    For anyone worried or on the fence about the maxwell and it’s size. I have a fairly tall and big head, 7 3/4 hat. They fit me perfect on the middle setting of the strap. I was worried it might be to heavy, I don’t find it any heavier than any other high quality headset. I use WC freeze pads and the headset is insanely comfortable. It doesn’t feel heavy at all when holding it, just well built. I do have a pretty strong linebacker type neck but I can’t imagine it being too much for someone smaller. It honestly doesn’t feel “heavy” to me at all. Remember these weights are in grams so even a bigger number still isn’t heavy. It will feel heavier if you’re used to all plastic headsets but to me it just feels solid and well built. Should fit any head very comfortably and I played for 7 hours straight with no weight or neck issues. Hope this helps

    VZR have been great for me. Once they break in they sound even better. The original shorter mic that comes with it was pretty crappy, but I contacted the company and they sent me a new modded wire with a new longer mic and ever since I did, everyone has said i sound crystal clear. Better than ever. I did find that they do have to be closer to your mouth compared to how Techne had them in his test. I'm sure it was done to do an even comparison between the two headsets, but the distance matters. For some reason though, the mic is a little more sensitive to picking up voices that bleed through the headsets, but that is nothing that can't be fixed by adjusting the audio you are listening to. I've had youtube while in discord and can see it pick up the audio, but lowered the volume on YT a bit and problem solved. In game they sound fantastic and I feel like music sounds great too. Especially if you adjust the sample rate and bit depth to a higher quality. I use dolby atmos on PC so that might help too. I have yet to test it, but getting a good DAC along with it is supposed to make them even better, but for now they are damn good.

    I was super excited to get my VZR model ones, but I had a very loud background noise associated with the mic use. I had to send them back. I wound up buying the Maxwells and waiting for them to be shipped.
    I might give the VZR a chance again in the future because I love what I’ve heard and read about the company and founders, but my current Sennheiser HD560 sound sooooo good for gaming, the VZR is kinda redundant with my current gaming situation.

    • @oldandslow8994
      @oldandslow8994 Рік тому +2

      Same here :) I keep coming back to my HD560s they are just that good for everything. Only slight issue I would give to the hd560s is their initial clamping pressure. A lot less that PC38x but still a little uncomfortable. I was able to correct it by putting 1/2 Velcro over the top of the head band attached to each side. Now they are almost invisible on my head.

      I have the VZRs as well as the HD 560s and the VZRS kind of suck tbh, way too much bass thats muddy on certain tracks. Narrow soundstage and veiled midrange that makes it sound low res. The 560s beat it in every category besides build maybe.

    • @TheGoreforce

      practically the same story for me with the H3pro hybrids. They just have so many problems that are distracting. Waiting on a call... takes 3-5 seconds to make a sound. I understand why you aren't able to symotanious connect with the Adezee, if you want to be sure as a maker of a product, no matter how convenient it is, if it makes the overall experience worse while using it, also, the boom mic was completely broken on shipping with the H3pro hybrids. These being a better build quality from the penrose, and being about 70 dollars less expensive than the mobius with the latest technology, (there probably will be a new mobius) These sound like they are going to be a winner, I just wanted something more premium than the hyper x reliable decent 42khz sound.

    • @vicosku
      @vicosku Рік тому

      I also have the buzz badly when using sidetone. (Going next to light dimmers and things like that can introduce noise as well, but some of my other headphones have the same issue. The sidetone issue is different). Tried about a dozen different sources and even tried different buildings. Grounding myself to various things eliminates it, such as holding a metal laptop that it's plugged into, while not touching the laptop results in a buzz. Sometimes I've been annoyed by it enough to plug a cable into the headphone jack on my computer (I use a USB DAC for the headset itself) and step on it with my bare foot to eliminate the buzz. They sent me a modified cable that reduced the issue slightly, but it's still there. Hopefully they can fix it with some other cable, because the mic is the main reason I felt the need to order the Maxwell and plan to use it instead. Still a very interesting pair of headphones, but the mic situation is disappointing.

    I get price point matters to gamers, but I just want to know which headset sounds better in his opinion. I'd really like to know, not taking things like price point of special features into account, which headset he would go with if he HAD to pick. Let's be honest, if you're paying $300 for a headset, $350 really isn't a stretch of the imagination if you like the sound even marginally better. Picking the Maxwell's just because of price-point and few special features feels like a cop out to me.

