhazin soon after. Doh
What do you think about pairing Ghostborn with Grizzled Jarl? Unresistable Decrease Def with Increase Attack on GB and on Griz Decrease Attack and Increase DEF. I've been having problems gearing Rearguard Sergeant. Only concentrating on Def, speed, and Acc she still seems to drop early.

awesome video, I'm using stagknight coz he has dec def AND dec attack but hes not in your video. maybe hes a newer champ, but he is awesome when fully booked. using high accuracy gear and he hardly ever fails to drop dec def or dec atk, plus when he or any other champ misses he has a passive skill that tops up their accuracy for the next turn.
Well done. Another useful video. Under Madame Serris you mark/gread her role as Atk- presumably becasue her damage is based on atk- however if you look at her stats Her atk is low and her Defense is decent as well as hp... Did you grade her as intended?

Hellhades, absolutely love the series I've almost watched every video you've published. I'm also a math / excel nerd so really enjoy the theorycrafting (10 year WoW vet here). Stuck with team comp on NM. Right now using Doompriest (cleanse, heal) / Tayrel (lead, def down / atk down) / Rhazin (def down / weaken) / Occult B. / Skullcrusher. Your videos really makes me want to work in Rearguard or Jareg (replace Tayrel) and Thenasil (replace doompriest, no stellskull) but worried the loss of Tayrel aura is impactful. Am I being thick headed or an overthinker? Keep up the good work man!!!!

I've recently ranked up and included Tomb Lord in my Clan Boss team, He doesn't have much uptime on Defense down, but with Attack Down, a bit of Poison and a 3-hit A1 for Giant Slayer means he's pulling his weight for the time being. He's also great for Arena and Spiders, multiple uses for each 60 is important as I've only got 4 so far. (36 days into the game) I'm low on lifesteal gear so mine's actually in a Relentless set, which means he gets a few extra turns in and can be a real machinegun with the turn meter on debuff expire mastery.
Great video! Just started building my Rearguard because everyone says she's amazing. Actually have 2 of her so that's even better lol Question: I know Vizier is a great CB champion because his A1 is 3 hit with chance to extend all debuffs. Unfortunately I don't have him. I do, however, have Septimus. His passive gives him a 30% chance to extend debuffs anytime he attacks an enemy. I've got him in some relentless gear so he has a chance of taking multiple turns to maximize that effect, but I can't get the debuff extension to activate often enough. What accuracy would you recommend for someone who doesn't really have endgame gear? I'm really hoping to get him going with Nethril, and I feel like he could be a really good option for CB. Especially because one of his attacks does damage based on Max HP Edit: important to note, as of right now, I'm focusing on hard, with a stab at brutal every now and then
I was lucky enough to get Jareg, Rear Guard Sergeant and Skull Crusher in the recent summoning boost but currently I only use Jareg in clan boss. From your videos on clan boss I get the feeling these three are absolutely indispensable for high damage. I am a new player, no masteries beyond tier 2 so is this composition still the best for me? Currently I use Bulwark lead, Kael, Juliana, Jareg and Apothecary. Thx in advance..
It used to take me a 25min run on NM to get 16 million damage, now my runs are around 16 mins for 22 to 25mill damage. The only thing that changed on my team has been speed. Once I got my entire team over 171 speed my damage went way up and my run time went down becuase I lost some def and hp for speed. Where do you farm your resistance gear NM campaign or IG?

Would you say Krisk alone is reliable enough to do both def down & atk down? or should he be supplemented with another character that does both like rearguard / serris
I dont have and the feedback I get is that debuff drops off and isnt being reapplied. So if you have vizier the answer is he is the best champ in the game for this. If you dont he doesnt help you
@@HellHades I use Krisk in my NM clan boss team however if you want to use him for def down/attack down then you must run a debuff extender otherwise it will drop off after the stun attack (if he is not the target). With a debuff extender he is amazing in this role as he also brings ally protection, speed, and buff extension. He has so much utility that he basically frees up a slot in your clan boss team for someone else.
What you think about Baron for dec def? i also have madame serris which one i should use of this 2? rest of my team atm steelskull apothecary jareg and bulwark
About to finish up fusion on rhazin and was fortunate to pull draco, benefit from using both? My CB comp currently is occult, draco, vrask, bogwalker, apothecary, just subbed in bogwalker for lanakis. Hitting brutal and nightmare currently
I’m not even close to understanding the graph at 3:55. If the green line is base hit then why is it higher on the graph than the others? And why is the weaken only line higher at UNM than the decrease defense and the double buff combo? I’m severely misunderstanding and can’t figure it out, either that or the line colors are inverted.
If the green line shows the highest damage, shouldn't that be for CB under both defuffs (Weaken & Dec DEF)? The table would also suggest Weaken chart is the red line, not the yellow. I would also love to see the numbers you've mentioned, the ones suggesting that after Brutal, Dec DEF worths more than Poison :) For UNM, damage under Weaken is +25% compared to base hit; damage under dec Def is +56% compared to base hit; and damage under both debuffs is +95% ... that's 25%+56%+14%, just because both buffs are on simultaneously...? This might be a reason for some of us to focus on having both buffs on the team, plus deploying them at the same time Would be interesting to see if something similar happens when we combine in defence a shield with an increase Def buff

