So I've been looking for a new camper for about over a year. And with COVID and the availability of Truck Campers in my region I did not go in person to view many of these. Looking online i was less than impressed with the Northern Lites. Because I wanted a slide out I didn't feel these would be more spacious than my Palomino Truck Camper. Boy was I wrong! These things felt huge in comparison!!! Truly a premier Truck Camper that feels much larger than it looks online! The cut and finish are superb beyond anything else I've had the privilege to view. I could definitely see myself owning one of these in the future! But for now I'm very happy with my new to me 2016 Lance 975!!

I own a Northern Lite 10-2 SE. For the last four years I boondock camp from April to November, mostly in the Rocky Mountain States...mainly Colorado, Wy, MT, Idaho, South Dakota and Utah, that's eight months in the woods each year. I run mine in a SRW 2009 Ford F350, only I pulled the 6.4 out of it and replaced it with a 6.7 Cummins. I have been in the desert, mountains, over passes, logging roads, anywhere a 4x4 can go I have tried to get to. The only limit I have found is the height...if trees are too low for me to get under. Through all that, my Northern Lite has held up to all the abuse. It is a solid built camper and made to last. It is true four seasons and I have been in temps as low as -2. Now the heat did run a bit, but they are very well insulated so it was comfortable and no pipes freezing to worry about since the heat is pumped into the areas where the pipes are also. Great camper...yes it costs a bit, but they hold their value like no other campers, they have the longest warranty (6 years) in the business and if you have a problem you can call the company and they not only answer the phone, but they put on the guy at the factory that can help you with fixing the problem. You can't go wrong with this camper.
Finally somebody who spoke well and actually sat in the dinette. Thank you from northern Wisconsin.
100%
i have been watching truck camper videos for a good while now, two pieces, no slides to fail, you don't have to climb on top to sweep the slide to close it. easy to maintain to prevent leaks. the host is gorgeous, at 100.000 dollars, but you can't get in it without opening all the slides. it would take me an hour to explain the good and bad about these and other campers. Northern Lite is the best i have seen out of all of them. i prefer dry bath, but i could definately make that one home.
Northern Lite has dry bath models in both lengths
I like!!!!! It's very much like my 2004 Lance 815 that has served my needs since 2011. I don't miss a slide out either.
Thank you much for this brother! I had the same thoughts before seeing you do this video.
Thanks man great review
They are a well made camper with their 2 piece fibreglass design. I got a chance to look through one at a farm show. It was Over $50,000 Canadian. But after purchasing a 2007 Lance 992 last fall with its 2 slide outs I’m more inclined to appreciate the extra room it offers. The dinette slides out and the galley slides out and the camper can still be readily used with the slide outs in as well.
Paul, let us know how your roof and roof seems hold up. Bigfoot and Northern Lite are 2 piece fiberglass...only seem is around the middle....less likely for water penetration....but I guess it always comes down to the level of care an owner shows. 👍
Until your slides break & dont work any more & it costs u $1000"s to fix, ull wish u never had a slide
I'll take water resistance over slid outs and the the weight they bring.
Liking the Northern Lites- thinking I’d want a slide but they seem to make great use of space without a slide! Nice vid
What's a slide
Love these style vids not many other channels do this
Thank you!
Man I would love to have a camper.
We own a 2017 NL10-2 SE. There is lots of room and head space even for those over 6 feet tall even in the bathroom. More than enough head space to sit up in bed. A slide out is weak point that adds weight and is a give away you are inside. As much as I like some Bigfoot campers I think the NL fit and finish is superior. If you think about the stresses put on a a mobile home it is much like being subjected to powerful earthquakes traveling on and off road. In my opinion and experience Bigfoot and Northern Lite are the best. With minimal care these campers will last a lifetime and then some.
I like it!!
They are true 4 season campers with full heated basement. Built to last
I just came across Northern Lite recently. They really seem to build a quality camper. I'm in a motorhome and I'm thinking of upgrading. I wish those guys built motorhomes. I need the space have a larger family and bring able to use the house while we're driving down the road is super convenient. Those are really well engineered.