    • @zacharyhansen8250
      @zacharyhansen8250 Рік тому +5

      Sound is entirely subjective.
      With the vzrs being wired acoustic headphones they should in theory always support higher quality sound because there's no such thing as a truly lossless wireless experience.
      But the drivers do play a huge part in the way they sound and it really depends on what you prefer.
      The dynamic drivers of the vzrs will move a lot more and you'll definitely FEEL it on higher volumes as is the nature of dynamic drivers.
      The Maxwell's use a planar magnetic driver which people like for their technical performance. If you're looking for a headphone that can pump out any audio completely undistorted go for the Maxwell's. They also get a lot of praise for how well they eq so if you want to tune your headphones yourself the Maxwell's might be the way you want to go.
      The problem with planars is they take more power and might not get as loud, and since they don't move nearly as much as a dynamic driver you aren't going to feel it in your ear.
      These are inferred perspectives on both as I have tried and tested a whole suite of dynamic driver headphones, though none audiophile grade. But I have yet to be able to test out any planar magnetic headphones.
      Planars are always going to be heavier than dynamics on similarly sized headphones as planars are much larger drivers overall with most dynamic drivers clocking in at about 50mm whereas the Maxwell's are 90mm drivers.
      The VZRs from the reviews I have watched seem to be tuned with a gaming focus so heavier on the bass with some boosting up in the high end to give it some sparkle for that immersive sound.
      Whereas the stock eq settings on the Maxwell's try to follow the Harman curve. A frequency response tuning based on what most people prefer for sound. But that doesn't necessarily mean you'll like it more.
      For most people the difference in quality isn't going to be that discernible and in this category it becomes more subjective for sound than objectively deciding which one is better.
      The Maxwell's give you the option to tune your own eq through the app and lets you save those presets onto the headphones so you can use them on your platform of choice. So if you're looking for a very specific sound you may have a better chance at finding that in the Maxwell's.
      I will keep you posted when I get my pair of Maxwell's hopefully soon.
      I think the biggest thing is planar magnetic headphones listening experience almost always being described as "smooth" that warbling sound you can hear in the sub bass of standard dynamic drivers you won't get on any planar. Some high performance dynamic drivers can still be pretty fast though.

    • @soppingclam
      @soppingclam 2 місяці тому

      @@SofaKingA they provide a decent soundstage and don't need a dac/amp to drive them. Although, I use a Topping dx3 pro+... they rejuvenate the neck from headphone fatigue hah.. but they do sound a bit muffled when compared to the Maxwell's. Although, negligible for most people.
      You can use the Dolby Access app in Windows for atmos and when testing them in battlefield, rocket league, cyberpunk and cod bo6 they do manage to do a very good job of not missing sounds and are not tinny. But I use DTS Sound Unbound app when gaming rather than pure stereo or Dolby. Heck, the app even has these as a searchable headphone. Can switch between spacious or balanced. This works well in gaming.
      Just hard to compare with the Maxwell's as they are pretty much perfect. Heck, I usually use them when using Bluetooth mode instead of my Sennheiser momentum 4s when using wireless to the TV (LG C3).
      Either way, if I am playing more casual and not playing a game with a pal, so don't need to turn the mic on. I find myself reaching for the DT 990 Pro limited open-backs more often than I should

    • @MertLDN
      @MertLDN Рік тому

      @@YoungWise2011 It depends what you’re looking for, it is true that the Audeze’s have planars but that doesn’t always mean ‘better’, especially for gaming. Audeze’s wireless headsets always have a very small/narrow soundstage and I personally don’t really like that ‘inside your head’ sound whereas the VZR’s have a very big sound stage for a closed back so you will be more aware of your surroundings in game and feel more ‘immersed’ as well as better identify how far sounds are. For competitive gaming, the VZR blows the Maxwell, the soundstage and imaging is just superior, infact the imaging for gaming is pretty much better than every other headphone in the world right now that money can buy due to the Crosswave technology, and I would even say they’re better than the HD800s for competitive gaming due to the Crosswave tech, and the fact the HD800s soundstage is just extremely wide where it becomes a detriment for competitive gaming at that point, even though the HD800s are technically better sounding headphones than the Maxwell and VZR and they don’t use Planars. And with wireless, when i pay close enough attention I can hear the noise floor with all wireless gaming headsets and it gives me a headache after an hour or so and yeah I just find wired far less fatiguing and comfortable and will always go for wired. So basically if you don’t care that much about having a competitive edge in gaming and just like the punchy audio of the Audeze’s Planars then you can grab them, and wireless is more convenient. Personally though I wouldn’t use either as I can’t stand closed back headphones and will always use open backs for gaming as I just like the soundstage a bit more and hate the isolated feeling while gaming and I notice myself shouting a lot at my friends whilst gaming in closed backs since it’s more harder to hear yourself in a closed back and I game a lot at night so can’t really shout so yeah open backs are a must for me and there are no wireless open back headphones so i can only go with wired for gaming. The HD560s with an Antlion Modmic attached is essentially the perfect headphones for everything in terms of the best soundstage for gaming and great imaging, great clarity where the lows, mids and highs don’t bleed into each other and there is great separation between footstep audio and other sounds, and overall just really great for listening to music and watching movies as well. If you don’t want a seperate modmic you gotta attach and want your headphones to come with a mic then the PC38x is the answer which is an open back and it’s very similar to the HD560s but just slightly worse in terms of soundstage in my opinion. So yeah I’d say the VZR model ones and the HD560s are the two best headphones for ‘gaming’ right now on the market, if you want closed back go with the VZR and if you want open back go with HD560s.

None of the modes are engaging to my ears. Too much electronic mumbo jumbo. Really don't see what everyone is getting so excited about. I think I will try the VZR next. Built like an old school headset with no electronic modification of the sound. Wired for the best sound possible. They will probably present the sound as the sound engineers programmed into the game. Right now I am enjoying my Focal Stellia a lot on the PC gaming platform. They are closed back , wired and vast in their presentation. Let's see what the VZR can bring to the table
