  • For the committee discussion, Yesha Council Director General, Yigal Dilmoni, was invited to present to the committee members the seriousness of the problem and the possible solutions required to solve it.
Judea and Samaria have almost 3,000 archeological sites of critical importance to our Jewish heritage and history. In recent years, these sites have been abandoned and 80% of them have been the target of damage and destruction. The sites have been carelessly excavated and antiquities stolen, in many cases leading to the complete destruction of archeological discoveries and the obliteration of historical artifacts.
The "Shomrim al Hanetzach" organization, which monitors and tries to address this problem, initiated an emergency discussion in the Knesset Education Committee on the issue of antiquities’ destruction in Yesha. Alarming data on the extent of the phenomenon was presented to the committee, including the fact that behind this illegal activity are criminal elements, along with those interested in erasing Jewish history.
