I wouldn't completely avoid this side hustle, if we had more time and lived in a bigger city where more items were available, we could have made it work. What do you think?
In my experience, it's been good for getting some quick cash selling old items that I already have. I've also had some luck selling second hand items I've found in the trash, second hand stores, or the occasional free item on marketplace. So, I think its a side hustle worth doing when you need some extra cash (not always quick) but I wouldn't say its a side hustle that's going to make you rich on its own.
I think possibly yes to what you said maybe in good time those items may of sold but it's time consuming plus like anything people need to want it and I feel some of those items are harder to sell because they get handed down their not like in the, in market as it where that's just my opinion
I flip liquidated and auction items and have been making it work my margins aren't insane and there is overhead costs cause i store the items at a storage unit (no space in my small apartment) but there's definitely money to be made, especially once you get photos and posting outta the way.
I’ve made around $6,000 flipping on marketplace you’ve got to study the marketplace are see what things are going for and don’t buy if it’s not a steal of a deal also higher value items are better
Can you elaborate on how to study the marketplace? I know you have to see what's selling and what not, and look at sold items, but what do you do with that given information?
I have had good luck selling woodworking tools. There are some great auctions around me, where I pay sometimes 10% or less of a tool’s value, and sell for 50-75% of its value. Recently, I paid $15 for 3 tools, of which I’ve sold 2 of them so far for $60. The trick is to not buy your target items at their specific sales. I buy woodworking tools cheap at farm machinery auctions, because most of the time, people aren’t at a machinery auction to buy woodworking equipment, and don’t know it’s value. Also, I recently bought 2 table saw accessories worth a combined $750 for $8. No joke. One is missing a few bolts, but those are easy enough to replace. Otherwise, they’re in great condition. But, as I said, they are from a farm machinery auction, where people aren’t looking to buy woodworking tools. I think there is money to be made with a specific strategy, and if you won’t be disappointed keeping the items if they don’t sell. After all, I have a woodworking business, so I can use these tools if they don’t sell. Just my 2 cents. 🤷♂️
That’s great insight. Deffo profit to be made fixing broken items and selling them on. That’s one of the points on our best items to flip guide in TESTED+.
I gain nothing by saying this but you can make money flipping items on FB marketplace, just not any item. I used to up to last year, to buy iphone x, get them cheap since they had been on the marketplace for ever, clean them, change the battery and resell for at least 50 quid in profit, same with laptops. Wanted items can definetely work. You can't make a living but you can make some money occasionally.
My new side hustle: subscribed to Charlie because his tiktoks rocked and now hoping he will choose me as one of the lucky subscribers who get all the money he makes from actual side hustle.
Depends on what you’re selling on Marketplace. I’ve sold over 1500 items on there in a year & a half. I sell mostly plus size Womens clothes. Hint: Women shop a lot.
From my experience, you need to sell things that not only sell often but also sell high. Electronics are a very good example, especially video games. Wii games right now are perfect. Because people dont know the value and will sell them but you can flip them for decent prices. Video games have been my flipping items of choice and I’ve made ~500 in 3 months. Not great, but I don’t put much time in. PS Loved the quality of the video, I just subscribed.
Ill try and be helpful. I believe it really depends where you live but i make about 250 to 500 a week flipping. I buy tvs people sell for 10 and sell for 60+. They usually sell within 2 days since i dont put them at high price. Its about getting an item you would want yourself for a decent price. But instead of keeping it you sell it. Hope this helps.
Money can be made, need to weigh up every individual’s value of an hour. You have plenty of money and I imagine not much time - so if someone came to your house and took your old stuff away you didn’t need anymore - you’d probably be ok with that - save you time - that stuff has value and if the person taking it can extract that, it’s all good. Just have to find the items.
Fantastic Tested video again 👏 this released at a good time because my friend approached me recently about this side hustle idea, definitely going to share this!
Brilliant episode, I've used Facebook marketplace to sell the stuff I already have and have had more luck on there than eBay, really looking forward to your next side hustle test
@@charlie_lawrance yes! I honestly can't wait, already doing the usertesting one and granted I don't do much on it but in a couple weeks (including waiting for my first test to be confirmed I'm on $48 dollars, not bad for very little time spent on them 😁
Hey absolutely love your videos! Have been following you for a while now since I’ve found you on tiktok. I tried out the user testing and I’ve had a lot of issues with it. I’ve had it since you posted your video about it and have only made 4 dollars. My issue is that I’m getting absolutely no test available. Should I delete my account and make a new one? Or how would you recommend fixing it?
That's a shame, Have you tried connecting with support on their website? Are you getting no tests at all? or just not qualifying for tests when taking the screener?
The videos are not only super helpful, but they also are amazing! The quality of the videos is INSANE, super entertaining and really fun! And you also learn something! I really appreciate your work. I started in User Testing and since I live in a third world country I don't get many tests but at least is something extra and its really helpful. Thank you a lot Charlie, keep it up!
Cleaning didn’t cost anything and petrol was minimal. On a larger scale if you were to try this for more than a week, petrol would definitely be an on-going cost to measure.
Good video but I think you hit it from the wrong angle, you should of tried to get furniture quick cycle or clean and flip , would maybe of been more successful
I used to flip items on FB and I made some extra money doing so. However, almost none of my listings got ACTUAL attention until a week or two weeks after posting it. Also, those items you got are not really big sellers except for those tennis balls. If you make another video for this side hustle, try flipping electronics. For example, laptops, gaming consoles, phones, headphones, smart watches, etc... Youre gonna have to spend some money there but the profit is pretty good on all of those.
@@charlie_lawrance try looking for high prices where the item was originally sold, not too high where it’s obvious. and when you list it, write “_% Discount OFF”. and add photos of where you found the original price. it’ll make people think they’re getting a good deal.
Like someone said, you need to sell videogames!! There are other items that sell really well, but none of them are stuff that you were selling.. anyway, videogames did great for me. Cheers
@@charlie_lawrance not even that just the different background you gave on marketplaces, there are like 10+ different settings you made this video in and it is engaging the entire time lol... it nots just a sit there with your face talking the entire time.. really well done

did you "market" them , like post the pram inn a mommy gorup , or post the golfballs in a golf group?
