Cool note about Chapter 7, Black Bull and Blood Falcon are programmed to come 1st and 2nd. A viable strategy is just to kill them at some point in the race so that they can't win.
I'm pretty sure that's wrong. That said, they usually end up getting 1st and 2nd anyway because they both have 200 energy instead of the regular 100. This is why it's nearly impossible to stay ahead of them, because they can just boost more than you can. And the Black Bull is also an amazing machine, but mostly the 200 energy.
EDIT: This video itself actually disproves that, funnily enough. When Coney beat Chapter 7 the Skull had actually taken 1st place from Black Shadow. That isn't particularly uncommon either, playing Chapter 7 myself and watching others play it the Sonic Phantom tends to get ahead due to being a strong machine.
They aren't programmed to come in 1st and 2nd but they are buffed. They have more health and better engine/boost then normal making them almost always come in 1st/2nd.
Also after lap 3 on hard/very hard their a.i. changes and will start spin attacking you at every single moment they can.
Between F-Zero 99 and Coney playing this, I actually found and bought a copy of GX for like £45, surprisingly cheap for a 20 year old game. I'll be sure to use this vid as a guide for what not to do XD

love that this game is basically "being surpassed at the last second genuenly not knowing who the character is" the game. also prioritise the grand prix over the story missions because that's where most of the content is, also the story missions are more like tests for veterans.

Maybe they never made another F-Zero game is because they thought they hit the peak of the IP’s fiction when Lord Death, Grand Prix Champion of the Underworld l, challenged Captain Falcon to a race.
I thought it was because of the earth-shattering revelation that Deathborne AKA Lord Death reveals to Falcon in Chapter 8 that SPOILERS the universal energies of dark and light are contained within their respective belts, and after the audience has recovered from that, God himselves appear and reveal to Falcon the hideous truth, that actually no that was just a funny joke Deathborne AKA Lord Death was telling him, altering the path of the canon timeline forever and knocking the audience on their backs, pulling the rug out from under them by subverting a fundamental belief about the secrets of the game's universe they held for all of 2 minutes.

Coney I can give you a LEGITIMATE TIP for beating chapter 5 Save Jody on VERY HARD. You go into the controls on the main menu... And it will allow you to adjust controls. Switch your tilt Right and tilt Left from R and L to left and right on the control stick... This will cause you to go super straight down that tunnel while making micro adjustments very easily.
Also, Hyper Speeder is the best machine.........................*ehem* my opinion... Sue me..

@@kricku in Save Jody(chapter 5) you don't need to turn at all. At least if you do it this way... By switching L and R with right and left on the control stick you can just use the control stick to complete the entire level without turning... only leaning... Also boosting constantly(like mash that Y button)is important aside from the final 2-3 possible boosts at the end you might want to space out slightly.

@@kricku mucking the controls specifically for this one chapter allows for very fine adjustments. If you think you can do it with just using the triggers... More power to ya. It just helped me

Zoda has been a mainstay of the F-Zero series starring with F-Zero X on N64 in 1998 all the way to F-Zero Climax on GBA in 2004.
(Side note, in F-Zero Climax, Once the player has 100% the Grand Prix mode on all four difficulties and all five cups, you unlock 1/3 unique secondary pilots one of them being Hyper Zoda. Who also appears in the F-Zero GP Legend anime)
Zoda's machine stats offer higher risk for higher reward and are a fun choice for players seeking the risk of low HP for high max speed.
Just a word of warning: the letter grades are a lie in GX. The graph showing the stat spread is a better indicator of the stats of a machine on that game.

Yeah I'm aware of that I was more so talking about every other entry.
GX is one of those weird Black Sheep type of installments where again franchise is known for something but then suddenly breaks down what it originally created.
But yes you are correct the stats in GX are misleading and I've just grown so used to it at this point I often forget to remind myself. Thank you for the reminder I do appreciate it. Always good to run into a fellow fan of this criminally underrated series.😁

Lowkey, as someone who got back into doing this games chapters on Very Hard, Coney is playing pretty well for his first time. BUT GOD HELP HIM if he ever tries Very hard, as game when it gets to Very Hard enters "I Don't Care About Your Feelings" Mode. I've done over half of Story Mode on Very Hard and Chapters 5, 7, 8, and 9 STILL kick my ass, those chapters are completely insane on max difficulty
If you can do Ch. 1 on max difficulty, you can do 8 and 9 :)
Bro I did chapter 1 after about 3 hours worth of tries. 9 is probably the easiest one left to do, but 8 you gotta play super aggressive to keep up with Deathborn, he's brutal. Though 7 and 5 are gonna suck

Technically they're not new, they're the characters from the arcade version, AX. You actually can circumvent the unlocking criteria if you find an AX machine in your region and plug your memory card into it, kinda neat, but AX machines are crazy hard to find so not an easy workaround

Only then can you truly move on.” I think Coney proved that statement true here. Only after smashing the Blue Falcon into the door and walking off camera in defeat was he able to beat the challenge.

Not most of them, there’s only like 12 you can only unlock from very hard. The rest you can buy with credits.

