This is absolutely the best format. Ashley takes the lead, she's the expert. With Dorian offering insights and an occasional comment. I think you are perfecting your presentation. Thanks for sharing:)
It's called a tennis tail, and Lacoste keep them because Rene Lacoste "invented " the polo shirt to be a tennis shirt. If there's no tail, it's not a "real" polo shirt. But I'm sure ya'll knew all that.
Brad Hubert yulp. And the collar to keep your neck from getting sunburnt. It was made from pique cotton to breathe and the logo was added because rene lacoste nickname was the alligator. Because of his big nose. The idea was gathered from polo players in India who's uniforms had elements of the shirts.
I don't mean to be rude but Rene lacoste actually didn't invent the polo shirt, that's a common misconception. If a polo shirt has a tail in the back that means the shirt is ment to be tucked in. The first polo shirts were from Manipur India.
I buy most of my clothes from costco and tj Maxx. I look for good tailoring, well-known brands, machine washable fabrics, and fit of course. Costco polos are quite well-made , as many are. I look for doubleneedle sewing on armholes and shoulders. Most of mine cost under 29 bux. They'll last forever, of course. I don't care if they go out of style....I'm 74 now, so don't really care about what others may think. These days, coats n ties aren't so much required, though I do have a navyblue sportcoat I wear sometimes with jeans, Ts, n tennies. I also have one Hawaiian shirt, one flannel shirt. I live about a half mile from the beach in north san diego county.
Guys, my favorite is the Lacoste pique. They were super popular in the 80’s and they’ve made a huge comeback. I don’t think these two realize the tail is so your shirt won’t come untucked while playing golf or tennis. Keep it in mind if you’re a golfer!
I love stripes in polo shirts... and not just plain stripes but a mingling of thick and thin stripes.... with 1 or 2 color matched to the main body color. The indian polo t shirt designs are really really good.
It would be cool if you cold somehow do reviews where your order like ten different polos and compare them all. I know it would be a lot of work but would be very valuable in this day where people often times feel they need to shop online either for good selection or limited time. You could be a consumer reports for menswear! Love your channel anyway
Brooks brothers make the best polos for sure! Fit, quality, colours, just perfect! On the cheaper side, I like GAP.. their plain colours are nice. The fit can be a hit or miss though..
My boss keep saying to me, go for Sunspel or Rag & Bone when you have enough money to invest on a higher quality brand when it comes to Polo/Shirts/Henley
Have watched all ur vids till date. And i honestly feel u r way better with ur contents going solo rather than wit ur business partner. Also, past videos of u trying 3 outfits on a model were lit.
Ralph Lauren Purple Label Polo (Made In Italy) or Lacoste Runway collection ( Made In France) if you want the end of the end go with Hermes Polo ( Made In Italy) My personal Favorite Canali polo which are slim and feel like a liquid of polyester but is actually cotton. They have amazing sale.
Piqué is a type of weaving a yarn (usually cotton), not a cotton type/specification, and doesn't tell anything about quality. Cotton types are Pima, Supima, Sea Island Cotton, Egyptian Cotton. If you are searching for quality, you should look for Extra Long Staples cotton (like all mentioned above). Also, better then cotton for hot summer is linen fabric.
Any advice on merino wool polos? I recently started a minimalist approach, especially for my travels and I picked up some merino wool polo shirts and and t-shirts from wool and prince. I LOVE them and I believe they work amazing. Wondering what your take is on merino clothing.
Items not addressed. What about three button styles vs two button types. Also unbutton how low. Do you think Dorian has it unbuttoned too low? What about an undershirt?
Dear Ashley, please make a VIDEO on (how to style a THICK NECK guy). I have a Thick 18" NECK like (Dwayne Johnson the Rock). My question is should I COVER UP my neck with ASCOT ties or Scarf, or should I proudly show off my Thick neck with Deep V-Neck (to add balance length to my neck). Should Thick Neck guy wear Thin or Thick Ties? Wide or Thin Lapel on suits? Anyhow, Ashley, I'm completely lost as I can't seem to find any answer for guys with THICK NECK. I"m 5"11" but my neck measure 18".
Ashley, I need a polo that fits! I’m 6’4” with a 44-46” chest and 32-33” waist. Everything I find does not fit. I’m okay going custom or tailored, but can’t find polo options. Any suggestions?
