This is THE BEST demo of lower EMG on UA-cam. Thank you Dr! I had no muscle response or toe movement on my left leg and only one above the knee on the right. Is the Perineal nerve damaged? I have had periods of severe lower and upper muscle weakness. My past EMGs and NCVs were very painful with lots of movement during shocks. This time, I felt nothing until NCV over the right knee as I tensed the muscle during shock. This all started with SXs and after viral/bacterial infection. Just wanted to know your thoughts.
Thanks for the video. Do we measure the distance between below-knee and above-knee stimulation sites with the knee in a bent position? Would that be a true reflection of the nerve course?

How would the tests be performed when the peroneal nerve branches out at the piriformis muscle" which is associated with high degree of compression of common peroneal nerve and piriformis syndrome"?
Thanks a lot for sharing these great videos. I wondered because in my anatomy books, the profound peroneal nerve innervates the extensor digitorum brevis muscle. Its localisation just above the ankle is described much more in the middle of the leg, where the tibial artery is. But obviously your stimulation just hit the nerve to the extensor digitorum muscles. I thought, where you stimulated is the superficial branch of the peroneal nerve, which innervates only two muscles, doing pronation. Can you explain if my books are wrong or if there is a common variation in the innervation of the extensor digitorum brevis? Best regards
My toes did not even move but the old neurologist just said okay to the aid who put thing on leg. Took less than 10 minutes to do nerve and needle emg. He was very short with me and said was normal. Only put needle in 2 places. I knew i should have just canceled at this particular hospital.
I don't think this procedure is transparent enough for the patient. I had a Dr who declared everything normal too only to find results and observe myself otherwise. He noted an abnormality as a 'common Variant' he also didn't include the muap on the emg and it was very quiet in my feet. its important to understand to xplain symptoms, not prematurely or casually dismiss
This is an EMG? The EMG nerve conduction test I had involved a needle and my doctor poking it down my leg... and it didn't even show anything when I definitely do have foot drop, so that shows how unreliable it can be when done manually with the needle like my doctor did. This test looks so much better! What is this called??
what you had was the nerve conduction velocity test (NCV) which tests nerve response. This video is of an EMG, which tests the muscle's response to stimulated nerves. Both these tests are usually done hand-in-hand to tell whether the problems are muscular or nerve related.
When I had mine done doctor the right foot moved fine and even dumped off the bed,but when they checked my left foot it didn't matter how much strength he put through my foot it only moved the toes a little bit, could I have nerve damage in my left foot? My EMG readings were below average aswell
I've had this problem for 2years and the doctors haven't found this problem. I wish you lived here in Dallas,Texas

Do exercise
What product are you using to measure and mark? Looks way more efficient than using a soft tape and office pen.

They are studying the function of The nerve and They can see based on The study If their is any demylination
I have spent months researching treating neuropathy at home and discovered a fantastic website at Gabs Neuro Guide (google it if you're interested)

Clear and informative video!
Is the cathode facing the active electrode?
my left tibial moter not responce was seen
How successful has this treatment been recorded and testimony of the patient should come forward to share.
This is not a method of treatment but a method of testing nerve function/diagnosing problems with nerve conduction
yes answer this question
Sir same test done by doctor for me but still relief is not there kindly help me walking different legs cannot support weights
I am in same situation
