On track 8, you obviously haven't heard Mariah enunciate in the whistle register yet. Go listen to Bliss. Ariana's the best vocalist of this generation, but it's obvious who she gets her influence from. It's not a coincidence that many music critics and reviewers reference Mariah with their reviews of Ariana's albums because she does draw inspiration from her, and has been quite vocal about that. The two and Jennifer Hudson are reportedly collaborating for a Christmas thing and that's gonna be a vocal masterclass.

I am a massive Taylor Swift fan. I didn't know much of Ariana's music apart from a few of her singles and honestly didn't care for it much. But I decided to give this album a listen and boy, my ears have been blessed!! I didn't enjoy positions as much (kind of a grower) but the other songs on here are sooo freaking good omg. well this is 2 years old and i'm late but better late than ever i guess..i know this album wasn't everyone's favorite, but it shows her vocal ability as usual and there's good songs in there..but i think she's been the most expressive and open in this album, everything is so personal and it's just her and her personal things and her feelings, she's just putting everything she feels and gives it to us..and that's what i love the most about it, it's not my favorite in terms of sound but it's definitely my favorite and maybe her best album in terms of story and that's the selling point of it..i love how open, sincere and happy she is, and just like you said, self-love, i love that she's finally putting that in front
Personally, i luv this album and i luv how diff this is to her previous works, it has a lot of r&b influences and no pop influences like DW n TU,N. I personally luv the fact that Ari doesn't made this album for radio hits, charts and general public but for her real fans. POSITIONS album is great 💚 here are some of my tops: off the table (i cried when i first listened, it damn hits me hard) 34+35 shut up positions my hair But for me, personally, DANGEROUS WOMAN stays superior 🖤.
fact: "off the table" actually refers to her ex mac miller who died, and she had been struggling a lot since then, and the weeknd's verse is actually dalton's reply about how he will wait for her, how he would take care of her even when it feels for him that he would be number 2.. it's just so sad and sweet at the same time, that's why it's ariana's one of her favs and my fav too! ✨
A lot of these have hints to Mac Miller. (Send love letters to heaven- just like magic; heaven sent you to me- positions; off the table is about asking herself can she move on after losing mac or should she wait for him in the next life and Able’s part is supposed to show her new partner Dalton Gomez being there for her even though he knows he’s number 2 to mac just like she said in Ghostin in thank you next) and in safety net she says “never thought I’d feel like that again, I came to peace with my path now you got me off track.” She said she really didn’t think she would fall in love again after losing mac and realizing he was the love of her life, even though they did break up because of his addiction making their relationship toxic.
