Coach Mike, do u know why defenses weren’t able to stop the Pacers up-tempo style offensive scheme in the playoffs? I thought NBA teams historically had to resort to more slow halfcourt offense in the postseason, & so I expected the Pacers to take a massive hit but from what I saw, they played pretty much the same on offense.
Any new defenders to look out for in the league? Any younger or current guards that need more love? I love your work and am glad to see you uploading again
I have worked my defense, but I was barely improving; and when I started having a forward stance, I stole the ball like never before to score on me is very difficult now. However I keep going for steals and get beat some tips on it would help.
Steals should be like candy. Great once in a while but not a steady diet. Pick your moments, study your opponent, pick up on his go tos and when you can make him go to them. Make sure your steals aren’t gambles but calculate maneuvers. Then it’s the technique side that it sounds like you have a pretty good handle on
Regarding "Never bring your feet together" from the clips you've shown, it appears that bringing your feet together is appropriate when the offensive player first starts to make an aggressive driving move to the basket. Having both feet together serves as a launching step to gain the quick reaction step they need to prevent the offensive player from driving. Am I correct in this?
The academy is definitely easier with breakdown videos and workouts. The book is more coach centered and has a supplemental video examples. But the academy has full breakdown sessions
