      As far as i know, Chinese and Indians (or Rather non-Bumiputras) cannot get into local University easily. In SMKs (Sec School), Chinese and Indians are treated differently by the Counsellors/Prefects and some teacher (although rarer for Teachers).
      You might say, Indians are minority in Singapore too. Yeah, that's right, difference between Singapore and Malaysia, Singaporeans aren't as racist and can complain teacher if they are bad.
      Malaysian English is terrible.
      Indian community are too small (probably) to fund their own Indian High School. Unlike Chinese who are more lucky who has Chinese Independent School.

That's what I regret most. I'd like to add that I continued my degree in Malaysia and a lot of the friends I made here are just as bright (some even better) than those I've met in SG. They have given me more life lessons and values and experiences than I am learning in my lecture rooms. So, saying schools are bad anywhere, it's just not right. It depends on what the child values when learning and interests when growing up.

    That sohainess....nowadays graduating with a degree doesn’t guarantee you can get a job...some of the most successful entrepreneurs and businessman actually has lower academics qualifications than salaryman. The moral of the story dun be so kiasu and kiasi, all those hardwork studying and scoring in school doesn’t makes u come out to be a robot in life...think that you’re now only primary 6 or secondary 1 or 2. The world is ever changing and demanding, it also means by the time u graduated get a degree and start working in the real society, all those years of schooling education has already outdated. My point is not to give up on academics but be smart in choosing the real hobby or life or dreams u want to be instead of churning out another robot in the society that makes you suffer and not in control over your life and decisions you make.

For those keyboard warriors who are insulting the boy's parents for sending him to study in Singaporean school.....he is a 2nd gen PR thus it makes sense. How is the boy supposed to cope if he were to study in kebangsaan school and be thrown into SG's NS service once he reaches 18 years old? His parents are just doing the best for their beloved son. Just because you don't agree with it, it does not give you the right to comment about their parenting skills or mindset. It is true that there are good schools in M'sia but as a Johorean myself, I know how limited and expensive it can be to study in a reputable International school. For those idiots who suggest government school alternatives, most parents I know aim to send their children to an International school despite the high cost because our national syllabus is always changing. (malay to english then bilingual etc etc) Parents just want the best for their children. His parents sacrifice their sleep and work hard to send him to study in Singapore and who are we to judge? We should applaud them rather than insulting because it is not an easy feat to be doing this daily.
    PS: Watch the whole video before you comment because it just makes you look dumb

I was mostly surrounded by students that were well-behaved and striving hard to succeed academically. I think that what is most important is to surround yourself with people that help you become stronger and smarter than the person you were yesterday :)

    Scrolling through the comments,i realized that most people said that its a waste of money, its not a healthy lifestyle,the parents should let the kid relax a bit, and much more other stuff. I personally think that its his choice,it maybe could help him in the future,who knows? Everyone (most of them) in the comments said that the new generation of malaysian students aren't even good at malay, and i think otherwise... Malay is actually a very easy language,I'm not really GREAT at it, but at least i always try my best. Some people also stated that the parents were right and that college kids that graduate in Malaysia doesn't get a successful job, or even a steady job. I don't know about that but im pretty sure some of the world's best went to college in Malaysia(dont ask me who, i have no idea, just read it in an article online a few days back). Malaysian sillibus is actually improving a lot ,and now the new generation of KSSM/KSSR students study EXACTLY what Singaporean students their age studies. Some commentors also commented on the languages Malaysians have to learn in school. Yes, we learn tons of languages, and most of them can help us be successful in life and communicate with people that speaks other languages. I, myself am a proud Malaysian student,i learned many languages such as cantonese, malay, english, dutch, mandrin, japanese and korean at school. Its tricky, but its one step closer to achieving my goal.

      Currency conversion is the only insult Singaporeans can use on Malaysians. I thought their education is so good, they can at least make better insults. Besides, currency conversion doesn't mean shit. If your currency is too high, investing in your country will be hard as hell. Qatar is much-much richer than Singapore and their currency is 2.70 to SGD. There is one annoying thing about Singaporeans and that is they get pleasure from insulting Malaysia (and other countries) for being "poorer" and they are not afraid to do that in public. I study in Australia and when I see a Singaporean, they had all the confidence to talk shit about Malaysia when I didn't even say anything bad about their country. It is the rudest thing I have ever seen. You never see me insulting other countries for being "inferior". I thought Singapore's education is so good? But guess what, straight A's does not mean that you are smart and the schools should teach you ethics instead of aiming for straight A's. Big problem with Singaporeans nowadays, their attitudes.

      Fauzi Rozali Some schools in Singapore states that 5C's will be required whether you're from Singapore O' Levels, SPM or IGCSE but there is a law stating that majority of their students have to be either Singaporeans or PR. Leaving a small chance for non PR and non Singaporeans and besides that Malaysians who will plan on enrolling will also need to face top students from China, India, Vietnam, Thailand and many more sent by their goverments. An education system is also not judged solely on it standards alone but also involves other political factors. There are other countries (in which I will not state) which have lower educational standards but due to their country being well developed, their secondary school certificates are can be negligible for entry.

