  • From Westlake Tunnel to prior to Pioneer Square station. This gives an idea of what to expect when you take the light link rail from downtown Seattle to Seatac Airport in Seattle, WA.

    I really like that tunnel with the shared buses and light rail. Riding LINK to the airport and back was my first priority when I last visited the Seattle area, and I enjoyed the transit tunnel the most.

    Thanks, I wished our light link rail has more lines. Phoenix is lucky to have its own rail. If only Seattle gets half as much sun!

    Thanks for the comment and great question. The short answer is Yes. On a first come, first served rule passengers with luggage (and bicyclists with bikes) have priority to store their luggage in compartment areas by the train doors. The areas are not very large. 3 22 x 18 (IATA std size) pieces of hand carry luggage may fit snugly. If the space is taken, most (Seattleite) passengers tolerate luggage along the aisles.

    Imagine where Portland would be if city leaders had the foresight to build a tunnel underneath Pioneer Courthouse Square in the 1980s....

      It would have been great if they put the transit mall under the street in 1977, although the transit mall worked just fine before light rail ruined it!

    back when Seattle was actually interesting

      Yup. Though still one of the nicest cities on the west coast of the USA, the city has been under so much stress from the homeless population, rising crime, gun violence. The ravages of inflation is also on the list. But the city has a lot to offer if you plan to make a move, milder climate (unless you really dislike rain), green spaces, good employment.

    Prior to this video, the City of Seattle had decided to do away with the 'free ride area' around downtown Seattle. It irked many downtowners (reason = due to funding issues). You may only 'tap' your Orca card on the reader machines that are painted a bright yellow color for only the train. You need to tap in your Orca card on a Metro bus reader upon entry. After you tap on the reader and you change your mind on taking the train, you may 're-tap' your card to be credited back your fare.

    Are they taking out the trolley's in Seattle or what is happening with the trolleys?

    • @FASSY524
      @FASSY524 10 років тому

      Jon Magno I meant the trolleys on bus routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 36, 43, 44. The Gillig phantom trolley coaches and the Breda trolley coaches!

      Not familiar with the trolley coaches you mentioned. Metro still operates bus routes.

      @@JonMagno Planned obsolecence is criminal..and we too here are being lumped our own unfair share's worth, oh yeah! Ever exceedingly, surely your transit tunnel there must be chokingly noxious beyond all that *abominable* noisiness!

    • @JonMagno
      @JonMagno  4 роки тому +1

      trainrover Unless teleportation becomes reality soon most people will gladly embrace unplanned obsolescence, it’s a shame what had been done to trains trams and trolleys with the advent of four-wheeled monsters of the pavement, the ppm I inhaled as a kid nearly killed me. The tunnel will be our own version of the big dig, the city council will probably cancel the project midway, that’s how we do it in Seattle. Just like the debacle during the monorail extension that became a legal land grab. Good luck on your own battle with obsolescence, just win baby.

      @@JonMagno oo la..never would I ever entrust big business to disassemble and reassemble me. Anyhow, inter-lacing suburbs has been _en vogue_ since at least the 90s, yet city mayors feign handwringing over the hollowings out of their *damned* jurisdictions.