Idk if Jareg + Rearguard (for Decrease def and attack) with Steelskull is not too much ally protect ? I don't have so many champ so it's hard. You never mentioned Venus' HP Burn under "Other Utility" like you did the poison. Wouldn't her HP Burn give her another point or 2 under that category?
If you are involved with raid-codex tell them to look at their filter terms. When I filter for '60% decrease def' one of the options is Vulpine the uncommon, the text in his A1 says "Has a 60% chance of placing a 30% [Decrease DEF] debuff for 2 turns." It is finding '60' and 'decrease def' in the same string but it needs to be adjacent text.
Is there a reason you excluded Dark Athel? She may not be a high scorer, but she's at least available to everyone through login rewards and has the A2 decrease speed ability.
I was going say what about bloodgorged ( Legendary champ) a 55% non booked and 75% full book for 60 percent Decrease Def on his A1 and what defiled sinner a (epic champion)who has a 50% chance to place a 60% before he even attacks also on A1. And warmaiden (rare champion) who has a 75% non book and 100% full book to do a 60 percent Decrease Def on A3
Great as always! I think you should give Sorceress and Avenger 5pts for "ease to book" since they can be farmed o duplicate book instead of needing rare books. That makes a difference for newer players. (although those stages are not ideal to farm)
@@pleasedont7439 ahh yeah, that is true. Was different times. But ye lifesteal and speed are good to farm. But I did say Avenger was farmable, so I don't see why you corrected that, is what I meant. but half of the point still stands as farming the stage for sorceress is not ideal lol
What about Jarang? He's an Epic Lizardman, his A3 attacks 3 times at random, with each hit having a 50% chance (up to 75% when booked) to put Def Down AND Atk Down.
You had foli rated decently but he's definitely unm worthy, especially in a comp (with an admittedly strong champ himself) with Longbeard. Aside from the 100% uptime, his damage is great. 8+mil ceiling on unm.
Rearguard sergeant’s aura is only good for force champions. I’ve heard you mention her aura several times as quite good, but I think you’re missing that factor. Otherwise, great video as always
Also curious why ghostborn isn’t on the list with 100% uptime on def down. Granted his a2 is not good for cb, a3 isn’t terrible, and his defense is terrible.
I love this series!! I've added 10 mil damage just by following some of the things in your vids... can you make a video addressing HP burn in CB ??? Is it worth it?? If so when.... is poison way better ect... Thanks again man your putting out some great stuff here!!!
@Carter Williwams when you talk about avarage you must have in your hands some research that you can show me. There is no average in rng you can get 3 gs procs every turn and not even one for wm .
@Carter Williwams my man yeah i know about the stats and all that. Could you actually explain to me why my razin before beeing mastered did 5 mil on NM and after he's mastered did 9 to 10 mil while any of my other team members who had WM had an increase to dmg about 2 mil ?
You don't like Foli do you ;) he's pretty decent in a CA team and you forgot about his leech as an extra utility. Also the 4 hits are great to keep him on high hp since he is very likely to get one or more GS hits on every attack.
I disagree a little with the rank you have given marked, she is not a god that I understand but when you're free to play marked is the only sub for grizzled and clears the stun. i use her in nightmare to 2 key the boss

