  • An overnight trip on the Dreamer out of Pierpoint Landing in Long Beach. We target Yellowtail this trip and we slayed them. Half over 20lb and half over 10lb. My best yellowtail trip ever! Biggest fish on trip was 28lbs which I caught of course! 58 Yellowtail for 6 anglers! If you enjoy my videos hit the LIKE and SUBSCRIBE buttons! Follow me on instagram also / robertyoon

    NIce video there! Lots of action and pretty smooth camera work. Was trying to watch another video but I was getting seasick with all of the jittering! I've never tried a six pack, looks fun and lots of fishing room as well! It sounds like some of the guys like to set the hook on the fish -- I tend not to set it, just let em run a few seconds, put it in gear, and then wind, circle hook style even though I use J hooks. Seems to work about as well as any other technique.

      +Briguy1027 I use the same method. Lot of these guys pulled the hooks and had poor hooksets because they try and hook them. I let it go, give it a second or two, put it barely in gear, let it load up a bit, put it on strike and wait for the bend. Only then do I lift my tip. The boat is pretty cool and has a lot of space for 6 people. I throughly enjoyed it. If the fishing was not hot at catalina, its a bit pricey. The captain is also know as a white seabass slayer... So theres that too.

      That's how u shud set the hook. Working deck we try to teach ppl that cuz it's a better hook set and if they miss or drop the bait u can instantly kick it out of gear and let bait run again by doing so they usually come back after it. It's so easy to let them run 2-5 seconds depending on how their eating then put in gear wind smooth and tighten line load rod and start fighting them. A lot of guys try to set hook and swing so hard with slack line they miss by a mile lol

      +MrJesus100 I get bit alot on the 2nd bite when they don't finish the first one.

      +Rob's Fishing Channel ya a lot of ppl just reel in thinking they won't get bite again. We try to teach them that they will come back and bite it. Been trying to teach guys to let bait swim a good while then do 15-20 cranks in slow and then free spool again. That has been working great this season for us.

    Have you fish the big yellow tails when they hit locally? Like 1 to 7 miles out side of long beach harbor they are like 20 to 30 pounds. I heard they just now starting to make a come back.

    • @robertyoon
      @robertyoon  9 років тому

      +TheAgentOfDeath I havent fished local waters yet. I prefer overnight trips just in general than 3/4 or Full day. Too tiring to drive @ 3am and drive back with no bunks to rest in on the way back in.
