- If helicopters are a struggle to fly in Microsoft Flight Simulator and the nose rockets to the sky when the controls are released, this 90 second tutorial will show how to set trim for helicopters in MSFS to make flying them easier and more enjoyable.
As stated in the video, here is the link to the FAA Helicopter Flying Handbook: www.faa.gov/re...

Nicely done! Cheers the corporatepilotdad!!
I concur the other guy saying this is a total game changer. Wow! It was so tiring flying helicopters just holding the joystick. Thank you good sir o7
Holding the stick forward was the worst. When I figured out that trim could be adjusted, I did nothing but fly helicopters in the sim for a couple months straight - and make this video.
Perfect, and many thanks. Long awaited settings.
Holy crap.....total game changer for me sir. Thank you very very much.
Just trying to help others not pull their hair out in frustration trying to fly straight and level.

Thank youuuu

what about "rudder" trim, tail-rotor trim(pedals)?? I need that also!
You and me both. I have not found that key bind yet and I looked for it after seeing your comment.
@@thecorporatepilotdad ah, ok. Thanks for reply. Now I know I am not crazy. I lost my mind while trying to find it among so many confusing control input names.
@@zoranbrasnjo7488 There is one called set rudder trim or something like that that works but as soon as you touch the rudder axis it resets so its useless
May I post this video on my Discord server?
Yes you may.
👍
Thanks a ton, being trying to figure this out for a long time. As stated a game changer for flying helicopters in MSFS. BTW, I also found Increment Collective, and Decrement Collective. It's amazing for trimming Up and Down path, and especially for me softer landing and smooth take offs, using the Collective trim. It still takes some practice, that for sure. Thanks again for a great video.
You are welcome. I use trim all the time when flying helicopters in MSFS and it makes flying them so much easier and more fun.
Thanks
Isn't there a force trim button
What should I have my trim as?
I especially like the reference to free materials funded by taxpayers. There is quite a bit that we miss out on because it's boring government stuff.
Prior to the year 2000, most FAA materials were boring with black and white photos. Along came updates to many FAA handbooks after the year 2000 with COLOR PHOTOS! Back then they were not free in PDF form as they are today.
Ah thank you very much! But how is the tail rotor trimmed and where is the force-trim function? The tail rotor is the most important aspect, I cannot twist against the feather of the joystick for half an hour while flying to keep it from turning in circles :D
Unfortunately, there isn’t a binding for tail rotor trim in the sim. When at normal cruise speeds, little to no tail rotor input should be needed.
Does watching this video make me a licensed helicopter pilot?
In MSFS, yes.
Absolutely brilliant sir . Made so easy to setup . Thankyou
Glad it helped. Using trim definitely makes helicopter flying in MSFS much more enjoyable.
Yes thanks!
X-Plane had a really cool feature where you could hold a button and then move your joystick to the default position and when you then release the button it would trim the heli to whatever position your joystick was in before you pressed the button, so you didn't have to do it this way, I wish we had this in MSFS too
Its called force trim and thats how real helos work too.
@@niuniuhhh is there anything like this for MSFS?
@@Sidian98 Yes. Something called set cyclic longitudinal axis and set cyclic lateral axis.
Helpful-thank you!
You are welcome. Setting the trim certainly makes helicopters easier and more enjoyable to fly.
@@thecorporatepilotdad It does for sure. I had previously set up trims on my joystick but after your excellent explanation I used trim successfully for the first time.
