I have been following with at least one lesson each day, often watched a couple times. I'm a retired French teacher with 20 years in a Waldorf School, but must say you make me feel I CAN learn a language through UA-cam. Your emphasis on pronunciation, and including all the ways words are pronounced (shortened!) make me feel like I can comfortably go to Lisbon for my first visit in Portugal in 5 weeks, and understand and communicate. "Conversational" speaking in Portuguese in each episode is making me feel more capable, and I am home watching and listening closely, really working on this. Obrigada professoura.
Thank you so much for the comment, it really made my day. The best of luck!
As the number gets bigger so does the minute details required to pronounce it , very well done although this lesson felt more of a tongue twister but practice will make it easy eventually. Thank you for this lesson Maria !
Thank you for the lovely lesson, I'm just starting to learn, and I absolutely love the way to teach. Thank you Maria.
Great, I'm happy to hear that! 😊

A small suggestion: perhaps a longer pause after asking us "What number is this?"
Noted
Thank u very much. Mam
Yeah, this one really challenged my Midwestern flat accent English. I'll struggle with the blending of words together for a while.
John, that's fine, we all struggle with it at the beginning. It takes time and practice but it's achievable. :)
i love you and i hope that you're videos will have more folowers🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much, Amanda, I appreciate you. :)

Eu tive recentemente a grande oportunidade de viver na Região Centro de Portugal. Sempre achei que os portugueses têm paciência para tentar entender e ajudar se você tentar se comunicar em português. Estou muito grato por seu excelente canal no UA-cam. 🙂
Beautiful ❤
Does 2,000 also follow the dois/duas rule for 2? Or does it just stay as dois mil?
it's always "dois" mil.
Eu nasci em Dois mil e dois
6:18 Angry 9000 noises 😡,😄

When do you link the final -s with the next word in a liaison?
Whoops! I should have watched till the end! The next bit explained the answer!
when pronuncing quinhentos e my tounge is stuck 🤣🤣🤣🤣
focus on one difficult sound first, then add another one, pronounce it in steps.
Your conscientiousness with pronunciation details is exceptional. And, both the on-screen phonetic and orthographic representations are immensely helpful. But, please let me say that while -(due to the background coloration of the studio's wall) the phonetic clearly shows up on one's computer screen yet, with the latter printed in yellow and that on the pale gray, or white wall background of your setting that the words are very difficult to see. As a suggestion, perhaps you might either change (perhaps to red, or black) the color of the on-screen script, or up onto the wall background hang a dark curtain. The 1st idea perhaps would be more effective. / Obrigado e boa sorte.
Hi
Can you please make a video to explain family structure in Europwan Portuguese?
Hi, thank you for the suggestion, I'll try to fit it into the posting schedule!
Maria , in 2000 does it remains Dois mil or it may change to Duas under certain conditions?
Same question for Milhão
both mil and milhão are masculine words, so the number needs to match it, it can't change to feminine.
@@portuguesewithmaria Ok, Obrigado 🌹💐🌹
Why are numbers (and arithmetic) so hard in a second language? Many people I know who fluently speak English as a second language always revert back to their native language for counting and maths no matter how long they have been speaking English. I admit I am not a whiz with numbers in English but they seem to be impossible to grasp in another language. Whenever I have to pay for something at a store or cafe, I just shove some money at the clerk and hope for the best!
Olá, I have noticed that one who writes with "e" between the numbers, but it doesnt appear. For example, 1001 - mil e um. 1010 - mil e dez. But you said, "1995 - mil novecentos e noventa e cinco" I thought I would write in "mil e novecentos e noventa e cinco". Is there any rules for the conjunction "e" between the numbers? For example, 1.366 (mil e trezentos e sessenta e seis OR mil trezentos e sessenta e seis?), 901.002 (novecentos e um mil (e) dois?) 3.511.700 (três milhões (e) quinhentos e onze mil (e) setecentos?). 5.020 (cinco mil (e) vinte?) I dont know when I write "e" between the numbers. Obrigado!
Hi, Vincenzo. You can say it, you can drop it. The most correct way is to say it.
@@portuguesewithmaria Anyway, obrigado. Eu nacio em mil novecentos e setenta e cinco. I will try to write the Portuguese numbers. The population of Portugal is 10,128,891. Dez milhões cento e vinte e oito mil oitocentos e noventa e um pessoas. The population of Italy is 60,258,500. Sessenta milhões duzentos e cinquenta e oito mil e quinhentos pessoas. 1.200.300 = um milhão e duzentos mil e trezentos. 1.214.379 = um milhão duzentos e catorze mil trezentos e setenta e nove. 1.200.379 = um milhão e duzentos mil trezentos e setenta e nove. 1.214.300 = um milhão duzentos e catorze mil e trezentos. I found out about Portuguese numbers rules from the website. I understand now. Obrigado!
