The assertion that township food environments are "almost anything goes" disregards the efforts of local communities and small businesses to comply with health standards. It also reinforces a bias against informal economies, which often adapt to local needs and constraints rather than a lack of control or regulation.

Urban schools often benefit from more resources, but resource availability does not inherently guarantee better oversight or regulation. Affluent schools may still encounter gaps in food safety enforcement, as these schools might rely on outsourced vendors or caterers who may not always adhere strictly to health regulations.

The children in affluent and urban schools are not the ones getting ill from food poisoning its in the schools surrounded by informal businesses.

@@Tinker8531 While township schools face higher risks due to informal businesses, affluent schools aren't immune to food safety issues. Outsourced vendors in urban schools can also fail to meet health standards, highlighting gaps in enforcement. Foodborne illnesses reflect systemic governance failures, not just location.
