I started using an app called Superchinese, they have very good and simple grammar point and vocab lessons, and every small 课文 they make you repeat on the mic every sentence, telling through AI what are your pronunciation mistakes. It's been helping me a lot
Thank you, Grace, for these tools. I was procrastinating to relearn Chinese though I have got basic Chinese knowledge since my childhood. After I found your channel, I can carry on learning it again.
Tip for Pleco: if you want to learn traditional or put more emphasis on learning traditional, in the settings you can choose to display traditional first. This was extremely helpful for me to start recognizing traditional characters in every day reading assignments.
I use the apps called "读书 - dushu" but it only available for android not for ios. It contain of HSK 1 - 6 material and present a lot of sentence for practicing but u also can see the vocabulary used for the sentence. The vocabulary show in simplified n traditional one, meaning, and each tone have different color. So, it's useful remember the tone and how to speak.
Hey Grace! I use Anki to learn Japanese and Chinese. One thing you forgot to mention was that there are so many great ready-made shared decks online! This saves a lot of time. And audio can be added to the flashcards. I particularly like listening to loops of native speakers and then repeating after it.

Hi Grace :-) I just discovered your channel and I am so happy ! Your videos are awesome, informative, smart and you always add a touch of fun. I am also super happy to learn that you are Taiwanese, as I started learning Chinese when I lived in Taiwan and want to keep a connection with Taiwan and Traditional Chinese
The tip on Anki is so useful for me. I try to create Chinese deck but never get what I want and you show me all I need is to create it on laptop and click on those hide button. Thank you 😌😌😌
Thank you, this is very helpful for me. I'm currently studying Chinese language. After seeing this video I immediately download the Du Chinese app hehe, hope it will hepl me a lot! 😊♥️
Wow I didn't expect there could be so many useful tools/apps 😮 I only have pleco in my phone and it's not really enough. And it's hard or tiring for me to search the net for recommendations. I'm happy you made this video to show some popular tools for Chinese learning. I am impressed and I'll really check these out 😊 加油 Grace 老師!
@@GraceMandarinChinese 你好Grace老师。我好久没看你的videos,但是我回来了。你现在比过去有名啊。你可能不认识我. As one of your fans since last year, 我开心地看你的channel长得流行。 我从两个月前决定认真学习汉语。我正在学习汉语水平三级,然后下个月我会开始学习汉语水平四级,所以我需要是你建议的apps/tools,为帮助我学习. 现在我不太流利,所以我可能写得错了。批改我,没问题 哈哈哈。
Thank you sooo much for uploading this video! I was trying to learn mandarin, but could not find a decent app to learn it. I now speak mandarin, how ever not fluent, but still practicing, thanks to your video!
Thank you for including the 注音符號 + 正體字; a good alternative to "zhongwen" is Liuchan. Liuchan has settings to show 注音 rubi and will look words up in your preferred characters, rather than the one on the page (i.e. 簡體字 on the page but 正體字 in the lookup window). Liuchan I think is derived from Rikaichan (the popular tool for Japanese that these browser extensions are mostly modeled after).
I vouch for HelloTalk. I always get compliments on my pronunciation because I learned by just having constant voice calls with the native speakers and asking them how to say stuff + having them say stuff in Chinese and then break it down into smaller pieces. The audio calls are recorded if you're using the language exchange feature so you can come back and practice until you nail it. I have to warn you that it is very easy for some people to end up just using it as a social network app so you need discipline.
@@user-oh6wb5rj2q It Is free but if you want to get premium features you have to pay (for example unlimited translations, no more ads, certain online lesson inside the app...) But I'm still using this app with the basic version without any problem
One thing I saw no one mention is the super powerful e book reader inside Pleco. You can basically used it like Du chinese, but with books you own, or use the addons inside Pleco. Whenever I struggle at a word or a character I can simply check the full definition by clicking on the word.
Incredible video! Many thanks to the author of the channel for the recommendations! The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities. However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves. You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike. To really learn something, you have to really practice every day. You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives. Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions. However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve. It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc. Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating. In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots. In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible. I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information. My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena. I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot's Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language". This book is always in my bag. If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book. There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes. I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning. Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve. No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day. Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true! Thanks to the author of the channel for the informative and useful video! Your videos motivate me.

你好。How’s it going? I’m currently learning Mandarin Chinese. However, one problem I’m facing is which keyboard is best appropriate for typing in mandarin. Unlike English or Spanish, when you select a chinese keyboard you are given a sundry amount of options for both “traditional” and “simplified” including “Shuangpin”, “Wubi Xing”, “Pinyin”, and many others.