I wonder if Malaysian students even study their own mother tongue as it will be difficult to cope with three different languages.

Most job advertisement state chinese speaking only. Even salary for chinese fresh graduate higher. Also more chinese in malaysia migrate in australia. So who more benefit in malaysia?

    • @rainbowmagic7888
      @rainbowmagic7888 6 років тому +2

It is also unfair to Chinese people in the past where you need English to work in companies (National Language is Malay & native language is Chinese/Tamil why need learn English?)
      If one day Malaysia becomes a economic powerhouse everybody will be learning Malay instead.

    The few who chose Singapore to send their children for education. But still live in Msia. Why don't they reside in Spore? From their answers one is Language. But then they speak broken English and generally Sporeans speak Singlish, then it is of no use. Perhaps their vision is their son work in Spore. Becoz without basics PMR or PT3 and SPM it will be difficult to get a job in Msia. The greener pastures in Spore could be the main reason of choice. But then don't forget the homeland.

    Now I agree Singapore education is one of the top in the world but I don’t think necessary having this education will make him have better life or be more marketable. There are many Malaysian schools that are good and don’t require you to speak Malay . You can study overseas even if you study in malaysia. There are many good foreign universities and local universities that allow you to go abroad when doing their degrees . I don’t think malaysia is that bad . You can get a job even if you studied in malaysia . If the boy is happy studying in Singapore then good for him .

  • @karlweiser

    There’s tons of great school and teachers in Johor Bahru, it’s the family’s problem of thinking the grass is greener that side. This is very offensive to me as I think the family is looking down on my teachers who have worked so hard to educate me, what’s the fuss of speaking Malay? And you think we speak zero English in the school ? The child is already speaking “genuine” Singaporean English which is inaccurate internationally. The parents are equally irresponsible, wait till he has to face the notoriously hard O lvls and having to go to the bed at 8 and waking up at 3. So the parents want to give him the best ? Then move to Singapore so he doesn’t have to suffer as the Sports and academic burden increases. Sure schools in Singapore are better, but your poor son has lost to the Singaporeans having less study time and bedtime. School is not the determining factor of success, but your personality is.

    It's all about individual performance. My cousin brother did his tertiary education in one of the local universities in Malaysia, yet he managed to go overseas and worked there. UK, Italy, Germany, to name a few European countries.
    My younger brother, is even fantastic. He did his Diploma in Kota Bharu Polytechnic, Kelantan. Now, he's self-employed and earns money spending most of the time in his house and family...
    It's all about your self-concept and mental attitude...You can study in the best school or university in the world, but if there's a problem with your attitude or internal perception, than you are gone... Seriously speaking...

  • @MadhuNTHBetterToDo

    Some of y’all missing the bigger picture. Indians and Chinese are the most disadvantaged groups in Malaysia, and unless you come from money, it’s very difficult to get a decent living. This is why so many Malaysian Indians and Chinese are sending their children over the causeway to study in Singapore. Because it is much harder for them back home even with Malaysian education. At least with a Singaporean education it opens more doors for them. At the part time jobs I used to work at as a student, there were so many Malaysians who were working with me, all forced to find work over the causeway because they come from a country that thinks they deserve lesser rights.
    So before you criticise this family here, fix the problems in your own country. I admire the Malaysian children who come here to study and work so hard, and wish them nothing but success.

    Parents can effort to stay apartment, why so worried about school fees, I don't understand . I got a cousin sister who is Malaysia born study in Malaysia who is a teacher in JB. Brother who is a journalist . Every country have their own education system in different way and level. why as a parents you think your child study in Singapore only can be best . Those Malaysian leaving in Malaysia with a high post with better life what are you going to say about them . Don't think study in Singapore your child can have better life or job sister as long they grow as a good citizen is more then enough . Singaporean itself dangling in their job scope . Remember thing are keep changing in Singapore . You must think for long run sister. Children need more rest with peaceful education not stress life in childhood .

  • @elysiajewel3149
    @elysiajewel3149 5 років тому +3

    It would've been better to just enrol his child into an international school in Jb, especially when its numbers are increasing exponentially. The cost would've been the same, and you can get an overseas qualification, just like me.
    Moreover, even if the Malaysian curriculum is not as good as Singapore's, getting straight A's in SPM will STILL get you into a polytechnic in Singapore (which basically means HIGH QUALITY tertiary education). To simplify it, why waste money in the beginning when only the final qualification matters.

    Well, at least they are responsible and sensible enough to build a family according to their means and affordability, unlike others, who are more concerned to produce rather than reduce, in spite of financial incapability and lack of parental guidance in the child's upbringing or providing a good education. They just sit back, relax and wait for freebies and pampering.hence the increase in social ills and crime.

I remembering being scared and a little stressed because the standard was so different.. I didn’t know how to write ANY Chinese words. Only know how to speak. I was so scared because I would get 0 for a Chinese spelling test... however I don’t regret coming over to study. There are pros. There are cons in sg and in Malaysia. I am glad I’ve been thru a bit of a tough time and it really helped me become a more disciplined person.