@@MsCerealCat Sooooooooo I was playing Pokemon blue version the other day and was fighting one of the lesser trainers in the poison ninja gym, I just beat his arbok with mew's psychic (I named mew lil giegue), and then he sends out Sandslash, so I send out my Vaporeon, now the reason I did this is because on a chemical level, vaporeon is cooler than sandslash. Allow me to explain the science behind my hypothesis. In chemistry specific heat is the amount of energy required for one kilogram of a substance to be raised one degree Celsius. Now water's specific heat requires that it absorbs about 4200 joules or one kilocalorie(one nutritional Calorie) for one kilogram of water to be raised one degree Celsius, now sand is a heterogeneous mixture, however around %80 of sand is composed of the element silicon, silicon has a specific heat of 710. So it takes waayyy more energy to heat water to the same temperature as sand, water is also a liquid on most places on earth, which means its particles can move around and disperse energy more easily to cool down faster. This is why sand at the beach is hotter and the water is cooler. So basically vaporeon is made of water and everyone knows it so vaporeon is like water, and sandslash has sand in the name, and it is also ground type, the ground is sometimes made out of sand in some areas, also Sandslash can learn the move slash, and also sand attack, so it is safe to assume that to the same extent that Sandslash can slash, that it is also sand, so we can say that Sandslash is like sand. Putting this information together we can deduce that vaporeon is like water and sandslash is like sand, and by extension, that vaporeon is cooler than sandslash. Now Pokemon is sometimes like an anime sometimes, but in this particular battle, I had battle animations turned on, the root word of anime is animation, so at this particular moment Pokemon was like anime and in anime, mostly the cooler guys win. This is what I was thinking in my head when I switched from my mew to my vaporeon against Sandslash of the enemy. The enemy Sandslash got one free turn because I used my turn to switch, so sandslash gets like a bonus turn, and it used a slash attack which has a higher critical chance, and! It got a critical hit on my vaporeon! It wasn't good but it took like half of its vitality HP. Next turn! My Vaporeon out-fasted the enemy Sandslash, so it gets to first this time, I told it to use surf because surf is like the best water move probably. BUT THE SANDSLASH SURVIVED BY A SLIVER! SANDSLASH TURN IT IS NOW!! CRITICAL HIT SLASH AGAIN!!! VAPREON IS UNCONSCIOUS NOW!!!! It was rediculius because of all the science and logic I just used to prove beforehand why I should have one. However looking back now there might have been 2 reasons number 1 is even though in the animes the cooler guys win, it is known that guys with yellow hair also win a lot in the animes, needlessly to say the power of anime betrayed me . Sandslash has yellow hair I think Soo yeah. Number second reason is my vaporeon was level 27 but the Sandslash was level 33, in the Pokedex, Sandshrew, which is baby Sandslash is the 27th Pokemon numerically and numerically Eevee is number 133, but which is 33 plus 100. Now what is special about 100 is that that is the number of Voltorb, which is electrical, what is also electrical is the Pokemon "charjabug" introduced in Pokemon sun and moon, in a week which is 7 days, and in seven days the sun comes and goes seven times so that's why we call Pokemon from that game "gen 7 Pokemon" so anyways charjabug knows how to use the "volt switch" technique which attacks but also switches to a different pokemon, so if we cancel out the 100 of Voltorb out of 133 of Eevee, we get 33 which is the level of the enemy Sandslash, and my VAPREON was level 27 which is the number of Sandshrew, so that plus Voltorb's relation to electricity and by extension charjabug and its "volt switch" technique we can hypothesize that the "coolness" got mixed around especially because vaporeon is from Eevee, which has unstable DNA, and it was sent out just after mew, which has all the Pokemon DNA inside it, so it becomes obvious that this is what happened, and that the Sandslash I was fighting was also super Saiyan Naruto from the animes, But really I should have won
this really is the kaizo platform of razing games. winning the rtace is the least of your concerns in f-zero

Wait... Cosmo Terminal is hard according to some of these people? O_o It's practically a straight line apart from the huge drop. Honestly, I find the Sapphire and Emerald cups to be harder than the Diamond Cup, exception being Phantom Road Slim Line Slits, but even then that track's main difficulty is dealing with the bullshit cheating AI.
Cosmo Terminal Trident: Literally just a straight line, as long as you're not trying to death race this one it's easy. Doubly so if you use Great Star or Fat Shark.
Sand Ocean Lateral Shifts: Another easy one, honestly. There's some advanced techniques you can do to get over 4000kmh. Honestly though the big challenge with this track is setting fast times, not the track itself and not racing the AI on it.
Aeropolis Dragon Slope: This one can be tricky if you're not good with air handling, but honestly it's a really fun course and not really that hard otherwise either.
Fire Field Undulation: This is another really fun one. You have to be careful on the hills where there aren't any guardrails but the course is pretty wide and has plenty of heal strips.
Phantom Road Slim Line Slits: Fuck this track.

Why does SMASH look different
There's no cosmic force at play or anything like that. This game is just hard and extremely unforgiving. You might describe this game as the "dark souls" of racing games, but that's inaccurate - dark souls just boils down to pattern memorization, once you get that down the necessary level of execution is pretty low. F-Zero GX requires you to memorize tracks with how fast you're often going, but it's not enough to just memorize those tracks because the game also demands extreme levels of precision. Just knowing that a certain sequence of turns is coming up isn't enough, you have to be fast and precise enough with your inputs to get around those turns unscathed as well.
