I always prefer industrial areas to housing estates. As a truck driver I will ask kindly if you are parked on an industrial estate always be mindful of lorries trying to park up. If you see one trying to find a spot, maybe consider moving forwards or backwards to make it easier for them... Its much appreciated 👍👍

14:41 I think that arriving later in the evening is a good idea still, because in urban/residential areas, you're not going to know if where you park is where a resident parks, so arriving as late as possible means that hopefully everyone that parks in that area should be parked up by the time you arrive.
Great vlog and I do struggle with the concept of stealth urban park ups.. but to put it in perspective we don’t now blink an eye when we sadly see tents in our town centres and yet people get funny when someone sleeps in a van on the road 🥹

Hi Darran. Your videos really helped give me the confidence to urban park when I first got my van. I’ve never had the knock either but honestly, as a single female I wouldn’t answer the door. I would always park legally so I’d keep quiet and pray they go away! I’d only move on from somewhere if it felt unsafe.
Great Vlog Daz, my guess is some will object to this park up because it's opposite the front of houses but a local could park a works van/ truck there every day if they wanted to, if I lived in those houses I'd prefer a motorhome parking there as a one off than having to look out at a works truck parked there everyday. 😊 x

Ahh thanks guys, really appreciate the support 😊 Storms can be a challenging one in all honesty, I’ve never had anything bad happen but it can be a little nerve racking. My advice if wild camping would be to find shelter anywhere possible like ends of houses or supermarkets, if that’s not possible then I would park nose into the wind to reduce the rocking. Parking anywhere away from big/overhanging trees, they’re the main thing I’m trying to avoid. Hope this helps 👍🏻😁

Would I park up overnight on a housing estate in front of peoples houses?, only if I was absolutely desperate and couldn't find anywhere else. I think you found alternatives but still chose the housing estate, I know it's legal and all that but it can easily be avoided.

Bit weird parking outside other people's houses, those bays are meant for visitors to the houses, not for you to sleep in, you've taken up that whole bay which can accommodate about 3 cars, which are now going to have to find somewhere else.
I always see a lot comments about getting rid of grey waste… easiest option? Jet washes at garages. As long as it’s only washing up water etc, plenty of soap gets drained so I don’t see it’s a problem. I’ve even played with the idea of refilling my water tank with a jet washes at garages… i don’t ever use it for drinking so for a couple of quid… should work right? 😂

Do you think you are more likly to be tollerated in your parkups because you are in a reasonably expensive motor home than you would be if you were in a converted van? I just wonder if social profiling comes in to play, such as motor home driver is probably visiting somone on our nice middle class estate, whereas converted 20 year old transit driver is probably poor and so must be on our middleclass estate to case the joint?
All very true. Right now we parked up near Dundee but it was a bit blowy so we've parked up on a residential street for shelter but close enough to the sea front for a morning walk. Did an industrial estate a couple of nights ago to shelter from the storm but generally find pretty cool parkups.
So if there is no signage about parking on an industrial estate then it is perfectly legal with nothing stealthy about it? Just be aware that it is a workplace and dont get in the way of the lorry drivers.

My mothers corn beef hash -> cubed corn beef - cubed potatoes = garden pea's = gravy to season. It was the 70s and we wuz skint.

We just looked at upgrading to the 9m swift kontiki but are worried that most campsites won’t let us on. Have you found that with yours?

Jet wash places work both great and black waste. Tractor and animal trailers with animals left over are all allowed to use vehicle washing facilities.
