finally someone who did this right ! My wife owns a 2002 LS430 since new. I watched one video and the guy took off the front bumper ??? !! thank you so much
Thanks for the video, I just did my drivers side headlight. I didn’t remove the headlight though. If you remove the triangular fuse box you can easily gain access to the headlight cover. There’s a little retaining ring that hold in the bulb itself that you can’t really see well if you don’t remove the headlight. It has two loops like Mickey mouse’s ears, just light press on them and it releases the bulb!!! Then when you put the bulb back in just do the opposite to secure it back in place. Having never done it before on this vehicle, it took me about 15 mins!!! So proud I didn’t go to any shop and have it done!
Absolutely no need to remove the lamp assembly! Just remove the triangular fuse box, and the cap to the bulb is right there. No need for pliers on the bulb either! 🤦🏾♂️. The bulb twists off the socket by hand. And install new bulb, and replace the cap, then the fuse box.
After watching this video, I decided to have the mechanic change the bulb. I paid $145 for a $25 bulb and watched him replace it in 2 minutes. You don't need to remove the whole light fixture. Just remove the cover on the top to get access to the back of the light fixture, open the round cover and replace the bulb. Its 1000 times easier than this video shows it.
Thank you for this. I just bought a 2002 LS430. I think they are nearly the same design. Anyway, it's a project I'll tackle next fall when I return to South Florida. My wife goes to the "gossip-group" at the pool and I "fool" around with my cars. We meet up just in time for dinner. Sounds boring, but it works. I love retirement, however I am a little afraid of what's next.
Used this video to guide me in replacing headlight bulb at my 2002 LS430. Turned out I didn't need plyers as bulb was easily removed by hand. Also, no need to disconnect all the connectors. So in summary, even easier than shown here. I got an OEM Phillips bulb D2R C1 35 W through Amazon. The manual said need Type B. Couidn't find any such bulb but turned out to not matter.
Thats right! The Repair Manual shows only to remove the particular bulb. And I hope, you must have undone the clips after removing the plug and finally pulling the bulb out. Nonetheless, I hope this videos must have helped a lot people. Thanks you tyljtl. By the way, type A, B, C's...etc. are Lexus's local reference for the various type of bulbs. If you scroll down one or two more pages on the Owners Manual, you'll see something like A: HB3 halogen bulbs B: D2S discharge bulbs C: HB4 halogen bulbs D: Wedge base bulbs E: Double end bulbs F: Single end bulbs
You just save my life guys I’ve made it to 2019 in my 2001 no lights. Problem, light will go on and then right off in about 20 minutes been going on for 10 months.. winter is coming but we got a warm day I’m gonna try to do it without making the five disconnects to the other lights thanks so much you guys these cars run forever they’re fantastic I have an LS 460 also long wheelbase all wheel drive 2010 which is my baby
I just did mine and on my 06 and since the headlamp can't be removed as easily on the 04-06, I was able to unfasten the triangular fuse box and the fuse box behind it, move them slightly out of the way, and reach my hand in to replace the headlight. It's a really tight squeeze and you can't really see what you're doing, so if you don't know how the assembly works, I'd recommend doing the passenger side first to get an idea of what everything looks/feels like. No screwdriver or wrench is necessary to remove the plug or the bulb itself, everything can be done by hand. I wonder why Toyota decided to add extra fasteners to the headlamps after the first model year, really annoying for the "correct" replacement procedure to take an hour and change for one single headlight bulb.
@@sahilkumtakar7240 I didn't completely remove the fuse box, I just took out the few bolts that were holding it in so I could pull it up and push it aside and get my hand in there to change the bulb. I don't remember what size it was but I used a hex screwdriver with a 9 or 10mm hex bit, and then attached a pair of locking pliers to the handle of the screwdriver to turn it. The correct tool is a socket wrench with an extension, but I don't have an extension that long.
C C 04-06 is different there is a screw on the side of the fender plus you will have to go under the wheel well but if you replaced it before it can be done from the top only little space but it can be done to just swap bulbs
Mjhn06 . . . I've already removed 2 bolts on top, can't find the one on the side fender nor under the wheel well. It's still holding something on it's side
the only problem I found was the (on a 2002) the fender must be pulled back and the wheel well trim must be undone. the stud on the headlight has a nut underneath the fender.
After recently performing this procedure, I would add that it is fairly difficult to get the headlight assembly to disengage the small pin on the side. Then after that, there
Was a problem pulling the headlight out, there are three small tabs on the bottom leading edge of the headlight that catch on the bumper cover on the way out, pay attention to these and it will go a lot smoother
DjTwon40 . . . U can convert the highbeam bulb to LED. But for the existing HID, eventually they become yellowish that u might have to replace it wid another HID D2S, 6000k for pure white.

Lol you paid 145 for a mechanic to change your lightbulb? if it was so easy you shouldve done it yourself. what do you pay for a oil change?

What's next - as in death?? (Sorry if I misunderstood that). Anyway, we were dead before we were born and most have no bad memories of it

@@ibtarnine ok thank you. I read it is a 10mm hex bit. Looks like I will have to buy a 10mm socket wretch
Or just remove the black box to the right of the windshield washer fill tube and replace it without removing the whole assembly.
Need your help, why does it look so easy taking it off when you said slide it inward. Mine doesn't come off and it's frustrating :(

You didn't explain that you have to pull the bumper out slightly to access the the 3rd screw to pull the headlight out.
