Is it worth 8k ? well things simply have their price tag and if u want it u can buy it. Thats for me the way to look at it. I got a chinese tokai that was 600$ and is my number 1 right now, feels better to me than the japanese one thats triple the price even tho that one is a better instrument technically. I want to someday get a nice LP, but its hard to find( to love the finish+tone+weight+comfort etc) and for that price point id want it to work amazing for me. I tried a few 5k + guitars in my last trip to germany and found some custom order murphy labs at session store, the first one i tried was okey, and the second one was the bet guitar i ever played. And when i went to the uk i got the chance to play a vintage 56 strat , some nick huber stuff, amazing instruments just not what i wanted but glad i was able to try them. What i wanted to say, is any of this expensive instruments "worth it" for me over the 600$ tokai that after i will work a bit more on it will be my workhorse for anything? of course haha. Why? well, if i found in a different price range the same thing ( beautiful nitro finish+weight+ tone+ whatever) id buy that. But if u want the whole package, there are very few options. One might find some boutique stuff or custom order from a luthier for a bit less than a murphy lab or masterbuilt fender or whatever, but thats difficult too. So...every instrument has its price point, yours sounds really really great acoustically too!! really love your playing, SRV based stuff sound insane on LPs. make some tabs hehe !!

I had a similar experience with a murphy lab. I went to a store to buy a standard, but it sucked. As well as all other standards I've tried. Even the customs didn't convince me. Then I took a murphy lab and was blown away. It is very sad that you have to pay so much money to get a good guitar.
But you know what? I think I understand why some people say that the acoustic sound of e-guitars doesn't matter. Because it really doesn't matter that much if you don't have the right pickups. The murphy labs have underwound and unpotted PUs. Which makes them microphonic and therefore they pick up the acoustic sound of the guitar. This is completely different than having a "modern" waxed or even active PU which you could put into a random plank of wood.

Sounds great but I've worked on a couple and really wasn't impressed with the build quality personally. But I guess that's Gibson in general, some are great, some are so so

100% that's unfortunately just how they are. They pulled their socks up in 2019, much better QC for a few years but then it slipped back quite quickly!

Very very beautiful axe dude. As an owner of several Custom Shop Gibson and Fender guitars, I just have to disagree with you in one point and I'm not being a hater here. Is not just three pieces of wood and some plastic. I had in the past all the guitars from Epiphone, to Mexican Fenders and American standards, Ibanez, etc. When I bought my first Custom Shop I was asking myself.. Is this just hype, am I brainwashed with marketing from the big brands and sponsored youtubers? Then I pulled the trigger and got that Fender Strat Custom Shop, I will never forget that, took a train and made 5 hours trip from Rome to Genova and all the experience was exciting. I still have it and love it. Since then, all non Custom Shop guitars feels plastic to me. The gap between a Fender Mex and the American std is not that big. But once you put your hands on a C.S, the difference is huge. Not only the sound, the feel, the look, and call me crazy, but I open the cases of my guitars and straight away I smell the wood. They don''t have massive amounts of polyurethane and sh*t like that. You feel the wood, you can smell it. And there's a big work behind it, from premium wood selection, handmade pickups, to all the process after that including unique finishes. Am I justifying paying 40K for a Greeny Les Paul reissue? Of course not. But paying from 3k to even 12k for a unique instrument you love and enjoy and don't want to put down, totally worth it (in my opinion).
It's important to mention that I don't have kids and I have a nice job that allows me to get them. So why not? It's true that the brands take advantage on us. Because I do agree with you a lot when you say Guitar players are weird hahah. Enjoy your guitar mate, it's lovely!

Absolutely man, and nobody loves a custom shop strat more than me 🤣 My point wasn't directed at the differences, more the material costs. It doesn't cost gibson thousands to make these things, more like a couple of hundred quid! Won't stop my buying another one though 😂

I looked at Gibsons, Heritage and bought an Epiphone. Fits my talent & budget better. purty and sounds good. Yes it is the 59 Les Paul style

I've always preferred Epiphone neck shapes to gibson historic! Until they started making them a sensible size!