I also enjoy the textured blend looking materials. I can't seem to find any for a tall man though. I'm 6'4 195. Slim/athletic. I can get away with some LT sizes if they dont shrink in length much. Any tips that fit my criteria?
snug thru the bicep relaxed thru the belly thats all good luck gentleman my recommendation? i've used lacoste ralph vineyard etc etc brooks brothers nailed the polo
How much do you want to spend? I'd go to Kohls (some choice and value) or other middle brow menswear retailers before H+M for men. The local HM here had horrible and tiny menswear selection.
Hey ashley thanks for al the content it has been really usefull!. I wanted to know if you could make a video on de different tipes of fabrics. I mean difference between cotton an supima, pima cotton, wool and merino wool, etc. Sometimes when I buy online there is this differente tipes or variations of fabrics and I get a bit confuse if its better or not. Anyways thank you a lot for your content!
I'm a person that sweats a lot. Whenever I go out, I'll have sweat circles around my armpits before i even leave the door. I have this problem during the winter as well. What kind of Material/type of shirt Would you recommend? I've always been very self conscious about it and try to hide it with layers. However I want to be able to go out with just a shirt/polo without having to worry about this problem
I’m surprised by her response saying that she prefers pocketless because she has said that the Sunspel Riveria is the best pique polo, and it has a pocket.
Perfect vid. Next up, crew neck/t-shirts for different occasions as well as work or those worn under a blazer/sport jacket and those worn at different times of the day. Also, their links for Canada if possible. Much appreciation ♥️
The notch in the side is called a scallop. My favorite polo is the Arcteryx A2B polo made from merino wool. Cool in hot humid summers. I've had them for several years and they have not lost their shape or color, and they hit all your style and fit points.
I have to say that spier and Mackay polos are probably the best value out there. They are very nice, well fitting and have an excellent collar. At 30 regular and sometimes 20 a piece, they are an absolute steal.
Good advice for the sublte and simple, and maybe boring style, which has it's place, but life is too short not to have all sorts of styles and colors in your closet. H & M used to be my polo place, but they tend to be cheaply made and not last too long. Ooh, and some plaid and print polos rock!
Hey! Great video as always. When talking about pique cotton I started wondering if you like Pique weave in shirts? I got one from a friend made by Ralph Lauren and it's the most comfortable shirt I have ever tried. Ralph Lauren call it heather mesh. I see more and more people in Norway wearing those kind of shirts as well when going out. The Ralph Lauren is usually priced around $150. I found one for $15 in a store in Spain, but I'm as scared of washing it as with my bad polo purchases of the past. Love the H&M polos by the way. Thanks for that one.
It’s been my experience that less fashion savvy girls really dislike polos. They call them “golf shirts”. Few girls at the bar are fashion savvy so it’s tough in the hood to pull these off
Wash them better and they won't have this issue. You're comparing two brands on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. That's not fair. Still stand by my dollar-for-dollar recc, though. They're unbeatable there.
AWxInc That's the reason I started buying polos from higher quality brands. These h&m polos kept strinking after a few washes. The ones I buy now have not. Also I think Uniqlo has better quality polos than h&m.
I wanted to get a consensus. I find summers in in America far too hot. Upper 80's and 90's with humidity kill me. I lived in Australia for two years and I was born and raised in the UK but I find it near impossible to walk anywhere without sweating immediately. Is this the same for anyone else? I workout and don't easily sweat. Just wondering if fabrics make a difference or am I just doomed. It blows my mind when I see movies and tv shows of people running and not sweating to death.
Scotch and Soda is also a brand with really good polo's..My favorite so far...Its an Amsterdam Brand, and thus Dutch...But! They have some stores outside the country and I think U.S. As well
Only time I ever see them mentioned is as poorly veiled plugs, either by Kent himself or someone clearly with a vested interest. So hard to take them seriously. Have not used or encountered them ever, so hard to recommend.
Thats quite surprising and disappointing that they come across that way. Do you use reddit forums like mfa as a resource for seeing what people recommend? Its quite disappointing that you've never tried them but recommend budget friendly options like J Crew that are clearly inferior
I think it's awesome when a Military Veteran rocks a polo shirt for the branch of the military they served in. My thought is that you took pride in the appearance of your uniform when you were serving. Why not continue to show your pride in your military service.
Hey Ashley, love your content. I was just wondering that the style you promote is very minimalist and basic but still you never seem to mention brands like Gap which have great basics. Any particular reason?
I personally love Uniqlo’s airism polos for the insanely hot and humid weather here in dc. Have you guys had a chance to review stuff from Spier and McKay?
One thing you didn't touch on is something who has a lean build, meaning not skinny but has some muscle. Dorian is just flat out skinny, and you mentioned the other body type as someone who maybe heavier. What about the lean doods? haha
Fred Perry is the best polo shirt to wear bar none. Forget Lacoste, Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger. None of them compare to Fred Perry. Watching from London UK.