Checkout Bigfoot, too! Same guy founded both companies...they offer some alternative layouts and same quality.
They can have the slide-outs, I will take my Northern Lite 8.11 any day of the week. Love our 8.11. True 4 season camper and very high quality.
Exactly. Living where I do in the damp PNW, a slide out means more places for future leaks. A slide out means more opportunities for mechanical failure.
What's up HOMIE! HOPE you doing GOOD bro!
Love the t-shirt. Afghanistan Oct 09 - Aug 10 in KAF (Canadian Aviation). Where did you spend your time in the sand box?
Get it and let's go fishin' :)

Nice camper.
The light over the door on the outside is a useful item. Is the smoke detector also a carbon monoxide unit? Since I have not been in a camper for many years I wondered if they were now required?
They are dual smoke and co
i had an idea you were at D&H
Thanks
do you off load the camper at each tourney site so your pickup is free for launch and fuel runs or do you just work with it on the truck?
You can do both, but I take it off 100% of the time
I can tell you from experience. You don't want a slide out unless you are going to be staying in parks or camp grounds. Slide outs get to be a pain in the A$$ if you are trying to be incognito. You might also want to read up on Bigfoot truck campers ("It's either a Bigfoot or it's not").
Very true
Can't agree more....own a Bigfoot. 😁👍
Plenty of room!
Couple things I hate about my Northern Lite, 2013 10-2 wet bath. The European style windows, bugs can still get in and the ones I have prone to leaking along top seams. The vent pipes for the waste tanks tend to break free and this can be real messy in the wrong situations, multiple years for that just surf the FB group about it. NL refuses to acknowledge this. The shower drain leaks into the basement compartment, this camper is not old enough to be having these issues. To say they are the only 5 star camper on the market I disagree, I had two campers prior both better quality than this NL, an Okanagan and a Bigfoot. Just know what you are getting into, NL are nice, but far from 'perfect', and will need attention on some minor design flaws over time. Oh and my floor is not 'super sturdy' anymore, more like soft and squishy.
One of the reasons I went with Bigfoot was for the glass windows that don't scratch or let bugs in when you open them. Plus the floor plan options I feel are better. Still loving my 25C10.4 after 5 years!
One thing that turned me away from Northern Lite was it had no black tank flush as of 2020. The idea of carrying a hose/wand through the camper to rinse the black tank was a real turn off, otherwise, it's a toss up between Bigfoot and Northern Lite. I turned to Bigfoot. I can't remember the story...but the guy that started building Northern Lite and Bigfoot is the same guy. He sold or left his original company and founded the other. Not sure which was first. I love my Bigfoot 25C10.4. I've spent the last 75 days in Tucson, AZ enjoying the winter climate here. Two days I head back to Iowa and start work again. 😪😪😪
One other thing I like about NL over Bigfoot are the windows. Mine are all slides with traditional blinds or pull downs...NL are tip out...with built-in shade/screens.
They say you can get in an accident in one of these and it wont kill you. But the price will ..
If you get the chance check out the Bigfoot 2500 9.4LB or 10.4. The floor plan is great 👍 Just fyi the NL peoples were once Bigfoot employees but broke away and started their own thing. They're both great Canadian companies and make solid products. They're not perfect but pretty close.
Guns up
they also have a real queen size bed not a RV queen. very big deal you can put in you own bed and not get ripped off buying RV sheets ect.
I'm still NOT IMPRESSED!!
could you do a push up and or squat in there?
plenty of room in the bed for her to do squats
A slide out in a camper weakens the structure & makes it less comfortable in cold weather ,if u plan on camping in below zero weather ,u don't want no slide on u r rv
What year and model is this?
It's a 2020 or 2021 brand new. Sweet as can be.
How much was this unit?
Dude you're a small guy. Of course you fit.
That is what I was thinking lololol
how would it work for the 6'4 guy
you do not want a slide out on a truck camper. believe me I know I had one did not like it.
why not?
One can't appreciate the lightweight until you start to compare it to other campers of the same size. This is easily 500lbs lighter than conventional campers.
As usual....UNAFFORDABLE