I have a vizier on my cb team, would you suggest using tayrel or rearguard seargent? my tayrel is fully booked and rearguard is not. Also ive been using tayrel as lead. i just got a skull crusher that im working on too, he has the ally protect. let me know what you think thanks!
Another awesome video, mate. Loving the series! Just three small additional points that are worth making for viewers: Firstly, if you don't have a dedicated healer and are relying on Lifesteal then weaken and defence down become even more important as they will significantly increase the size of the heal you get from WM/GS procs, giving you much more survivability. Secondly - up time. As you've already mentioned, it's pretty easy to out-speed the boss so you can easily get three turns in to the boss' two in Brutal and below. This means champions like Warmaiden in practice have 100% uptime if you're talking about early game options. And thirdly, a small but important point about Marked is that you can use her on the Spirit CB to clear the decrease speed depbuff and preserve your counterattack rotation (especially important if you use Skullcrusher who will cleanse the debuff on himself and overtake the rest of your team...). I know you've touched on this but it's definitely worth flagging up again as she can actually be invaluable in this role even in late game if you don't have someone like Griz or Maus Mage.
Dude you should do Steelskull instead of Rearguard and use Tayrel for dec attack and defense, and then use valk for counterattack. If you have Tayrel you don't really need another person for dec atk/def and Steelskull's a1 synergises well with counterattack.
HH has a 2 part takeover but I can't remember the name of who it was that he goes over septimus in the second video. That's the one I used for my septimus.

What about Jarang? He's an Epic Lizardman, his A3 attacks 3 times at random, with each hit having a 50% chance (up to 75% when booked) to put Def Down AND Atk Down.

You had foli rated decently but he's definitely unm worthy, especially in a comp (with an admittedly strong champ himself) with Longbeard. Aside from the 100% uptime, his damage is great. 8+mil ceiling on unm.
Rearguard sergeant’s aura is only good for force champions. I’ve heard you mention her aura several times as quite good, but I think you’re missing that factor. Otherwise, great video as always

Also curious why ghostborn isn’t on the list with 100% uptime on def down. Granted his a2 is not good for cb, a3 isn’t terrible, and his defense is terrible.

I love this series!! I've added 10 mil damage just by following some of the things in your vids... can you make a video addressing HP burn in CB ??? Is it worth it?? If so when.... is poison way better ect...

There is no average in rng you can get 3 gs procs every turn and not even one for wm .

You don't like Foli do you ;) he's pretty decent in a CA team and you forgot about his leech as an extra utility. Also the 4 hits are great to keep him on high hp since he is very likely to get one or more GS hits on every attack.
I disagree a little with the rank you have given marked, she is not a god that I understand but when you're free to play marked is the only sub for grizzled and clears the stun. i use her in nightmare to 2 key the boss
I managed to pull Rear Guard Sergeant early and she has been in almost all my teams.

I have a vizier on my cb team, would you suggest using tayrel or rearguard seargent? my tayrel is fully booked and rearguard is not. Also ive been using tayrel as lead. i just got a skull crusher that im working on too, he has the ally protect. let me know what you think thanks!

Just three small additional points that are worth making for viewers:
Firstly, if you don't have a dedicated healer and are relying on Lifesteal then weaken and defence down become even more important as they will significantly increase the size of the heal you get from WM/GS procs, giving you much more survivability.
Secondly - up time. As you've already mentioned, it's pretty easy to out-speed the boss so you can easily get three turns in to the boss' two in Brutal and below. This means champions like Warmaiden in practice have 100% uptime if you're talking about early game options.
And thirdly, a small but important point about Marked is that you can use her on the Spirit CB to clear the decrease speed depbuff and preserve your counterattack rotation (especially important if you use Skullcrusher who will cleanse the debuff on himself and overtake the rest of your team...). I know you've touched on this but it's definitely worth flagging up again as she can actually be invaluable in this role even in late game if you don't have someone like Griz or Maus Mage.

i feel you. did the same thing myself. but rhazin has weaken and can remove buff too. so i am not too sad.
Rhazin is usable nearly everywhere in the game. So anyone who has him, should be fully booking him up regardless of who they have.
All I need is a good defense down champ and I used my last rhazin fusion champ magus on accident over a month and am still waiting for another...
Is it worth having both Tayrel and Rearguard (for dec def and dec att) in CA team comp, with valk (or SC), Occult brawler (or steelskull) and Rhazin?
Dude you should do Steelskull instead of Rearguard and use Tayrel for dec attack and defense, and then use valk for counterattack. If you have Tayrel you don't really need another person for dec atk/def and Steelskull's a1 synergises well with counterattack.

HH has a 2 part takeover but I can't remember the name of who it was that he goes over septimus in the second video. That's the one I used for my septimus.