Thanks for video. Has anyone noticed H&M have changed their polos this year? They were superb every year for the money, back polos fit and looked amazing for the price. Style stuff is when Ash takes over, for sure. Still working out the kinks!
Keep up the good work! Love it!
they are joke and so seems you... and so H&M and tail and where to stop

Thank you. I was just coming here to say that. It's so your shirt stays tucked in while you're playing tennis.
I hate the tail on polo shirts. It looks dumb.
@@renindy keeps their shirt tucked in and out of their way when playing and still allowing for full motion of the hips without chafing!
I don't mean to be rude but Rene lacoste actually didn't invent the polo shirt, that's a common misconception. If a polo shirt has a tail in the back that means the shirt is ment to be tucked in. The first polo shirts were from Manipur India.
Are there any things about style that you two disagree on? I think it'd make a fun video concept just to show how style is subjective.
No all bugmen look the same
My go-to polos are Ralph Lauren slim fit, and the Burberry polos with a discrete check design on the neck buttons
I buy most of my clothes from costco and tj Maxx. I look for good tailoring, well-known brands, machine washable fabrics, and fit of course. Costco polos are quite well-made , as many are. I look for doubleneedle sewing on armholes and shoulders.

I'm already dreading the amount of work to do this, haha. We'll see...
Great stuff, I’m ready for you guys to hit half a million followers. Well deserved, and the only honest UA-cam channel!
Excellent video! Also, digging the frequent uploads 😊
My favorite go-to shirt for casual wear and formality.
Pima cotton from lacoste are my favorite. I go crazy for them. Have 6 of them... always on the look out for more colors.
Zara makes decent ones too
Lacoste is second to none!
spier & mackay polos, best 20 dollars you can spend on a polo shirt and feels as good as those costing 60-80 dollars.
Have watched all ur vids till date. And i honestly feel u r way better with ur contents going solo rather than wit ur business partner. Also, past videos of u trying 3 outfits on a model were lit.
My favourite polos are the lacoste 1212 and the Fred Perry twin tipped size medium both last forever and fit amazing
The Ralph Lauren Pima Cotton, and the Interlocked Cotton shirts are totally awesome!. They fit great, and are super comfortable.
If you buy RL you're not getting the best value for your dollar. You are probably hoping that others ooo and aaah over your 'label' 🙄
pink polo always my summer favourite
She's right guys. Pique Polo's are the way to go! Just picked up a few and I've never looked fitter!
A Lacoste shirt without the crocodile is like a LV bag without the monogram. What's the point?
I just ordered 2 polo shirts from h&m and the material is very good for the price

Jos A Banks have some very good polos. Key thing I look for is if the collar starts to roll up. Have not had that issue with my JABs
JABs = $$$
Anyway one know if sunspel polos are still made in the UK?
Can you tuck the polo in or should you have it out?
I always wear mine untucked, partly cuz I'm about 30 lbs overweight.....ugh.
what do you think of a saturated blue polo shirt?
I have a few" Versace Collection " polos and "Porsche Design" polos.....not cost effective but definatley nice looking and fitting.
How much do you want to spend? I'd go to Kohls (some choice and value) or other middle brow menswear retailers before H+M for men. The local HM here had horrible and tiny menswear selection.
AMAZING VIDEO! THANK YOU
You have a typo in your video description... Barton Perreira.
What are the best 3 button Polo shirts,I do not wear 2 button Polo shirts
How do you feel about BR polos. Personally I’m a big fan.
What about cuts polo shirts?
One question !!what is the average length of a polo shirt ?
Hey ashley thanks for al the content it has been really usefull!.

Try wearing a sleeved v-neck white undershirt. It will help :)
Lots of right guard, which I use everyday no matter the weather or temp.
I may have to watch this again, but I don't think you gave your opinion on Polo with or without pockets.
Don't dislike them, but I'd choose pocketless if given the choice.
I’m surprised by her response saying that she prefers pocketless because she has said that the Sunspel Riveria is the best pique polo, and it has a pocket.

My business partner only?
I thought the same thing 😅
Can see the reaction in dorian's face tho...
Lol, you guys are gossip Queens!
I wonder... 😆
Leaving out RL Polo is obvious oversight
yes, better when ashley briefly introduces you dorian. thumbs up!
Great way to present video. Thanks for sharing
I have a little problem with sweating from my armpit is there any way of covering this up
steven lodge Hanes tshirt
steven lodge lol
The notch in the side is called a scallop. My favorite polo is the Arcteryx A2B polo made from merino wool. Cool in hot humid summers. I've had them for several years and they have not lost their shape or color, and they hit all your style and fit points.
Ministry of Supply makes the best polo shirts. Your list is ok, but your missing a lot of others that are much better.
I have to say that spier and Mackay polos are probably the best value out there. They are very nice, well fitting and have an excellent collar. At 30 regular and sometimes 20 a piece, they are an absolute steal.

What about sports fabrics something like the ones from under armor?
How about quality friendly not budget friendly? Huge difference. Expensive definitely does not equate to quality in this sphere at all.
Agree. Know what yer looking for as far as fabric and assembly.
How about buttons? Should it have a certain number? Do you recommend buttoning up?
Only two buttons.
Do you recommend Polo Ralph Lauren or Fred Perry polos?
Linford Gaw Fred perry for best fit and you don’t have to see yourself coming and going
Hey! Great video as always. When talking about pique cotton I started wondering if you like Pique weave in shirts? Love the H&M polos by the way. Thanks for that one.
Hey Ashley,
What kind of sweaters do you recommend with a polo?
(I skimmed your site for info on this but wasn't able to find anything off the bat.)
It’s been my experience that less fashion savvy girls really dislike polos. They call them “golf shirts”. Few girls at the bar are fashion savvy so it’s tough in the hood to pull these off
H&M polos crap, shrink in one to two washes. I get polos from acne stuidos and James Perse. I only have a few though. I don't need that many.
You couple are the best.
@ashleyweston you forgot ted baker polo shirt
H&M doesn’t go over 2xl and it’s almost impossible to find polos in 2xl so I’m not sure what he’s talking about.
I wanted to get a consensus. I find summers in in America far too hot. Upper 80's and 90's with humidity kill me. Natural fibers help alot with “breathing” bro, if smell is also a problem look into tencel/lycocell cotton blends. Tencel have self cleaning effects
Scotch and Soda is also a brand with really good polo's..My favorite so far...Its an Amsterdam Brand, and thus Dutch...But! They have some stores outside the country and I think U.S. As well
I need what Dorian is wearing
I cant find it
Can you do a video on printed button downs?
Sunspel Riviera Polo is the absolute best for summer.
It’s just too hot for polos in the summer time. Save them for spring and fall.
What are your thoughts on knit polos?
Have never seen one that is NOT Knit.
Great video and I appreciate the helpful info. Now I'm very curious to put on a pique Polo.
Did you disregard Kent Wang or not know about them? They are absolutely in the top 5 poloshirts available
Auto generated caption: Hey you I'm sorry demons were stylist, Ashley Weston.
haha, caption fail!
What about polos from Ralph Lauren ? Also polos from timberland ???
Lands End, L.L. Bean sell pretty good stuff.
Do polos with horizontal stripes look good?
Haven't seen one, but one narrow racing stripe might look bitchin'.
Fred Perry. thanks !
Where've you been??
I think it's awesome when a Military Veteran rocks a polo shirt for the branch of the military they served in. My thought is that you took pride in the appearance of your uniform when you were serving. Why not continue to show your pride in your military service.
Woot! I recently bought one from a site for army vets. Looks great, sez 'army vet' on the chest....love it. Wish I could add a pic.
Brand makers like Polo etc need to heed your advice about the logo's.
You should check out the Polo's from 'Ministry of Supply' :)
What about the lean doods? haha
Love you guys! Thank you so much for these vids!
can polo shirt be considered as business casual attire?
Talk to yer boss first....😉
Are you still a fan of Fred Perry?
Underrated channel:(
Mack Weldon Vesper Polo.
Fred Perry is the best polo shirt to wear bar none. Forget Lacoste, Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger. None of them compare to Fred Perry. Watching from London UK.
Is 100%polyester polo shirt good. I want to buy because of the fit.
Just watching other videos related to Polo Shirts then this comes out lol
Thanks for video. Has anyone noticed H&M have changed their polos this year?
They were superb every year for the money, back polos fit and looked amazing for the price. But this year they have changed the buttons to tacky white ones even on the black polos, and the material is not as smooth and silky and lost its stretch.
It's annoying because I wanted to buy some new ones this year. Why did H&M change something that was fine as it was, and made it poor. To save money, probably.
Knit collar on a polo is a no go for me.
good stuff....thanks for sharing.
I thought last summer you said NO piping on polos?
I agree.
Thanks Ashley! Though not a fan of the lighting...
What's with the sombre, dark funeral parlor lighting?
